The moment I walked inside, I felt like I had stepped back into my childhood. I grew up in another country, and this place reminded me of the small village stores I remember from years ago. It brought back a lot of good memories. Everything here feels homemade. Not "homestyle" as a marketing slogan, but actually homemade. You can tell people take pride in what they make. We tried the cinnamon rolls, a couple of fried pies, fresh lemonade, and later took home some jam as well. The cherry fried pie was probably my favorite, and the cinnamon roll was incredibly soft and fresh. Nothing tasted mass-produced. One thing I really appreciated was the atmosphere. No rush, no pressure, just friendly people doing their work. The kids working at the register were polite, explained everything we asked about, and made us feel welcome. We spent about $19 for everything we bought, which felt fair considering the quality and the fact that almost everything is made from scratch. If you're driving through this part of Missouri, I'd definitely recommend stopping here. The chef came out and asked if I'd like to have the cinnamon roll heated up, she said, "trust me", and she was right. We were going to take these items to go and eat at a park because we had the dog but we couldn't even make it to the car. The cinnamon roll was calling me - it was absolutely divine and the breakfast burrito was cheesy, stuffed with potatoes, and really hit the spot.
