Granted, I do marketing for my day job, so I know online reviews cannot be trusted entirely since the majority of people only review a place when they want to complain. I found this shop with a 5 star review rating. A car shop with a 5 star rating!? What!? Read the reviews and checked on the filtered reviews (from Yelps dumb algorithm) and it was another 5 star review. Sweet! I figured this was a place to check out, since what auto shop that has been in business longer than a month has all good reviews!? So here I am. When you drive up, it is a modest auto shop. I was looking for an honest shop that wasn't just hellbent on huge profits, so it didn't surprise me. When I went into the shop, all the guys were working. I simply asked if they could look at my brakes and they were super nice and came to help me immediately. My car got in within minutes! The employees and owner were nice, down to earth, honest, and authentic. I needed new front brakes - no shocker there. Rick gave me my quote and time estimate, which was reasonable. I asked a few questions and he happily answered them. The owner, Rick, is a super nice guy! When I approved the work, he got the parts on their way and got started on my car. While waiting I spoke with a few members of their staff - all super nice and professional. I don't need an auto shop with a fancy building with a luxury lobby (which has to be paid for through overpricing of services). I just need an auto shop that is knowledgeable and honest. Just recently (in 2025), the engine started idling rough and the check engine light started intermittently going off, so I took the car to Christian Brothers. Christian Brothers said that the coils in my car were original (from 2005) and that the plugs were fairly new but were not OEM so 3rd Street Garage never replaced the coils, they replaced the plugs with non-OEM plugs and charged me for coils that they never installed. 3rd Street Garage also broke several of the plastic coil connectors and several spark plug coil boots which I now have to replace. I know this to be true because the car has never had the coils or plugs changed, my uncle was the original owner and I have all the service records. No doubt the fact that this car is older made the plastic coil connectors and spark plug coil boots somewhat brittle but none of this damage was ever mentioned to me by 3rd Street Garage, so I've been driving around with a compromised vehicle for several months, oblivious to damage caused by 3rd Street Garage. 3rd Street Garage charged me over $800 to do a less than mediocre job that caused more damage than it fixed and now, less than a year later I'm stuck with an over $1000 bill to replace coils and plugs and to repair the damage caused by 3rd Street Garage. IMO, 3rd Street Garage is dishonest and does not care one bit about their customers. If you use them you should be prepared to pay more than you paid them initially to fix all of the issues and damage that they caused.

Pretty horrible experience at David's today. Been chasing…read morean issue with my vehicle starting for about a month now and finally had it down to the starter, which I can't replace myself (tools). Spoke to David's and they said they would replace the starter I had (O'Reilly's) but they wouldn't warranty the part. Expected and okay. Dropped the vehicle off about 9am. Given a quote for $231 for inspection, diagnostics and testing. Was told that it would be applied to any repairs. Was verbally quoted by Rich that the starter replacement may add a "couple of bucks" but would be close to the $231 and that the testing/diagnostic charge would apply. Was told it would be done by noon. At 12:30pm called to get a status, still in work. At 12:45pm I get an automated inspection report. At 1pm I call back to see if the starter had been replaced. Nope. Quote $760 for replacement using my part and $1050 to use theirs. Asked about the 300% increase from the initial price and after being put on hold for a while was told that the best they could do was $463. DOUBLE the original quote! Was also told that they "hoped" to get it done today. "Hope" is a little dubious after doubling/tripling a quote for no reason. They also made very clear that absolutely no warranty was included - including installation. When I asked if the starter fell off because they forgot to torque the bolts, "Nope, we wouldn't cover that. But we do things right around here." At 5pm I called to see if it was actually completed and it had been done but no one had decided to let me know. Overall, just a bunch of over promises, under delivery and dishonesty! Look elsewhere!
