Raul and the team at Proscapes built our "dream pool" and we are so glad that we chose them as their communication, design acumen and partnership throughout the project has been top notch. We RFP'd several potential contractors and Raul stood out for understanding our vision and aesthetic best, coming through with a strong design and giving us a lot of bells and whistles for the cost. Throughout the process he was flexible, made us feel like a priority, made tweaks along the way that improved things like adding seats or pointing the pool to the perfect viewpoint, and Holly was super helpful on the constant communication as well. He also understood when we had to make choices due to budget constraints and when/where we could upgrade and was thoughtful and creative in solutions for us to meet our needs. You always wonder when a project is done whether the contractor will stay in touch as well as during and honor the warranties and so far they have. I can say I really appreciate that the feeling of being a priority and respect and partnership has stayed just as strong post-completion as during! If that changes I'll change my review but I don't expect to have to LOL! If we hire a contractor for a future project, Raul and Holly will be my first call. Proscapes provides excellent value for hardscape construction. Our project was a backyard renovation with extensive demolition, new pavers, rehabilitation of a koi pond and waterfall feature, BBQ island and some fencing. From the very beginning, Raul was easy to work with - he listens and offers helpful suggestions based on his construction experience. His conceptual design drawings helped us envision how the project would progress. Raul and his office staff suggested stores to visit and a list of materials so that we could customize the look of our backyard. It was really nice to have some help with this difficult and sometimes overwhelming process. Just as with any contractor, I imagine, there were a couple of miscommunications along the way. Be sure that every detail of the project, especially the little things you might be most passionate about, are specified in the written contract. Searching for the perfect landscape company for our pool restoration, I settled on three different companies. Raul from Proscapes was my third interview and he immediately understood what we were trying to accomplish. As the other companies try to upsell us all kind of things, he stayed in tune with us and our vision as well as budget, the proposal included replastering the pool, install new tiles, remove a build in jaccuzi wall, install a new 5 step staircase on the side of our garage and replace all the end caps on our walls all around our property. After deciding to go with Proscape - BEST decision ever - we met Raul at a fabulous tile store and than moved on to a stone place in San Marcos so we could choose our tiles for the pool and new caps for our walls which after 50 years were in extrem need of replacement. Oh my - did I fall in love with a mermaid mosaic to be placed on the bottom of the pool, I had to have her! When we met Raul to go over his proposal, he accommodated us so we were able to make this mermaid part of our pool and stay within our budget! Signed the contract, port a potty got delivered and we started the project. He gave us a 10 week time line which he met. His whole crew, especially Angel and Raul 2, are doing a marvelous job and showed pride in their work. Marco who did the tile work too did a great job in installing everything. Punctually at 7am they were here and after they finished, they cleaned up their work area before leaving. I congratulate Raul on employing such dedicated, polite and experienced workers. If I could give more than five stars I would. Proscapes provided a bid that was well within the range of the two other contractors, but I didn't go by price alone. There were two other criteria, 1) is their communication good and 2) are they timely in their response. Proscapes met all three before, during and after my project was complete. The entire landscape project was done on time and the workers that came each day made sure that everything was cleaned up prior to leaving. I highly recommend Proscapes for your project. ****HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU STEER CLEAR OF THIS CONTRACTOR**** Contractor failed to complete the project per the design, and delivered substandard results in almost every aspect of the project. The quality of workmanship was deficient throughout the project. The delays in scheduling and execution unnecessarily prolonged the project and subjected us to considerable inconveniences. Lack of attention to detail and planning in ordering supplies and materials also contributed to these delays. We feel we have been cheated and significantly overcharged for a job for which the contractor paid a minimal amount of attention, rushed to complete near the end, and left our front yard in a state worse than when we started. Whenever we raised a concern, it was either brushed off, ignored, dismissed, denied or met with an offer to improve the situation in exchange for more money. Contractor's constant efforts to charge more for what we contracted eventually wore us down to stop raising concerns and settle for inferior workmanship. Contractor's unethical business practices included upselling at every opportunity, hinting that addressing a concern would trigger a $150 change fee clause, or state that a feature was "not within budget." Contractor's lopsided payment schedule, designed completely in his favor, gave us no leverage to ensure job satisfaction with a final payment of only $1000 (4% of the total job). The ultimate indicator of the quality of the overall job is that we have received zero compliments since completion. The most prevalent question we get is to ask who did the job, so they can make sure they steer clear of your company for any future jobs. Our goal in working with this contractor was to improve our property. The end result has been to degrade it. read more

We contacted Proscapes by RHC because they renovated our neighbor's front yard a couple of years ago and we really liked the outcome. We got multiple bids and there's was competitive. They completely renovated our front yard, including a new driveway with pavers, rock facing on posts and the front of the house, all new plants, a retaining wall, landscape lighting, etc. They completed the project within the timeframe and budget initially agreed to. Raul and his crew were professional, courteous, and responsive throughout the project. Raul's design for the project was creative and responsive to our needs. He modified it multiple times based on our continued discussions to ensure it was exactly what we were looking for and aligned with our budget. Raul worked with us to ensure the project specifications met the parameters required to receive a rebate from the So Cal Water Turf Removal Program. Pro-scapes recently completed our backyard and we are so happy with the results! The owner, Raul, worked closely with us to design and build our dream outdoor space. He listened to our preferences regarding design, style, maintenance (low) and material to create a space that is not only beautiful, unique and serene but also functions extremely well for family gatherings. We gave him our list of concepts, inspiration photos and budget (fountain, fireplace, Ipe deck, pavers and raised pergola platform) and he took it from there. We were grateful for his artistic eye as well as his expertise with landscape, hardscape and construction. During the build we made some changes and he was able to accommodate our requests. The stone wall that we envisioned was achieved when Raul suggested we re-purpose stone that had previously been a foot path. It was a challenging task for his crew to cut the stone however, the end result was much more interesting than the original selection. He also recommended the fireplace serve as a retaining wall to allow us more usable space. We appreciated his knowledge on optimizing space, drainage as well as water-wise enhancements. We are impressed with the quality of work and attention to detail that he and his crew strive for....everything from the awesome paver job, plaster on the fireplace to the masonry and cement work was stellar. The project did take several months however, the results were better than we had hoped for! Raul designed our back yard then recently completed our front yard with patio courtyard. His design concepts gave us that curb appeal and WOW factor we had hoped for. We began our working relationship with Proscapes in 2011 when we had a complete renovation of our front and backyards after an accident. We were impressed with Raul Cortez presentation of his work and what we could expect from his workers. Raul listened to our ideas and added some helpful additions to make the whole project be complete. What Raul told us in the beginning came to be true. When we were ask to have Raul lead us through all parts of the work we were amazed how everything in the plan was complete. The workers followed the plan perfectly and the end result was a front and backyard to be proud of. To this day friends and people who see the back and front yards say how beautiful it is and how perfect a setting Proscape made for us. So when we had a need for some new lighting we had wanted to be done we called Proscapes and talked to Raul and ask for us a quote. Raul gave us the quote quickly and we approved right away. Scheduling the work was to be done last Saturday. We had sudden plans and called Raul to tell him we would not be home but to have his workers complete the task while we were done. We had complete confidence in Proscape and Raul workers to do what was needed in a professional manner. We returned Sunday evening and were amazed at the work that been completed on our new lighting. We contacted Proscape RHC to provide an estimate to perform a complete backyard renovation. They showed up the first time, surveyed and discussed, with my wife the design. They gave us a high level estimate and told us that there would also be a $1500 design fee that could not be transferred into the final renovation quote. Every other quote we were receiving transferred that cost. I received an e-mail on August 19, 2019 regarding status. I explained to Raul there were missing items in his estimate etc. and the concern regarding the transfer cost. He asked to set up another meeting with us. The meeting was scheduled on August 20, 2019 for August 23, 2020 arrival time to be between 10:30-11:30 AM. At 11:32 I received an e-mail stating Raul was running late and could not be contacted regarding what time frame was going to be required for him to arrive. I called and was told he is unavailable to respond. They would let me know when he would be there a soon as possible. I began to state my frustration regarding this. An hour arrival window had been set by Procapes in which to meet, now the time was open and unknown. The expectation was I was to wait until he was available. The customer service person told me it was not her job and it was out of her control. I explained to her that as customer service, it is her job as she is acting as the face of the company. She pretty much told me this is Raul's problem. Raul called at about 12:10 to explain to me he was heading my way. At this point I stated I was upset that I wasn't contacted earlier before the time window expired and that it eluded that my time was perceivably not valuable. At this point he stated his time was also valuable. This was mind blowing! Who understates the value of a customer's time versus their own? He further explained that he was with another client and when he is with someone, they garner 100% of his attention. Yet, during his first visit, he had no issues answering and responding to calls and texts while there with my wife. There were several interruptions. Then he also made a statement as if this was so important, why wasn't I there during the first contact meeting suggesting my wife couldn't handle it, and that it apparently wasn't important to me to be there? Again, customer service and courtesy? I was working and unavailable. I stated this isn't a delivery of an appliance. This is around a $100K+ transactional business contract. I emphasized that if in the initial meetings this was the service level being displayed, how could the expectation of actually delivery once the contract is locked be trusted? In other words, if at the initial sales level the service is suspect, typically post sales it's probably going to be reflective of the initial connect if not worse. At this point we obviously chose not to progress forward with Proscape. I would warn others to be very careful using them. I cannot state, and will not, that their actual work is good or bad. From all other reviews and photos it appears more than most are extremely satisfied. It's why we contacted them. Just from my perspective, the incident with me did not make me feel comfortable with what had occurred. One more note, I read their negative review and once again noticed, as with us, they chose to place blame vs. accept responsibility. Generate an argumentative path. "Finger pointing" instead of taking the high road. I have objective evidence of everything I have written because of this approach. Taking credit on good reviews and deflecting responsibility for miscommunication or errors is just not professional in my opinion. read more
