They were contracted out by Rite Rug for the install of glue down carpet in an apartment building I…read moremanage. The quality of work is pretty terrible. The carpet is cut short on every wall and all every door threshold. Since it's glue down, it can't be stretched to meet. The seams are fraying since they day the installed (4 days ago). They got glue on EVERYTHING; walls, windows, doors, ptac units, everything. They showed up late and I had to pay my employees over time to stay with them until nearly 6 pm. Then when they came to "fix" things, they showed up 4 hours later than they said they would and basically told me nothing is fixable. I'm not sure what Rite Rug paid them for this job, but I know it cost them way more than it was worth. Especially since Rite Rug has to order more carpet to install it so it reaches the walls!!

On the day of installation, only one contractor arrives at 10am and quotes that he will complete the work alone by 5pm. With only one laborer working 7hrs, the estimated labor rate was near $200-250/hr, though the sales rep was disrespectful over the phone and would not provide further details to itemize the bill. Rite Rug cares more about their margins than their customers. I should have negotiated pricing further but assumed they were negotiating in good faith. Learned my lesson. I just hope other consumers read this review and learn from my mistake.

We hired Empire in April to replace the carpet on our covered porch and paid our deposit with the understanding that the installation required approximately 48 hours of suitable weather before and after the project due to the adhesive specifications. Living in the Pittsburgh area, I completely understood that weather could delay scheduling, and I was prepared to be flexible. What I was not prepared for was repeated cancellations during the best weather windows of the entire season. On one occasion, we removed all of our porch furniture and prepared everything for installation, only to have the appointment cancelled. After I called to explain that we had an upcoming party and really needed to take advantage of the rare stretch of perfect weather, the installation manager assured me someone would come the following day. The next morning, I received a call telling me that "none of the installers took your job." I was then promised the job would be completed the following Monday or Tuesday. It wasn't. Instead, I received another generic rescheduling notification. This pattern continued over and over until the weather inevitably changed and the ideal installation conditions were gone. I escalated the issue to corporate customer service, documented the entire timeline, and simply asked for assurance that my next scheduled installation would actually happen. I never received a response, let alone a resolution. After months of waiting, repeated rescheduling, broken promises, and no confidence that my project would ever actually be assigned to an installer, I ultimately cancelled my order. The most frustrating part is that weather was never the biggest obstacle. When ideal weather conditions existed, Empire repeatedly failed to capitalize on them. For a company that installs outdoor flooring requiring very specific weather conditions, that is simply unacceptable. If you're considering Empire for an outdoor installation, be prepared for the possibility that your project may continue to be pushed back, even when conditions are perfect. I wish I had a better experience to share.

Admittedly this was a small job, but they said they could do it. However, when it came to scheduling the installer to come out and look at it they gave me one excuse after another. This went on for two months. I finally gave up, but by this time my project had been significantly delayed. They were not honest with me that they had no intention of doing my job (or they could not get their contracted installer to do the job - he was not their employee). If the job is too small or beyond their usual skills, why not just tell me? I would have appreciated that far more. I would never go back to them for anything.

Our basement was a hodgepodge of three different floorings, one drop and one conventional ceiling,…read moreand two walls in the laundry area covered in plastic by a waterproofing company. Jason and his team renovated the whole basement by installing drywall, replacing the drop ceiling with a conventional ceiling and new lighting, and covering the entire floor with functional but attractive laminate. They went above and beyond to make sure we were involved in the design and satisfied with the results. In addition, they replaced our kitchen floor, which had some water damage, with beautiful ceramic tile to complement the existing quartz counters. This is the second major project Jason has done for us. He previously remodeled a bathroom for us, replacing all the fixtures and flooring, as well as installing a pocket door. We are very happy with all the work that was done and would highly recommend Building Buddies.

I also requested several quotes for this work to repair my deck - Alan came in at a very reasonable rate. Much more so than some of the other quotes and the work he did was of high standard. See photo of the time he took to sand the edges of the handrails; he also took special care to choose high quality boards. Even when he ended up realizing that there would need to be additional work to be done that would come at an additional cost to me, he made sure to talk me through my options, he made recommendations, and never forced me into anything. Instead, he worked with me to find solutions that would result in a safe, quality deck and also at a cost that I could manage. We're quite pleased with our repaired deck and would absolutely hire him again. He exceeded our expectations.

The whole thing took less than a week and they made a real effort to keep our place clean and usable during construction.

Steve Moore bid my job & accepted a down payment to replace my steps/railing, which was to be done…read moreby end of May/beginning of June 2020. After not showing up there was little communication on his end, no response, etc. The steps were finally started in August of 20. The railing wasn't put up until Sept of 20 (took payment), but not completed. Steve has my additional railing pieces & was supposed to finish the job as the manufacturer sent him multiple parts and he confirmed he had the right ones to finish. Then started the 9 month ordeal of him stating he would be out on "X" next week to finish, never came, didn't answer his phone, respond to texts, etc for weeks/months at a time. He had "family" excuses so I tried to be understanding & held off on filing a dispute. He continues to blow me off with constant excuses on why he doesn't show and has asked me to delay filing with the BBB and leaving a negative review, that he "promises" he will be out (and still hasn't showed). I would not recommend going with Precision Cement. While the work they did complete, was standard - the probability of them completing the whole job that was paid for and having the communication skills of anything better than a 3rd grader are slim to none...

Rhone Floor Maintenance

Great Service! Excellent Work!…read more I had a VCT floor that was not buffed or waxed in roughly 20 years. The old coat of wax, originally applied, was worn off and nonexistent. This VCT floor, in a maintenance office, was faded, stained and looked beat up and worn. I contacted Sam, the owner of Rhone Floor Maintenance, for stripping and waxing services on this floor. I was very pleased with previous work that Rhone had done on other floors in the Building. Sam was very patient and knowledgeable in explaining the process, of what needed to be done to revive this floor. He stripped, scrubbed and applied multiply layers of wax on this floor making it look almost new. The best part about Rhone's work was his attention to detail. Sam was very meticulous, thoroughly cleaning all corners, wiping off the cove base and covering all to make sure there was no wax splashing on edge strips, cove base and built-in furniture. Sam Rhone Flooring did a great job for a great price!!! I will definitely call him back for future work or refer him to anyone needing floor work done.
