This review is for the vanilla milkshake I just had. Can I tell you, this is the best bargain there is in all of St. Joe? Seriously. I got a large vanilla milkshake through the drive-thru window. Service was super fast even though I could see a line of people inside. My milkshake was thick and cold. It tastes like it is made with real, fresh, full-fat ice cream. It's so thick and cold that it was hard to suck through the straw, but hey, that's my problem! And it's an excellent problem to have. Man, this was good. AND IT WAS ONLY $3.25!!!! I can't believe how great of a bargain that is. Y'all, go get yourself a milkshake! And while you're at it, their tenderloins are good too. read more

Stopped by here, because I knew the food was good. I have been here a handful of times, and always like the food quality, and this trip did not disappoint in that area. The burger was fresh, with fresh vegetables, and tasted great. The onion rings were hot, and perfectly cooked. The reason for the 3 star rating is the service. The young man that served me, made it feel as if my being there was annoying to him. He was almost rude in his attitude, giving the feel of "here's your food so now leave", instead of being welcoming at all. This wasn't the first time I have gotten this vibe from the workers here (probably one of the reasons I don't stop often), but this was probably the best (worst) example of it. A very down home greasy spoon type burger place. Very old and a bit run down, but I suppose that's the charm. The food was OK, nothing really special. It was fairly busy at lunch, so I think it has a local following. read more

Fords web page states they are open 10:AM to 10:PM on Saturday. When I got there at 9:10 PM on 7/27 2024 a female employee standing outside told me they were closed. I told her their web page states they are opened till 10:PM on Saturday. She said no they close at 9:PM. I know I was there at 9:30 PM the previous Saturday. I guess what they post means nothing. tonight I ate at fords it was about 8:30 at might I ordered a chicken sandwich and fries the meat was pink meaning it's not cooked right. I also got a chocolate shake. It was all milky and really gross. The service was nasty and unacceptable and disrespectful. I don't recommend this place. So I went there yesterday and my food wasn't even cooked all the way and the French fries where burnt BLACK all the way I don't know if it's just cause its almost closing time and I forgot my phone at home so i did not get any pictures and it smelt very bad And my friends chicken sandwich was literally PINK meaning it's not cooked all the way so never coming again and I got a chocolate shake it was all milky like feels like it tasted like I had no chocolate in it just straight milk. so I don't recommend at all I will be not returning and it was very greasy. read more

Stumbling around St Joseph one afternoon, we happened on Fords Drive in. a small old style home town burger joint. This is normally right up my alley. Ordered the Double American Burger combo..pretty basic. No questions were asked when ordering except what beverage you wanted. My burger came with mayo. which is a pet peeve of mine. Mayo does not belong on beef. After scraping that off with a french fry I had to stand in line to ask for mustard. Place was fairly busy for 130 on a Saturday. Unfortunately the mustard did not help. I have not experienced tasteless beef before....this was the first. It was a mouthful of nothing, not even the onion or mustard made a difference. Wished I had selected the Reuben the menu, The place was full of people...they must be doing something right...........Right? Fries were extremely small nubs and not all that hot.Soda was the best thing I had mixed more on the syrup side than water. Probably double the sugar content that it should have. I mentioned that the place was full of people, what I need to throw in, is that the people were outnumbered by the flies in the dining room...If you counted the collection of dead ones in the windows, it outnumbered the people in the whole neighborhood. This is one time I would have driven on to McDonalds than stopping at this drive in. Maybe it was an off day for them, but only one chance will be given here. read more

The Good: The food is pretty good. The double catfish and catfish sandwich was very good. Not greasy or fishy tasting. Our group also had a Philly cheesesteak. It was good for being a midwest cheesesteak. Had plenty of meat at least. The best thing there is the hot pepper balls, hands down. The Bad: The place is not very clean. The worst: The help sucks. We had a group and each couple ordered and paid seperatly. I literly thought I was going to need to physically place my own order. The kid couldn't even hand me back my debit card even though I was standing there with my hand out. No, this was not some policy, this was pure laziness. Ye,s our experience was worse than the uncleanliness if that tells you anything. Watch your prices though. Ordering a "special" is NOT cheaper than ordering individual items. read more

Basic, American-style, drive-in food - and reasonably priced. (I won't say "cheap" - but you get a meal that will fill you up!) Basic eat-in amenities; eclectic clientele. The Tenderloin is good. In this town, everyone claims to have "the best" Tenderloin. OK, maybe. If we go with "Top Tier" and "The Rest", then Ford's is definitely in that "Top Tier". I have fond memories of eating at Fords when I was a kid.. Both the north end and sound end locations. I guess Fords is how I imagine a fast food restaurant was back in the 60s. Everyone I know has a running joke that Fords takes an hour to make your food if you go through the drive thru, but that's why you go inside! I like the nostalgia of this place and the diverse menu. No reviews and I know this place has been here a long, long time, so I thought I'd give it a plug based on one visit. Two meals had, breakfast sandwich which was greasy, HOT and good. Didn't actually finish it, had a few bites left. Will have that again, would be a great hangover meal. Wife had the tenderloin and while I know she liked it, didn't really say much about it at all. I've been near many times they make a fairly good cheese burger and there French fries are pretty good to. The one aspect I do not like about Fords is that I seem to have a very hard time getting the staff to give me the appropriate amount of condiments for my food. That's what keeps me from giving fords 4 stars. To go into that further I went there with my father and we ordered 10 cheese burgers 2 chicken sandwiches and 4 large fries and I asked the women for around 15-20 packs of ketchup there was around 4-5 packs not enough for the food I ordered. read more
