I was pleasantly surprised by the good food and excellent service here. Everything we ate here was superb. And drinks were also really good.

There was a mixup with our reservation at another restaurant nearby that led us to Prohibition River instead. Dominic was professional, friendly and accommodating. We're so glad our plans rerouted us there! Service was excellent and we enjoyed the ambiance and dining experience. For dinner, I had the duck confit. It was delicious and cooked perfectly. The cauliflower puréed was the best. Looking for the perfect night cap? I'd highly recommend the espresso martini...definitely one of the best I've had.

-First Impression- was pretty empty when we went, maybe due to the weather? It was pretty cold and rainy that day. -Food- my eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach. I could barely finish my food! -Service- I'm so sorry I can't remember the young man's name (Tyler? Or Taylor?), but he was very nice and made sure we felt well attended to during our visit -Price- definitely will get a lot of bang for your buck here -Did Not Like- N/A -Noteworthy- Portion size! -Recommend- yes

This was a last min decision and we are so glad our first restaurant was terrible with customer service. We called Prohibition River and they gave us an on the spot reservation. Dominique the owner was very welcoming and accommodating. All staff were great. We ordered several things like the calamari and wings for starters. We followed up with the beef stew , fish n chips, the duck, steak and salmon dishes. Everything was amazing. The beef stew melted right in your mouth. Over all a great experience. It's a small spot so make sure to make your reservation. Thank you for accommodating a party of 6 last minute Mr. Dominique and for a really great experience.

So it's under new management- therefore had to give this a try after several years. Well on the positive love the new decor, lighting and seating. Upon our seating at the bar we're greeted by Candy at the bar. NO complaints about her. But $15 for a John Walker black with no ice when I asked for Johnny on the rocks...then we had too ask for ice...$4.00 for the ice. Well. We tried. Bye bye PHR. My ass will not be in your seats over ICE.

Came here for a mid-week dinner. Place was cute, clean, service was great, and the food was extremely tasty. The waiter was friendly and very patient with us. My sandwich was surprisingly very very good. The house pickles add a nice tart/kick. Fries were slightly salty- but I didn't mind bc I like salt :) Beet salad was also very good. For a summer evening, couldn't go wrong with a spritzer. 100% coming back again. Love finding local places that feel like hidden gems.

Went to Prohibition River for brunch with my group of friends. Thankfully they were able to seat my large group of friends for a Sunday brunch-- so that was a plus! We started with some drinks and then my sister and I decided to share some appetizers. The menu has a great variety of sandwiches, salads, and entrees. So for appetizers we chose the grilled cheese shots which came with a roasted tomato and garlic bisque for dipping, angry calamari that were coated in a sweet and spicy sauce, and the short rib quesadilla. Everything was WOW! The grilled cheese was my favorite! I also had ordered some fries and not going to lie they were really good as well! I also had ordered a cappuccino and it was a great way to end my meal. Service was good and all the waiters were attentive. Street parking is plentiful but there is also parking lots nearby. Great place to visit for lunch or dinner in the Nyack area.

We had a really great experience here! It was the day of the Halloween parade. Got lucky with a table just before it came by. We enjoyed delicious drinks. I had a Quiona salad with berries and feta. Nice light and healthy! My husband had the wings but I didn't like what sauce is choose home sweet home . Our waitress Amanda was great! Perfect spot to watch the parade. It was so much fun!! Be back again..

I'm giving this spot 4.5 stars and seriously only knocking off a point because they seemed to be short staffed the day I went in. Not this locations fault at all. Prohibition River is the really nice bar, in a very quant area of Nyack. I stopped in here, by pure luck, because I happened to be in the area. I sat at the bar, and let me just say, this is a NICE bar. There are plenty of TVs to watch, if you wanted something a little more laid back than sitting at a table. For my meal, I started out with the tomato bisque and it was very creamy! It also had a little kick to it. It felt like I was being hugged from the inside, eating that soup. I'm still dreaming about it! Then for my entree, I ordered the beet salad and added salmon to it. I did not leave a crumb on my plate. I'd love to come back in the future because this really is a nice spot for date night, or just to have a cocktail with friends.

Dominican Dove Ceviche, chicken Black N Blue Wings, Apple egg rolls, steak frites, pork chops

The food was absolutely phenomenal. We had the Dominican Dove ceviche, wings and crab dip to start and each appetizer was better than the last. Then we had the steak frites and the pork chop and each bite was delicious. The potatoes that come with the pork chops are so good! And that sauce that comes with both the steak and the pork chops is finger licking good. We thought we wouldn't have room for dessert but made room for the delicious crème brûlée and the apple egg rolls!!! Chef Winston Thomas is bringing the heat with all of these new dishes! Murphy our server was very friendly and welcoming. And so patient because there were so many great dishes on the menu, we couldn't make a decision right away. Great ambiance. Great food. Great vibes!

My favorite restaurant in Nyack! Consistently great food. Basic American cuisine. The short rib sandwich is to die for.

We had the Bayou Poutine, Not Your Memaw's Deviled Eggs, Blackened Chicken Alfredo, Jambalaya and Chicken Po'Boy. Flavors were on point! All the spices they used came together perfectly! Didn't even need to ask for hot sauce and I love my heat! Our waiter (forgot his name, sorry!) was super attentive and was the only server there with about 6 other tables. Impressive Did I mention they do live music at 7pm and 90s hip hop at 8pm for $10 cover charge? I want to assume that's a fri/sat kinda thing and it becomes more of a crowded bar vibe? Yup I'll def be back to check that out and grab the other dishes I wanted to try!

I saw they had a nice lunch special. 1/2 of a sandwich with soup or salad. Unfortunately, they didn't have soup when I was there. The bartender said they were working on it and wouldn't have it ready for another hour or so. So I got the catfish blackened half sandwich with salad He brought out the sandwich and said that they had made up a full sandwich. The salad was good nice amount of lettuce and some good tomatoes. Too many onions for me . The sandwich looked very good. Nice fresh bread not too soft or firm. Very flavorful and fresh toppings, cucumber, and other flavors all mixed together with the blackened catfish. It was a absolutely good portion for the price I would definitely come back here again and try something else from the menu maybe they're gumbo which looked very good on the menu

It's a gastropub, of which I've enjoyed from time to time. The food is good. They have good burgers. They have good other stuff. The interior is rustic. The empanadas would have been very good if cooked a bit longer since they were a bit gummy inside. The shrimp ceviche was served in red sauce and was absent of a decent amount of shrimp. It was tasty but more of a salsa rather than a ceviche. The rib special lacked the promise of the flavors of the chipotle bbq sauce that was promised and described in the menu -- the pork lacked flavor. The chicken Milanese appeared to have been deep fried in a fryer rather than pan fried per tradition. This made the thin slices a bit tough and chewy which was unexpected. Disappointing that I didn't listen to my server who tried to steer me in a different direction as he advised. We haven't been wowed here the last three visits but will give it another shot in a few weeks to see if things have changed for the better. Listen to your servers, people!!
