It's a smoke house... order MEAT! They brought a mini cornbread to the table right off. It's good. I will ask for more butter for it. We ordered a meat daddy platter which says served 4-6. I would agree. We wanted lots of leftovers. We got burnt ends, pork belly burnt ends, pulled pork, sliced brisket and corned beef. The burnt ends were to die for! The pork belly--ooh my G! Got the Mac n cheese and twice baked potato, fries and it came with more cornbread and pickles. I also ordered a small side of Cole slaw. Because you have to try the slaw... Twice baked pot stuff is good. But not amazing too me. I would put in more cheese and bacon. Not whip potato so much. Or maybe they are instant. But good flavor Mac n Cheese was epic! I can imagine how good the meals with the Mac n cheese and meat are. Pickles are excellent. Crunchy/dilly Coleslaw is really good. I LOvE a vinegar based slaw and this has a mayo dressing but it's light and not drowning the cabbage. It tastes great. Got a small baked beans because I wanted to try it. No self control. They were AMAZING! Way better than the potato's. Fries were crispy and had a great crunchy outside. Yummmm We ordered all this so we would have meals the next day. Totally worth it. The meat daddy JR would have been way more appropriate. Bathrooms were immaculate and had funny decor. Service was quick and bar looked like it had a nice selection. They had carbliss! Cute little bbq spot. We were greeted by a friendly server who brought us complimentary cornbread. The cornbread is fantastic! We ordered pulled pork nachos and a half pound of burnt ends. The burnt ends were good, nice seasoning and decent bark. The nachos had to be sent back as the pork was colder than room temp on first try. Second time around they were great. The house sauces are pretty unique. Heavy on the balsamic flavors. The spiciest one was our favorite. They make ice tea in house and it was perfect. Visited today from Indiana. Murphy's Smokin Meats is excellent BBQ and a true hidden gem. The brisket is tender and deeply smoky, ribs fall off the bone, pulled pork is juicy and flavorful everything tastes fresh. My thoughts because ive been to both. Its better than Arthur Bryant's and Jack Stack in my opinion. Generous portions, fair prices, friendly service, and no crowds. If you're near KC or St. Joseph, go it's the best-kept secret for real-deal barbecue. 5 stars! read more

We had a fantastic lunch at Murphy's Smokin Meats in St. Joseph, MO! Service was friendly and fast, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The meal started with complimentary mini cornbread muffins drizzled with honey butter--such a nice touch! We just had lunch. It was great. We were seated promptly. Not a very large place but had plenty of room. Our waitress was very sweet and helpful with this being our first time. Had some delicious warm honey cornbread to start. Since mother's Day they gave me a free mango mimosa which was delicious. My hubby and I split the Meat Daddy Jr Platter. It came with 3 meats and 2 sides. It said it feeds 2-3 people. We ordered the pulled pork 1/4 #, 2 pork ribs - very meaty, and 4 sweet chili wings. All were cooked great but I loved the pulled pork the best. Sides were potato casserole and the baked beans. Would get those again. Also came with 2 more loaves of corn bread. My main reason for doing the review is that we are headed back this way at the end of July and we want to come back. read more

Stepping out of the car, you smell the mouthwatering aroma of smoked meat. The honey butter cornbread is a delight. My husband LOVED the brat bacon bomb appetizers. The brisket is solid. The coleslaw is nice and balanced--not sloppy wet and not overly sweet. The smoked chicken is good, just a little dry, and same can be said for the turkey. Found this out of the way place on a whim. Always on the hunt for new BBQ places. This place does not disappoint! In fact it was as good as just about any of the "famous" KC area bbq places. I listened as they spoke with other tables and was impressed how attentive they were. They tag teamed each others tables too. Just some of the best service we've had in a long time. They start off with some honey cornbread at no charge. It was really good. We tried the ham, burnt ends, ribs and pulled pork. All tasted very good, but the portions are a bit small. The sides on the other hand were big. Beans and Mac and cheese were pretty good. Their BBQ sauce was not. It's made in house and has balsamic vinegar in it. A lot of it. Completely takes away from the meat. There are no other options. Next time we may get it to go so we can use a sauce we like. read more

St Joe hasn't had anything as far as a sit down BBQ restaurant in years, that was worth the TP hanging in the bathroom. Stumbled across Murphys accidentally tonight and it impressed me and my buddy by far. 15 years we have traveled around and ate all over. Tonight we found a new stop to have on the schedule! The Murphys themselves were in the restaurant and their staff was welcoming and quick. I like to ask what the best thing to order is, and the waitresses all had the same answer. Came in on a Saturday afternoon, the first thing we ordered was an appetizer called brat bacon bombs, so good!! Then ordered the burnt ends with twice baked potato casserole and jalapeño cheesy corn. Before my food came they brought me a mini corn bread, this was a nice sweet treat before the meal. The food was amazing! We tried Murthy's for the first time today. As soon as we walked in, my kids decided to turn into angry, argumentative tornadoes. The staff was super nice and wasn't phased by them at all, actually helped calm them down with coloring books and crayons. My first impression with what they did with the building was stunning!
