First and last time here. I got the Korean BBQ bowl. The rice was undercooked, the beef was over cooked and chewy. It was heavily sauced to the point I couldn't eat it. My first time in this part of Missouri and I found this absolute gem of a worker/Manager/ chef/ dynamo/ non stop happy smiling human being who made me the best rice bowls two days in a row. Loads of Love! There are ingredients and pictures on a photo menu board that look good. When they are made right in front of you, 4 feet away on the other side of the glass with class and care with Xavier checking with you " You said well done right? You stated extra black beans - some more?" Then he generously pours the Sweet Asian dressing and bbq sauce on top of that shrimp bowl masterpiece ( video ) Really flavorful and perfect black beans. Really tender and tasty rice. The end result - a magnificent mmmmmmm great finger licking good classic that left me speechless. I love the menu options - salads, wraps, rice bowls. Love the build your own with very nice options - the peppers, jalapeños, onions, banana peppers and mushrooms were my fav and go to hot veggie grilled items. . The Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, nachos and burritos are on my Monday to Wednesday must have menu. Loved the soda options at the fountain - Dr Pepper, sugar free Root beer and Pepsi Zero. Loved the simple interior. Loved the self help counter with plasticware, napkins, straws and ketchup and condiments. Love PepperJax Grill and the stellar Xavier. read more

Don't get a chicken and cheese quesadilla. Everyone will say "I don't know how to make it" and push your chicken around for 20 minutes until someone puts 2 crumbs of cheese and chicken on bread and fold it up and give it to you! read more

Food was very good but the service & attitude of a young lady named Tiffany was horrendous. She obviously didn't want to be there & had everything on her mind except what she was being paid to do. With staff like that it ruins the ambiance of an otherwise great meal. Will not return, might DoorDash but won't return to the restaurant Pepper J, it would be great if the matter was addressed further. However I won't be posting my contact information here. Ordered through the app. Got to the store at the time it was supposed to be ready. No one even looked at me for 15 minutes. They made everyone in lines order. After waiting another 10 minutes I asked someone for a refund. 10 more minutes and a phone call they think they got it refunded. Never again. read more

The food quality is still very good and I trust their cooking, cleanliness and preparation (as opposed to Chipotle's), but their prices for a simple lunch have gone through the ROOF! I can't eat gluten but these people were nice enough to clean the grill for me so I could have the filling to take home and make it on my bread at home . I don't have issues with most crossovers and it didn't bother me. I have a friend who is severely allergic and the first time it didn't hurt her but the second time it did. I am gluten intolerant. Friendly service, like that you can see the food, very fresh ingredients. We had the veggie bowl with rice, pintos, black beans, grilled veggies, raw veggies and no dairy or dressing. Would have given it a 5 stars if they had a separate grill for vegetarian and or vegans. Pretty pricey but the servings are huge and we have enough for dinner later. read more

Hard to pass up a cheese steak sandwich. Stopped in for dinner and got the famous cheese steak. It wasn't too bad. Had them load it up with peppers, onions and jalapeños. Then they topped it with 4 slices of swiss cheese. They grill everything up right in front of you then slap it on a toasted hoagie bun. I also got cheese fries with pepper jack cheese smothered all over the top! It was worth the trip alone. read more

First time here, I got the beef Philly, I was asked if I wanted double meat, I asked how much extra is that, he told me $5, no way since the sandwich is $10. You can watch them grill the meat, onions and pepper. They put it in a bun and you move down the line, they asked if I wanted cheese sauce on it, how much extra is that, $2.50 no thanks. I have always had a great cheese steak from pepper jax grill. I entered a clean store with friendly staff cooking my order. I went with the steak philly with extra onion, green bell peppers cheese and mushrooms at no additional cost. The french fries were nice and hot fresh out of the fryer. Once you are done with your meal staff comes around and picks up your tray. The male restroom was clean. I will be returning again, I would like to try a cheese steak with cheese wiz some time soon just curious on who makes one. read more

So rude! I realize it was during the lunch time and they were busy but the cashier had absolutely no idea what she was doing. I brought it to her attention that she was giving me the wrong order and she turned around and walked away. Absolutely unprofessional! So we've been here multiple times, it's usually good. But today was by far the worst experience ever. My wife picked up two rice bowls to go, we live 25 mins away, get home the rice is hard and uncooked. So no big deal things happen. So we call the pepper jacks at the Frederick location and Ty ( the so called manager) picks up. We let him know that we were just there 30 mins ago and that the rice bowls we got are uncooked. His response was "yeah we know, our rice cooker went out." He didn't apologize, didn't offer for a refund, or even offer to take our name down so next time we came in the meal would be free. He didn't say anything after the first response. So we let him know that we couldn't just drive another 1 hr round trip back right now to have them make another meal. So he's like "well you can bring the bowl back in and show us and we'll make you a new one. " The manager knows their rice machine is down but still wants someone to bring the bowl back in and tomorrow so they could make a new one. Instead of just taking down our names so we can get a meal next time we're in town. So I started to let them know how unprofessional he's being and he hangs up on me. The only reason why I'm deciding to leave this review is because of their lack of care to attempt to resolve this issue. So pepper jacks you might want to consider having a talk with Ty the manager. read more

Freaking amazing place! Im allergic to fish and shellfish. As soon as I told them this they stopped everything to clean the entire grill, everyone changed gloves and I got 5 star treatment. When I told them I couldn't believe they would do that for me they told me I deserved to eat their like everyone else! They said they do it several times throughout the week for allergies and vegetarians. So many places just blow me off and tell me not to eat at their restaurants due to my allergy, but not Pepper Jax! I give you praise to everyone! I don't live in St Joe anymore and it's the last place I thought I would find vegetarian options at a restaurant, let alone have the staff ask if I'd like then to clean the grill and change their gloves!! I was so impressed. Most restaurants that say they have vegetarian options don't make an effort to keep from cross contaminating, but how refreshing to have had it happen. Good sandwich, but it's not authentic! I lived in Philly when I was active duty Navy and stationed there. I had a steak at least twice a week out there, and to be true, the ORIGINAL only uses Cheese-Whiz. Also, omit the green bell pepper to maintain integrity. I'm not sure how a place can say they have the best Philly when you can't taste the meat over the seasoning and they have no cheese options (you're stuck with Swiss-American). I've tried both the phillies and the rice bowls and have left both times feeling "meh". There are much better places to get a rice bowl and way better options for a philly. And it's far too pricey for what you get. On the plus side - they have pretty good fries. read more
