This place is amazing. It has an Olympic sized pool. It has a really, really warm instructional pool. It has parking. Nice staff, easy to check in. The negative reviewers are negative nellies. Not crowded on a Saturday morning with a soccer tournament going on at the fields adjacent. If you've got to bring the family early to the fields for warm ups, siblings can hit the pool and easily walk over for game time. read more

This is a great place! Affordable, nice and clean. Plenty of space. My kids and I enjoyed our time and will most definitely be back. There are two big pools. One that is shallow and one that is deep. The deep on has diving boards that are fun to jump off of! Splash pad for the kids too. read more

Pool was busy and everyone was doubled up in the 4 available lanes. An elderly lady that I was sharing a lane with had no spatial awareness. During her breast stroke her feet that were the size of canoes kicked me as she passed by. She did not apologize or acknowledge the kick until I waited for her at the end of my lap. Come on people, if you have a wide erratic breaststroke kick, switch to dolphin kick as you pass by your fellow swimmers. Each time she passed me I could feel the kick come within millimeters of my body. She left a bruise and made my swim a negative experience. read more

Take my review with a grain of salt: I went to this pool place for my "nephew's" 10th birthday party (I'm an honorary auntie). He seemed to have a fantastic time with his friends, and they spent most of the day in the water. The facilities were nice and clean (to be expected from a newer venue), and the staff were friendly. I didn't go in the water since I was chatting with the other adults, but overall, everyone seemed to have a great time. read more

The small pool is warm, too warm for some. The large pool is cool for serious swimmers. They have two one meter sting boards and two at three meters. read more

The Center is beautiful, employees are nice and in a great location. My concern is the pool is not so clean, always bandaids, hair, hair bands in the pool or around it, the bottom of the pool has some black stuff, it could be sand? It's closed from 8am to 9am for "cleaning" not sure that's being done? The woman's bathroom toilets are basically 90% out of order and complaints are made but it's been like this for months. I hope they will address these issues. read more

The pools are great for lap swimming when it's not crowded. Which is hardly ever. But they are SO DIRTY. I mean disgusting. I've seen bugs, people's nasty bandaids, hair ties, plastic bits of whatever, sand etc at the bottom of the pool. And it's every day. The pools apparently do not have vacuums they run at night. Weird. And they close the entire facility from 8 am to 9 am to "clean" (ironically). So they open at 6 am and then close at 8 am for an hour. I've seriously never seen anything so stupid. Why not "clean" the facility after 7 pm or at 5 am? In the middle of the morning means you have to get there when they open or during your work day. Just dumb. I've mentioned both of these things to the front desk and management but they just don't care. Apparently swimming in dirty pools is not a health violation. read more

I needed to find a pool for my senior friend, so she could do her water exercises. She has problems with her legs and water therapy is excellent. The swimming pools here are amazing. They are very clean, heated (but not too much) very family friendly. They offer 1 day use, and memberships at great prices. They also have showers and dressing rooms. I love coming here with my friend. read more

Great pools, but too crowded. Just want to swim 3 days a week for about an hr & can't get a lane due to all the groups they allow to take them up. Wish there was an option to reserve the (2) lanes on the opposite side of the bridge. read more

Swim class is a joke. You have these kids with no direction running a class teaching nothing. Don't waste your time. The facility itself is nice. read more

I was waiting for some one to reply to my email I sent the day of the incident but I guess my concerns weren't that serious. My husband and I wanted to have both our kiddos take swimming classes. This establishment is the closest to us. So my husband called their office and found out that in order for a child to take classes they needed to be evaluated for placement. We were scheduled for Sunday 10/22/23 @ 12pm. There were no information given but to show up for this evaluation. As told, we show up Sunday and we get to the reception desk told the receptionist why we were there and we were greeted with confusion. I asked her if there was any paperwork that needed to be filled out since this is an eval they had no idea who my children are, she says no. The evaluator comes out of this see through glass office with a shirt, pants, and a clipboard. He starts walking to the lane he was going to "evaluate" my kids in. No introduction, no information on what to expect, no questions were asked regarding these two kids he was about to evaluate. He tells them to get into the two lanes. I tell him that they don't know how to swim and so he says oh ok then just one of them can start. My girl bless her heart is one brave cookie and she goes in there and he literally had to get a hold of her hand to get to the edge of the pool. So he tells her to do these maneuvers and so I tell him we are not familiar with those terminology. So he tells her to swim to the other side of the pool. I tell him again that she doesn't know how to swim and in the midst of telling him this my daughter almost drowned. She struggled because she listened to this idiot who refused to listen that MY CHILD DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO SWIM. So he jumps in there fully clothed and carries my child out. First words that comes out of his mouth, we have to fill out an incident report cause I had to jump in. I find it so funny that this place would ask to evaluate a child in a pool without getting in the pool to see where they are at. I find it so funny that someone can evaluate someone without asking questions who they are evaluating. I find it so funny that you expect a child who can't swim to swim to the other side of the pool. I find it so funny that telling someone that their child can't swim isn't enough. We wanted to build my children's confidence in swimming but they had fear embedded in their heads instead. This place is poorly managed and have poorly trained people. Also if you email mboston@oceanside.org he won't reply to you, so place your concerns some where else. Well, William Wagner Aquatic Center thank you so much for a lasting first impression. read more

Was visiting Oceanside and was looking for a splash pad for two toddlers. This center was clean, well organized and had wonderful front desk employees. For those looking for more, they do have two larger pools for laps and open swimming. I'd suggest calling first to check what's open, as they do close some parts for lessons and competitions. read more

Very disappointed in this aquatic center. My family and I paid for a yearly membership so that we could teach our kids how to swim here. They are on summer break from school now and we packed up, drove over to get some swimming practice in. When we arrived at 10am and we were told that there is no rec swim until 1pm. I asked to use a lane so that my kids could practice their swimming and they said not unless we were going to continually swim laps. Of course my kids cannot continuously swim laps because they are just learning to swim and we are working on other skills other than just swimming laps. I feel we have been cheated out of this yearly membership fee. Absolutely awful customer service. read more

The hours of operation should be expanded ESPECIALLY on weekends. Why are the hours from 10am - 5pm on weekends? The lap swim hours should be longer. Why does Piranha swim school get special treatment to be here on Saturdays from 8am - 10am? I pay a yearly membership and can't start swimming on weekends until 10am. I would like an explanation. VERY frustrating and won't be renewing my membership read more

I love this pool for lap swimming. The smaller pool is heated and salt water - super comfortable.

I like everything! Large swim complex. And, open convenient hours -- mornings, afternoons, and evenings.

Very disappointed by this facility, lack of professionalism. My son (5years old) was in the jelly fish swimming lessons & on the last session all children were to jump of the diving board. My son is a beginner very little swimming knowledge, wasn't ready to jump off a diving board. The life guard assisted him to walk on the board, but you can clearly tell he was very frighted to do so. As the lifeguard throws him into the water his right foot stayed behind fracturing his right metatarsal bone. When he got out the pool he was bleeding from the top of his foot where he had gotten hurt, no one assisted him offering first aid (bandaged) , until I requested one. My son was in pain & had to wear a cast. I called and emailed the facility no one reached out to me. read more

Took my daughter and her family, 3 kids. 2 large pools available however only 3 lanes were dedicated to free swim. We counted 45 adults and children crammed into our 3 lanes while the remaining 5 lanes held 1 to 2 swimmers only - why are the kids and family treated like cattle? More revenue is coming from the families than the single swimmers who probably have a monthly pass. Not going back. read more

Beautiful and clean/new facility, great pool for lap swimming, friendly staff. I will keep returning for lap swimming.

Very clean and safe facility with warm water. However, I am reviewing specifically for passive use with children. We are big Alga Norte lovers and this just doesn't compare. The splash pad is basic with no high water features or squirt guns. It seems more geared toward infants and toddlers who are exploring water for the first time. The biggest down side is that if your child is under 45" they must be accompanied by an adult in the pool, EVEN IF they are wearing a life vest. My kiddo is on the smaller side, 6 and 41" without shoes, but has been able to swim since he was 4. The lifeguard was very strict about this making sure BOTH my friend and I got in the water to supervise each of our younger ones but funny enough she was only strict with our group. There were smaller children swimming around us that were not in our group as their mom was under the shade with her sleeping infant. This was fine by us since we were in arms reach of her children if anything were to happen, in addition to the 2 lifeguards overseeing the pool, but the lifeguard never asked that mom to get in. If she had asked that mom to get in she then would have had to take her infant in too which seems super frustrating. There should be a swim test a child can pass to avoid this or if the child is wearing a life vest the height rule should not apply or at least be lowered. read more

This facility should be renamed the CALIPRANA SWIM SCHOOL. The facility seems to have gotten pretty shady management wise over the last year. It seems obvious that someone in management owns part of this swim school. There are large regular groups like school swim teams that reserve lanes in an orderly fashion, but this company seems to be able to choose the lane that you are in doing laps in at random and have the lifeguards come over and kick you out and put up a reserved sign. I always check to see if the open lanes will be open during the length of my swim ie not reserved, yet this happens frequently even after checking. They do this when there are other open lanes as well. They have to have the lane someone is already swimming in. This is our tax dollars at work. I have tried to reserve lanes several times to teach a private lesson on my own with my nieces and nephews and have been told that reservations are not first come first serve like they should be, they are at the sole discretion of the facility management, and I am not allowed to reserve lanes, but am not given a reason why. read more
