A great addition to the MVT area! Went to Prost on a Friday night, a day after their grand opening, and sat outside. We made a reservation via Yelp, but had to call to request outside, hopefully in the future they add inside/outside options to book online. Two of my friends got the beer flights and the rest of us stuck to cocktails and .5L of beer. We had a pretzel to start which was pretty small. For the most part most of us had the schnitzel sandwich for dinner which everyone enjoyed. I can't eat dairy so opted for the bratwurst minus the bun as the kitchen couldn't confirm bun ingredients, which was great. Will definitely be back and look forward to some nights here close to home during a Covid winter. read more

My friends and I had brunch at Prost yesterday (midday Saturday) and we had an AMAZING experience. Our server Dillon was attentive, friendly, and fast, and made the whole afternoon so pleasant. The bottomless mimosa/Bloody Mary deal was a steal, and the food came out incredibly fast and was so delicious (the breakfast burger was a highlight, and the fries were skinny and crisp). I've passed by this place dozens of times and never went in - we will definitely be regulars from now on. read more

We tried a Prostini Cocktail with pomegranate, and a 1L Kolsch. The beer was excellent as was the cocktail, and I felt the prices were reasonable for D.C. We tried the pretzel, which tasted decently good and was traditional, but very tiny. It came with 2 sauces(mustard and a creamier cheese sauce) in ramekins about half the size of the pretzel, ultimately more sauce than pretzel. When I say tiny, think normal chocolate chip cookie volume. I'd suggest they make pretzels in house or partner up with a closer bakery! We will be back to try the entrees, and update the review. Great atmosphere and service, but it was a let down to be drinking a 1L stein and be served only one tiny pretzel(with a boatload of sauce) with an order. read more

Oh wow. This dinner was excellent. I have the soft pretzel which was served with two cups of tasty beer cheese and a cup of mustard. This pretzel was like heaven. AHHH so exciting to have these guys in the neighborhood! I loved the old spot that was here originally but Prost is just as great. They really took their time to create an inviting and intimate outdoor space on a main road. If you'd like to eat inside it's also vet well decorated and pleasant. The beers are great and so many options. Careful with the boot - someone near us threw up without even finishing it! They also have a massive beer flight of all their beers which I think would be fun to share with another person. Will keep coming back here year round! read more

3 stars because the service was great, the outdoor set up was really good and we felt safe. The outdoor heater was a huge plus. But, the food was just not on point. My wife is a German immigrant and lived in Bavaria and we visit family there often. We went with another recent German immigrant who agreed that there were many aspects that didn't work. The red cabbage was served cold. We had the chicken schnitzel, spaetzle and wurst platter and there was an overall lack of seasoning - the sauerkraut tasted like it was straight from a jar. There is no pork or veal schnitzel on the menu. Bottom line - this place is great for a beer and a pretzel. But if you want good, authentic German food look elsewhere. read more

We came in on a Saturday evening at 630. We were sat inside and it was decent enough. Masks were on and they had plenty of ventilation. Our menus were stuck to the table top. We told the server and he wiped down the table with a bleach mixture and the table was still sticky. We also had issues with patrons treating the venue as a bar and leaving their tables without masks and socializing with other tables, without a mask. The staff did not enforce any mask wearing once you entered. Moving on.... We ordered the 10 beer flight and two pretzels. Both were amazing and a great value. Then the server never came back for 30 minutes. We had to wave him down to place a dinner order. Dinner arrived and we had to ask for napkins and utensils, again, no big deal, it's a new opening. We had the burger and fries. Both were fantastic, the fries and vinegar mayo...just wow! We also ordered the veal schnitzel and I have a mixed review. Granted i'm second generation German in the US and I travel to Germany several times a year and dine on authentic schnitzel.... But I didn't expect a tough, over-cooked and fatty piece of veal with the breading falling off. I've never been served schnitzel with a flour based bland pepper gravy. I had three bites and couldn't eat the rest (I even tried dipping it into the mustard for flavor). The pile of raw red cabbage was worthless. The sauerkraut tasted store bought. And you get a huge pile of grey poupon in a ramekin, which is almost larger than the schnitzel. It was definitely not house made. The potato salad was the star on the plate. So now I have a list of items that I won't order again. I'm willing to try again for the spaetzle and the short rib and the brunch for the german puff pancake. We were actually walking around looking for dinner places and decided to grab a beer here to figure out where late night dinner would be (we missed Prosts last call for food). They had lots of outside seating with benches and we gathered out thoughts while deciding where to eat. This spot took over where Silo used to be, and seems to be crushing it! Came here on a Friday night and they were busy but we were able to sit outside with a heat lamp. We ordered the Prost platter for appetizer which was a great start and gave us a chance to try the bratwurst without ordering a bratwurst meal. For entree we shared the schnitzel sandwich which was SO dang good. Comes on a pretzel bun. The size and quality of chicken were both great and the sauerkraut and special sauce they use gave it such great flavor. The food was ok but I was very disappointed. You could tell they use good ingredients and that the food is made in house which was awesome but everything was just bland and lacked flavor. My saurkrout was served cold and I have never in my life heard of cold saurkrout but I ate it. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really taste like anything. It needed more vinegar. I had the schnitzel platter and the gravy on my schnitzel was bland as well and although the chicken schnitzel was good, I was very sad that a "Bavarian" style place didn't have veal schnitzel. I won't say anything about their cold german potato salad because I have never had any German potato salad that came close to my Oma's. This place serves great beer and pretzels. But if you do a Google search on "jagarschnitzel" show me one picture on NON breaded pork. They brought me NON breaded pork with bone in...wtf! Ok, so I ask what do they call breaded pork here. They don't even have it!! What an epic failure of a "german" restaurant. This was the worst "German restaurant" in all the twenty some states I've been too. I grew up in Europe and if you can't properly make the BASIC German traditional food how can you call yourself a German restaurant? Very sub par, I guess this place it for people who have never been to Europe, kinda like Taco Bell for Mexican food. read more
