Roland is great. I contacted him to help move a very heavy desk I was interested in purchasing on craigslist across town. I called him ahead of seeing the desk in person to get an idea of how much it'd cost me. He gave me a ballpark but requested some additional information that helped him narrow down his estimate. Very little lead-time was required (just a few days) and he worked around both parties' available schedules. Not only was Roland very responsive and helpful in giving me an estimate, but on the ball with communication and flexible with payment options. Nice to know there are movers out there that are not only versatile with their offerings (e.g, no 3 hour minimum; happy to accept one-off or small jobs) but accept that in this day and age, people want a myriad of payment options. Look, anyone with muscles can move something heavy, and anyone with a brain can do it without destroying your house in the process - but being friendly, courteous, communicative, low-key, responsive, and reliable are not skills everyone possesses - however, Roland & Co do. The large wood and leather behemoth had lived in it's basement lair with it's little brother undisturbed for years, confident that it would be safe forever, due to the narrow 1925 staircase protecting it. I just moved across town from a 1.5 bedroom apartment to a 2-bed, 2-story home, and I just couldn't bear to do the moving myself or to enlist my friends. I deserved this, I told myself. We recently moved from a condo into a larger house. Prior to moving Roland showed up, did a quick tour of the condo and later gave us what was an accurate estimate. The move was conducted in two phases. Since there were a fair amount of fragile items, these were moved the day before the main move. Very effective. On the day of the main move Roland showed up with his 3 man team and they worked brilliantly together to execute the move over about an 8 hour period. This included wrestling for a half hour with a huge dresser, trying all possible configurations, that was to have gone upstairs. His guys are really serious about getting everything moved to the correct place! Given how onerous moving is, our experience with Roland Pro Movers was highly satisfying: swift, precise and flawless in its execution. My job was small but inconvenient. I threw birthday party on a rooftop in Portland and needed patio furniture moved from NE Portland to the venue in SE Portland at a specific time mid day. The venue manager was not available and parking was not convenient when the moving truck arrived but Roland followed up with the appropriate parties and made it work. The furniture had to be picked up at 10:30pm that same night and returned to it's original location, however no one could be there to meet the moving truck. I had to trust that it would make it back and in good condition. ProMovers totally delivered on both and Roland was a pleasure to work with. My husband and I used Roland and his team to move from our house in the Hawthorne district (on a very busy and narrow street) to a new house 20 blocks away in Ladd's Addition. While we were in the planning phase, Roland did a very thorough walk-through of our house and we discussed how he planned to move several large pieces of furniture that had been assembled in the house, due to their size. He came over the day before the move to disassemble the pieces and I found out that he had actually gone to the local company where I purchased them in order to get a tutorial on their construction! Needless to say, I was very pleased by his preparation and thorough approach. During the packing phase, I purchased boxes from Roland and he brought them to the house, saving me a lot of time. On the day of the move, he and his team worked long hours to complete the move and were cheerful and upbeat the entire time. They handled all of our possessions with great care and helped us rearrange them inside the house (in some cases, several times!). They also had to disassemble several other pieces in order to move them and get them up a tight staircase, and all was done with easygoing expertise and great professionalism. Moving is stressful and I felt that proMovers really provided a high-quality service for us during the whole process. He was able to arrive at the point of pick up for a CL purchase with little notice - I think within an hour and a half of when I knew I could buy a chaise lounge from a seller. I couldn't move it though and he completely took care of it. He called before getting on the road from the seller to my apartment, showed up in the time he said it would take him, and brought the piece in...then patiently moved some furniture around for me as I really couldn't do it on my own, which was above and beyond what he agreed to do. The price a little high for the local move of 1 piece, but I'd definitely use him again. And I don't really blame him as gas prices are outrageous. And he did the extras so it worked out. read more

So this was my first time ever using a moving company, I searched all moving company's and read up on all there reviews to get a better picture and at first I was trying to find the cheapest one I could because I couldn't afford anything too much because I purchased my first home and all my savings went to the down payment. When Roland gave me a call I still was very hesitant because he wanted to see pictures of both houses and address and I didn't want anything to happen fraudulently. But after talking to Roland I felt at ease because he definitely knew what he was talking about in wanting to see what it was going to take the day they would come out to move me. We he came they got right to work and everything seemed good until we finally got to the new house one of his employee's put a dent in my dinning room wall 3 of my pictures had the glass shattered and a frame broken, I also had a very expensive marbled top bedroom set the also got dented, and my new entertainment was also scrapped and dented. I recently just tried hooking up my computer for the first time and the screen is shattered. I have left several emails to him and have gotten nothing back mind you I was charged a $165 fee to hold my moving date and the final payment after it took them an entire day to move my stuff even leaving me with a truck load to still move on my own because it didn't fit in the truck was over $1600. I would never recommend them to anyone. I'm know trying to find a way to take him to small claims court. read more
