I was really wishing this was going to be good, but it was too crowded the night I went to actually enjoy it. Service was slow and there was no place to sit, or to even set down a drink for that matter. When I go somewhere to enjoy a Hef, I want to enjoy it. I stopped by one afternoon while walking my dog and sat outside in the sun. The bartender working that day came out quickly to greet me and gave me a menu. I was pleased to see that they served Warsteiner Dunkel beer. I've traveled to Munich a lot and finding a good Dunkel in the states is difficult. My beer came quickly and I savored the full liter slowly (and excitedly). I will be back in the next few days to try another type of beer! read more

I love this place, it's been my favorite hangout in West Seattle for over a year now! Awesome cold beer, served in the correct glass. The best bartenders in Seattle, and some great eats. Just what I picture when I imagine an authentic German pub. Great company, friendly group of regulars. and a great punch card system that even allows you to earn your very own barstool. The Pretzel sandwich is one of my favorites here, cant go wrong. Everything on the menu is excellent, the pickles by far are the best! I will return many more times. read more

One does not go to Prost! for the food. You go for the beer, the beer and some more of the beer. If you happen to be hungry, they've got food. If someone in your crew isn't feeling the beer selection, they've got a full bar as well. Pro-tip: If you're feeling peckish, get something simple and it'll be tasty. I suppose this is a bit of a review of service at Prost, but also a comment on a previous review here who complained about his friend being kicked out of the bar for vaping. The bar rules are pretty clear about not allowing smoking or vaping on the back deck. This is a courtesy to the others sharing the deck as well as the neighboring apartments which are stacked right next to the deck. His friend was asked several times not to vape, yet he chose to ignore those requests. Smoking is allowed out in front of the bar and many take advantage of that. Sam did what a good bartender is supposed to do to those who choose to ignore the rules of the bar, and that is to remove them. That person's response was to pout and turn off a hockey playoff match on the main TV with a phone app on his way out, not a particularly good move with a bunch of over excited Blackhawk fans. Then follows it up with a review about the bad service. Engage in less self-absorbed behavior while showing some respect and courtesy to those around you and you will be amazed at how good the service can be. As far as a review of the bar itself, the (all german) beer is excellent, the food is OK and a bit limited by the size of the kitchen, the service is top notch and the patrons are pretty local and boisterous which can be kind of overwhelming if you are new to the place. Once you settle in and get a beer in front of you, it is easy to join in the fun. read more

There's more to German food than wurst and kraut. and the deathcore metal music that was playing too loudly over the sound system was not making me want to linger for another half-litre of beer. This is a place that is great for having beers with the friends. The beer is 5 stars! This is a tiny place with a lot of charm. I dont think that there should be a TV in it and if there is how about some Bundesliga not Basketball? Not particularly authentic. I might add I am from Spain and was with two Germans and a guy from Poland so we know authentic German pubs play futbol as a matter of pride. Weak. That said I also cant stand a kitchen that shuts down early on a friday night when there are a lot of people here. It makes me wonder if the owner knows how much food revenue is lost because of staff deciding they dont want to work. Overall I do like it here but I think management needs to pay attention to things like making sure the kitchen is serving food. That is just lost money and customers because people will leave to find food. I might add the place was packed. Shame that. read more

Prost! I love that there is a location up here in West Seattle. Sometimes I just feel the need for a boot. It's nice to know that there's one close by and right on a bus line! The food is tasty for sure and fits in well with the beer hall atmosphere. There's a nice collection of German beers which are a nice break from the usual micro and macro ones found everywhere else. Prost can get crowded on a lot of nights. That's okay. Just sidle up to a new friend at one of the tables! You'll probably get a weird look from people but point out the brass sign on the table telling you to do so. It's a fun way to meet new people. There is a couple street side tables that get filled fast in the summer. Fear not! There is a nice outdoor area out back which is better anyways. Hops grow up the fences and it gets the late day sun. OK, I go back and forth between loving this place and feeling that it's only so-so - but mostly my complaint has to do with Prost always being so crowded that you can't find a seat or even a place to stand. I guess that's not a bad thing, if you're the owners of the bar. But there's lots to like about it. The beers, of course. I feel like I'm back in Munich when I order my favorite Franziskaner Weissbier and a plate of wurst. Delicious, authentic, yummy. The pretzel is a must-have with a half-liter. The staff is super friendly and keep the cold beers coming even when the place is jammed pack. They've recently opened sidewalk seating and some space in the back, so the odds of finding a spot are better. So glad this place have opened. West Seattle was in need of a good bar. read more

We ventured far from home (U- District) to meet friends here. Loved it. The beers were fantastic of course, and the rustic atmosphere is marvelous, but it was the staff that impressed me the most. They were exceptionally friendly and efficient, and this was on a friday night. We were there for hours and were well taken care of the entire time. Perfect spot to visit when wanting the Leavenworth experience, but are too lazy to drive two hours. They have the cutest German pub inspired patio in the back!!!!!! We came here after a lovely walk around Alki with our dog since he was allowed on the patio. I don't remember the details of the items we ordered since it was a few months ago, but I remember enjoying it all! Went on a busy Friday night, the place was packed. Great beer selection, decent wine selection (yeah I know wine at a German pub but that's how I roll). We had already eaten but will definitely be trying the pretzel during our next visit. Wish there was a little bit more on it so we could do dinner but there is enough. The only downfall was the extremely slow service - which is why I lowered a star. Yes, the bar was packed but there were only two people on a packed Friday - we had to leave our table 2 to get more drinks, no one checked back ever. read more

Upside: We went on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30 pm for some beer and lunch/snacks. The beer they had was small but they had a good selection. They had some awesome Weisse (but then again why go to a German bar if you don't want German beer?). With the good german menu and good german beers, we were excited to sit outside in their back area in the beautiful sunlight and enjoy some beer with good friends (and luckily there was seating (around 5-6 bigger tables outside only) and by 2:30 it was packed outside. Downside: only one person working in the middle of a Saturday :( It took 40 to 50 minutes for our food to come out (which the bartender was making herself) (The food was delicious though! I got a brat and some of the sampler plates and it was good I must say) but it took very long. I felt horrible for the one girl who was working the entire bar and doing all the food as well. In that stance, it was not the best to wait so long for a brat and when we tried to order more beer and water it took about 10 minutes of waiting inside for the bartender to finally get to us. Ultimately....they need more hands on a Saturday afternoon on a beautiful sunny day in Seattle because EVERYONE was out that day. Lastly, I would definitely go back here because her service (what she could offer) was genuine and we did our best not to be so needy and helped her out (by taking out our own beverages, etc.). Great atmosphere and chill crew. They stay on top of it making sure you are never waiting for a refill on your drink. They're food is very authentic German and is pretty decent but it's definitely more of get a fat mug of beer or a healthy glass of wine kinda joint. Their jack Daniels infused with cinnamon and raisins tastes like a fruitcake and puts fireball to shame. Prost is a great spot to enjoy a beer friends. read more

One of my favorite bars anywhere I've lived. My siblings and I frequent this pub in West Seattle. The atmosphere inside is pretty similar to a pub in Germany (Lived near Frankfurt for 4 months) given its small size. The beer is great (and reasonably priced) and they serve pretzels and sausages with different mustards. We usually arrive fairly late on Friday or Saturday and for a group of 4-6 finding a table is pretty dependent on how lucky you get. There is a bar top, a middle railing to congregate around and tables with benches furthest from the bar. There are darts in the back as well. I always find myself with a great server and top notch service. Also, not a bad place to watch a game if you're facing the bar. We were there the night Boise State's kicker missed those kicks to lose the game against Utah and everyone in the place was cheering one way or the other. Definitely recommended if you are in the neighborhood, and if I could suggest a beer selection: Franziskaner Dunkel-weizen Also, you can get the beer served in giant boots and challenge your friends to a boot game read more

I've come to Prost a number of times and having spent some time in Germany I cannot say this is exactly a German bar. It's more an American bar with German trappings. Yes, it has German beer and they serve it in different glassware, but I really think they need to work on service. In Germany they don't ask you whether you want another beer before you haven't even finished half of the beer you are drinking, not once but three times! It makes me think the bartenders are working on commission! In Germany they give you some space to relax and enjoy yourself without being hounded to buy, buy, buy - so American. Other so called German bars in the area have the same problem. I think they would be well advised to hire employees with some sense of what European service is about. came here the other night to say goodbye to some friends that moved away. cool little place for sure and the beer is great..the food that they did have was good. i think they could expand on the menu a bit. but on the good side they know what they are doing with what they do serve. no joke it is not a cheap place at all. 10 beers and 2 apps and a nice tip to the bartender for being so kickass awsome. and bam 80.00 bucks. the back patio is very nice as well. so if you are looking for a nice place to grab a drink in west seattle hit this place up. read more

I didn't love my first experience here, mostly because of our bartender. My friend and I were so excited to try Prost! We came in towards the end of the night, so I get that she (the bartender) was probably tired, fair enough, but she was really unfriendly from the moment we sat down. Our drinks (beer) were good (lots of German beer options) and the space is small but cute. I would definitely try it out one more time since I want to like and support the bars in our neighborhood. read more
