I found my jam here. My very favorite combination is half of the turkey bacon club (on croissant) and half of the chicken Caesar salad. The turkey bacon club: The bacon on the flaky, buttery croissant was smoky and wonderful. The turkey was plentiful. And the cheese was melty. The mayo, lettuce and toms work well on this sandwich. I will definitely have this sandwich again! The chicken Caesar salad: The lettuce was fresh and the Parmesan was plentiful. The Caesar dressing was perfect. The croutons really are homemade--and were my favorite part. I will definitely have this salad again. I've had their signature cranberry/nut salad, chicken salad sandwich and tuna salad sandwich before--all are pretty good but I don't crave them like I will the two items above. The latte was good. I love their coffee. The ambiance is beautiful. The tile in the main room and the different tile in the bathroom are both gorgeous. Good service too. What a cute little gem hidden in up and coming St. Joe. The neighborhood has seen better days, but recently has seen a boost in new shops and restaurants with a hipster feel. The cafe is reminiscent of small neighborhood coffee shops, mixed with Italia touches. Tables are scattered throughout, with a hidden nook for private conversations. Their menu is diversified, but still offers the standard cafe offerings. The chicken salad was sampled on this trip , and had an herby edge to it. The broccoli soup is slightly watery, but great flavor. The atmosphere was cozy and welcomed long conversations. A major plus? The space can be rented by the hour. They also allow outside food/drink. Unheard of , but greatly appreciated. We used it for them for an event today, and were so overwhelmed by the owners/staff. Very accommodating and easy to work with. So several weeks ago, I found myself having driven to St. Joe with friends and we were hungry after our long drive and saw Pronto as we were driving around. At first glance it looked like just a coffee house. Oh nay nay! It is a full on cafe and they even have live music in the evenings at times. We ordered a late lunch. We all ordered the Italian sandwich. It was amazingly good, this had to do with the sandwich being made to order with quality fresh ingredients. We accompanied our sandwiches with Strawberry Basil Lemonade and a chocolate brownie which the nice lady at the counter "talked me into"... No, really she did. I swear... OK, maybe she didn't have to do a lot of talking, but it was really good. We got ice brew coffees that were very good. The quality of their coffee was excellent too. The capper was the great staff and their wall of fame. The staff were all really super friendly, really funny, and knowledgeable. They also have a wall with famous Missouri natives on it. Pretty neat, huh? This place is a true find and I encourage anyone to stop by, I highly doubt you will be disappointed. read more

The cafe is too slow at lunchtime rush hour. In the summer the metal tables get very hot & will brand you if you aren't careful.

A friend and I recently ate at Pronto Cafe during a business trip to St. Joseph, MO. The service was excellent and the decor was charming. It's very clear this restaurant represents a labor of love for the owner. I ate their "Special" which was a Turkey & Cucumber Sandwich on wheatberry with orange marmalade cream cheese, lettuce, and tomato! The sandwich was delicious! As stated the restaurants interior space is warm and inviting. Contrary to the imposing form of the gothic home it adjoins. I did not ask the history of the property, but it would appear to have been a funeral home at one point, now law offices (and possibly a private residence) with Pronto occupying a small corner of the property. Pronto was an enjoyable place for lunch, with a relatively small menu of eclectic and personal takes on rather traditional dishes. If you're in St. Joseph, MO I would definitely recommend them for lunch! read more

We don't make it to St Joe very often but when we do we will be back! I had the Chicken Bacon and Ranch wrap and my wife had a Salad and Sandwich. This was, hands down, thee best coffee shop we've ever been in and believe me, I've been in many of them across the country. First of all, It's in such a pretty setting and not too far off the freeway. Some of the decor inside was imported from Italy and it's all a feast for the eyes, including the mansion it's attached to and even the beautiful, quaint lights decorating the parking lot. I had a blueberry scone that was scrumptious and the coffee was great too. If you're ever in St. Joe's, it's well worth getting yourself THERE! read more

Very nice new café in St. Joseph! We had a couple of sandwiches and coffee for lunch Saturday. The sandwiches were a little difficult to handle as the tomatoes and avocados weren't sliced but quartered, and could have used Dijon mustard for some flavor, but otherwise was very good. They have a drive thru which was not busy, I'm sure that will change when more people realize where they are located. We will be back! read more

The staff was polite and friendly. The food was good, not amazing - I got a couple havarti and egg breakfast sandwiches. The day-old pastries aren't all that bad. Just plan on eating your cookie with coffee or milk, but that is to be expected. The atmosphere is comfortable and with a lot of natural light. It is nice having a place such as this near my apartment, so I will be back. read more

I go here all the time, they have the best salad in town, bar none. They make monthly drinks that are super but I love their lattes the best. The outdoor seating is wonderful and I really like the people who wait on me and my friends. The place is very clean and easy to visit and exit anytime. They have excellent coffee too. read more

I go here almost every morning and get a 20oz iced caramel latte. It's so Delish and so is their ham breakfast sandwich. They have a loyalty card where every 4th punch you get either a free coffee or baked good. We just had lunch here for the first time today. I had the Cesar salad wrap with tomato soup. It was very good the atmosphere was nice and relaxing for a morning brunch. The inside is very clean. They also have alcoholic drinks and I saw there was an unlimited Bloody Mary bar for $5. As an avid coffee drinker, I'm very familiar with different coffee shops and café beverages. We ordered a latte, iced café mocha and a chicken club. Everything was extremely mediocre. The latte was bland and lacked the creamy, rich flavor I look for in a latte..and it didn't have a drop of foam. The mocha was pretty typical and the sandwich had good flavors but the bread was hard and dry. The building was cute but it was definitely more "lunch cafe" than a coffee shop atmosphere. Great interior and front deck. Pastry is also good. Then we get to the espresso. Like every other coffee shop in this town the espresso is not properly made. Espresso is not strong hot coffee, it is a extraction of oils and flavor from a special blend of beans roasted for espresso. This extraction can only be done properly with expensive equipment that most restaurants can't justify in there business model. So we have bitter strong coffee from untrained baristas. read more

Great coffee shop. We got 3 drinks, 2 pastries, and an orange juice for under $20.00. You can't do that in Kansas City. I got a vanilla latte because it was recommended on Yelp. I agree-it was a fantastic drink. I also got a strawberry muffin which was delicious. My mom got a raspberry scone. It was like a sugar cookie tasting biscuit with the flakiest and most moist inside. Great Cafe in St. Joseph, but it is so much more with so many offerings. I am a fan of Pronto, but lately their service and food has been really insonsistent. My two favorite sandwiches are the Ham Brie on baguette and the oven roasted chicken club. When Pronto first opened the food was so fantastic it was almost hard to believe, great ingredients and sizable as well. But lately it seems as if they have slacked off a bit to the point where I have been disappointed. I've even ordered a sandwich only to have them take a sandwich out of the to go cooler have it unwrapped and put on a plate. But Pronto at its best is really a top place to eat. The interior is really impressive, and new. The coffee, espresso and other drinks are far superior to Starbucks or any other coffee place in town. They also have a nice selection of ice cream, which I have never tried but looks delectable. read more

The atmosphere and decor of this place is really nice and inviting, would be an awesome cafe and place to get lunch or coffee if the food wasn't so subpar. It just tastes like they barely put any effort into their food. The bread was tough and the food was just average. We had the veggie and the tomato mozzarella. We also got a pumpkin cookie with cream cheese frosting that looked promising but tastes pretty average. A word of caution to anyone who eats at Pronto Cafe, a new restaurant here in St. Joseph ... We ate here and our bill was about $20. I logged into online banking and we had been charged $50. I called the restaurant and was told they'd investigate, but I didn't hear back after waiting 2 hours. My husband went there in person and was refunded the full amount, but the experience was a hassle, with the only explanation being that the point of sale system added a $30 tip. I won't even comment on the food or service because I'm never going back here. If you choose to eat here, watch your bank statements! read more

For Saint Joseph this Cafe is an escape from the normal cafe expierences. Pronto has a great quiet atmosphere that is delightful. The staff is very friendly, and overall provide fantastic customer service. The menu features sandwiches and salads that are surpsingly delicous. The coffee featured on the menu is mediocre at best. One thing to note is after placing an order it takes a bit of time for the staff to make your order, often after I place my order I can wait anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes before I receive my order. Overall a pleasent expierence and I look forward to enjoying this new Cafe in Saint Joseph! read more
