Are the prices expensive? Yes. But when I tell you ITS WORTH IT. The difference in taste and quality in UNBELIEVABLE. The lamb is divine and so flavorful. The chicken, so tender. The beef and pork cuts, delicious and tender. It's all locally and sustainably sourced too. There's no comparison between this and the crap grocery stores sell. They even have rare things like rabbit and cool sausage combos. PS - the barbacoa is HEAVENLY. It's so good that I honestly entered Nirvana and transcended to another level I hope they never stop making it. read more

This place touches my heart. Maybe literally as red meat is a known link to heart damage, but hey you only live once and if you're gonna indulge yourself this is the place to do it. Prospect Butcher Co. (which is how it's known) is a loved neighborhood institution. Lines can found outside often, as they still enforce a limit of people inside. Maybe you'll see Nets sharpshooter Joe Harris who is known the frequent the place. What can you get at Butcher Co? What can't you? They have an array of spices, sauces, and all types of fixings to enhance your food. They have sandwiches. And they are a butcher so you can expect some great cuts of meat. These sandwiches are to die for. Again, literally they might kill but it's worth it. If you're trying to extend your life a little longer maybe you go with the tasty turkey with bacon jam. Their rolled beef and roast beef are two of my favorites. Love their chopped liver top. My number one though has to be their boudinwich. It's boudin (cajun-style sausage with pulled pork, chicken liver, rice) / pickled onion and serrano / garlic aioli / watercress. For cuts of meat, they do it all. Burgers, hot dogs, sausages, roasted chickens, taylor ham, veal, ribs, and most importantly special cuts for different holidays. Last holiday season I got an ossobuco which was phenomenal. Compliments to the chef of course. (Shhhh it was me) I also cooked a mean brisket. The staff will recommend and give suggestions of how to prepare anything you buy. They also have baked goods. Cookies, bread, etc. Not sure if they are prepared on site, but they're all fantastic. Recently they added beer, but I think it's weekends only. What I'm really excited to try is their new breakfast sandwiches. Sadly they are only be offered on the weekends 9-11. Hope I get to try one soon. Ordered hot dogs. None of the garbage was in these dogs! Fresh meat without the preservatives. You can just taste the freshness. This was BLISS. I will let y'all know about the Kielbasa tomorrow. Served with beans, faux elote (corn on the cob with spice and parmesan) and potato rolls. The kielbasa didn't make it to a photo, it was delectable! The best I've ever had. read more

They have a lot of great selection but their prices are astronomical. They do have some very unique items like rolled beef which is great but things like ground chicken are $15/lb! Very friendly informative staff. Grocery store across the street for 1/3 of the cost on many items. read more

I've gotten delicious sandwiches and good burgers here. Also, their condiment selection is excellent. What galls me though is the price of their roasted chicken. A medium size bird goes for $36. That's more than The Fly which has fantastic rotisserie chicken. The chickens here are not fantastic. They're ok but honestly of the same quality as Foodtown across the street, which is a helluva lot cheaper. Blows my mind. read more

Not your everyday kind of butcher or lunch place, but great if you want to splurge as little. I spent $28 on a pork rillette sandwich and a half pound of roast beef, and I don't regret it one bit. The sandwich was a bit on the small side (ciabatta sandwich sized). It was very good though (I think pickled celery is the next big thing - you can quote me on that). The roast beef was also delicious. Super kind staff. Love the old school deli slicer. They also sell a bunch of hot sauces and random Asian stuff like kombu and Japanese candies. read more

(Not sure why all the reviews on here are about their sandwiches.) My review is about their meat... Their basic chicken breasts are fresh. They have an interesting selection of sauces and seasonings. Other than that their beef is a bit overpriced for the quality of the cuts...in both flavor and butchering. Their short ribs were so extremely fatty and overpriced. I was desperate in the moment, so I bought them anyway. Also, those same short ribs were not correctly cut, so I had to cut some small bone pieces off. I wanted to love this place, but I've been routinely disappointed with either the meat itself or the service. I love supporting local, but I guess I'll go back to the old school Italian butcher shops in park slope and Carroll gardens for the expert cuts. Today (Sunday), the female butcher behind the counter with red-ish frizzy hair gave me so much sass that I felt compelled to finally write a review. Bizarre and unprofessional. read more

Stopped in here to grab a sandwich for dinner. The turkey and bacon jam sandwich was perfect - came to 16 bucks including tax, but well worth it considering how generous they are with the ingredients and how tasty the sandwich was. The bacon jam in particular was so good. They also sell a variety of sausages, meats, sauces and condiments - a fun little eclectic shop. Definitely worth stopping by! read more

We were visiting our son in Brooklyn for Thanksgiving and ordered a fresh turkey. It was the best turkey we've ever had! We also had the rolled beef sandwiches and purchased some cheese for appetizers. Wasn't our first choice for sandwiches, but they were very busy (day before Thanksgiving) and had sold out of most of the other sandwiches. The place is tiny but the selection of meats is incredible! We only wish we could have purchased some of the bacon jam. It came highly recommended, but they only put it on one of the sandwiches. read more

Some items are consistently good (pork porterhouse) others are very hit and miss (bone in rib-eye, which has been fine sometime and now, again today, for the second was gamey/gross). I want to like this place as it's a nice addition to the neighborhood, but it's a passion project shop and people give it a pass when the product is bad. If the equally expensive seafood shop across the street had these kind of quality issues, I would have never returned, so i am asking myself if I should shop at this place anymore vs. ordering from paisanos. read more

The sandwiches here are incredible. I love both the turkey and bacon jam and the PBC roast beef sandwich. The team is all so nice and helpful and knowledgeable about the meat - we've gotten some really interesting cuts based on recommendations that cooked beautifully.
