Sad to say, I'm not quite sure what all the hype is about. We had to sit outside because the indoor dining room was fully booked for the show. The night actually started off great. Our server was funny, personable, and attentive, especially when it came to drinks and refills. Things started going downhill when I received my entree, the Poor Man's Truffle. Unfortunately, the only way this dish lived up to its name was in how little the supposedly high-quality ingredients seemed to come through. The dish itself is fairly simple, which normally isn't a bad thing when the ingredients are meant to speak for themselves. With Belper Knolle, truffle oil, pistachio pesto, tomato, fennel, and arugula, I expected something flavorful and well balanced. Instead, the entire dish tasted incredibly mild. Belper Knolle is typically a bold, salty, peppery cheese, and I could visibly see the black pepper around the edges of the thin shavings, but the flavor barely registered. I also couldn't taste the truffle oil at all. There was visible oil pooling at the bottom of the plate, but no noticeable truffle flavor. I understand pistachio pesto tends to be more subtle than a traditional basil pesto, but altogether, this dish just fell completely flat for me. The presentation didn't help either. It looked more like something that had been scooped from a pan and dropped onto the plate than a thoughtfully plated entree. When a dish misses both on flavor and presentation, that's when it becomes a real disappointment for me. I will say the gnocchi itself was cooked well, which was one of the few positives. I also tried the burger, and it was significantly better than my pasta. However, the very small sprinkle of bacon was a little baffling considering it was an additional upcharge. Where the night really went downhill was at the end of the meal. I had been excited to try the beignets because that isn't a dessert I see on menus very often. Our entree plates were cleared, and then we waited about 20 minutes before our server returned and asked whether we were ready for the check. Dessert wasn't mentioned, and by that point our table was tired of waiting, so we decided to skip it and asked for our checks. Then our server disappeared for another 30 minutes. We eventually had to flag down a hostess who was seating another table and let her know that we were still waiting for the check. About five minutes later, our server finally returned and casually explained how "crazy" the night had gotten because of the show. I understand restaurants get busy, but the apology felt very dismissive after we had waited nearly an hour from finishing our entrees to finally receiving the check. It genuinely felt like our table had simply been forgotten. I also want to add that I tend to hold restaurants like this to a higher standard. I'm a big believer in "you get what you pay for." If I'm eating at a fast-food spot or somewhere inexpensive and casual, there's only so much room to complain. But when a restaurant has prices like this, highlights premium ingredients on the menu, and presents itself as a more elevated dining experience, I think that naturally opens the food and service up to more criticism. At that price point, I expect the quality, presentation, and overall experience to reflect what I'm paying for. My final takeaway is that maybe I ordered the wrong dish. Pesto is one of my favorite things, so I almost always want to give a pesto-based dish a try. Unfortunately, Prohibition's pesto gnocchi was not it for me. I also saw that they describe themselves as a scratch kitchen using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, which I don't necessarily doubt. What confused me was how so many ingredients that should have distinct flavors somehow tasted like almost nothing. If your goal is interesting drinks and a fun show, this is probably still a place worth considering. Since we sat outside, I can't speak on the show part, but it seems to be a big hit. Food-wise, though, it missed the mark for me.
Am I the only guy who gets weirded out when going to a burlesque show, with their spouse also present? "Don't worry honey, it's okay to look, and also throw money at the half-naked women! I promise you won't get in trouble!" Uh-huh. ;) Alright, I digress. Awkwardness aside, Prohibition is a really great place to enjoy a classy dinner, where the meat is served on a place AND on stage, and the cheesecake comes with the price of admission! Speaking of admission, as my wife and I were guests, being shepherded along by our friend, I cannot recall exactly what the "cover charge" was (not much, if I remember correctly...less than $20 for two?), and if reservations are *required*, I cannot say for certain, but I would say they are *recommended* at the very least, because our showtime was packed. Anyway, once paid, you are escorted through a secret bookcase door (SLC residents sure do love their speakeasies, don't they?), and into the dining hall and saloon, where you're soon to have your socks knocked off...well, someone's clothes are coming off, anyway! We were given a table that I dismissively thought was tucked away pretty far in the back and out of the way, but it ended up being one of the best seats in the house, as the table where the performers gathered, prepped, and returned to was just adjacent to us, so we were about as up close and personal as you can get, without getting yourselves arrested. Each of the dancers brought their own style, flair, and wardrobe to their performances, which were spirited and energetic, and a touch racy, without devolving into outright debauchery. It may be an (18+? 21+?) venue, but alcohol restrictions aside, I wouldn't hesitate to take older, more mature teens to a show with similar content. We ordered a smattering of smaller dishes, as we weren't particularly hungry, but the Mishima Wagyu tacos were fantastic (as you would expect), as was the Fedora Fin (Za'atar-crusted ahi tuna), and all of our cocktails. As the show is timed event with multiple performances per night, both food and bev are fired out of the kitchen/bar faster than the bullets from a Tommy Gun, but with far better accuracy. The whole operation here was honestly very impressive, from start to finish. Coming from a progressive city like Portland, it's always struck me a little odd that places that, by reputation, strike you as more conservative end up having some of the best, most wild entertainment venues, that you only wish you had back home. Prohibition is one of these places that I would rather see in my downtown, instead of the litany of seedy strip joints pushing for maximum titilation, but with only a fraction of the class and sophistication. Prohibition is good, clean fun, masquerading as something illicit, which is the heart of what makes it work so well.
Quiet restaurant set up like a speakeasy. Service is quick. Prices are reasonable. The food is good. They're busier on the weekends but the wait is never too bad. Definitely a go to brunch spot!
I'd been here once before for dinner and had such a wonderful experience. I've heard great things about the brunch and never had the chance to try it for myself until now and wow! I will say that most of the menu items seem to be on the heavier side so I opted for the wagyu steak salad and I am so glad I did, it was phenomenal! I love a good salad but I find that most salads at restaurants aren't anything to write home about--that was not the case here. This was one of the best salads I have ever had. My favorite part was the sheer amount of steak sprinkled on top and that it was all pre-cut in the perfect little bite-sized morsels and cooked to perfection. AMAZING! The only "complaint" I have is that I personally prefer a vinaigrette that's more vinegary and less sweet, but I enjoyed this one nonetheless. My sister's chicken and waffles looked amazing and the bite I had was delicious. Our sever was very nice, food came out quicker than expected, and the food runner was a sweetheart too. And you simply cannot beat the speakeasy vibe, so fun! We had an absolutely fantastic experience and I will be returning.
We have been here a handful of times for brunch. Walking into the "antique shop" was fun, and you can purchase the antiques! We had more fun checking out the antiques than we should have at a speakeasy. We always have great service, fun hosts, and exceptional food! The chicken and waffles was good, the chicken was definitely the best part. The Cobb salad was very fresh, the blue cheese crumbles weren't overwhelming the perfect addition to the salad. The thick bacon in the salad was delicious, The tomatoes weren't ripe, and they lacked flavor. The chicken breast on the salad was grilled to perfection, it was so good! The french toast was so delicious , you have to get the French toast!
The restaurant is only for adults because they serve alcohol. I like the restaurant atmosphere. The foods were very good. The cauliflower appetizer was surprisingly amazing. My pasta dish was very good as well. The service was excellent.. love everything about it. Will come back again.
This place is quite the experience. You walk in through a small shop that has a hidden entrance to the speakeasy once you check in with the "clerk". The lighting is dim in the best way, very cute ambiance with colorful stained glass lamps and Edison bulbs hanging from the ceiling. Our waitress, Natalia, was very friendly and helpful. She helped me pick a drink that was SO GOOD. We ordered: - "on the hook" appetizer - $19 - "fedora fin" ahi salad - $19 - "the patsy burger" - $28 - "pep in your step" pasta - $34 - "the gatsby" cocktail - $16 - "whiskey & wonder" - $19 - "saloon macaroon" - $17 Everything tasted delicious. The portions were pretty small, especially for the pasta. However, this feels pretty expected because you're not coming here for the portion sizes. You're coming for the quality of the food, the ambiance, and the speakeasy experience. Live music some nights of the week (Wed - Sat? Don't quote me) I will definitely be back!
Came for music, but jazz was not jazz, so a bit disappointed with that. It was more folk music. Usually come for blues, think I'll stick to that. The drinks made up for the music and saved the night. We'll be back for Bluesday Tuesday! Service was decent and we love the atmosphere at Prohibition! Maybe vet music a little better, that's only suggestion for improvement!
Prohibition is always a great stop! Their drinks are amazing and the vibe is immaculate. We love their Tommy gun tacos but got the fish tacos this time and they were also delicious! Highly recommend either of them. This is a great spot for date night!
Came back here for my birthday. Man, this place does not disappoint. The food tastes immaculate, the servers are so professional and checked in on us quite frequently, and the ambiance is so welcoming and comfortable. We were there late enough to get some live music too, which is a great time. Definitely one of the top 3 best food spots in SLC in my opinion. Will def be coming back.
Cool atmosphere, and a great selection of cocktails. My husband and I stopped by for drinks after a movie, and were happily surprised to find such an interesting spot in the area. Service was attentive. My only complaint was that after asking our waiter for a recommendation between two cocktails, he suggested another one without warning me about the price. At $35, it was quite more pricey than the average $18 on the menu, including the ones I had originally picked. That's unfortunate because based on that experience, I don't think I'd go back.

Came in for brunch with my friends to celebrate our birthdays since we are all within a few weeks. I usually get the eggs Benedict but was wanting something more sweet than savory, but this was both sweet and savory actually. Perfectly cooked brioche french toast with amazing flavor, strawberries and nuts, which I usually am not a fan of nuts on stuff but this was perfect, added the crunch that was satisfying. The waitress also offered to add hash browns, so of course I did, with bacon and cheese, and OMG so delicious, had a little spice kick in there that was too die for. I also had the Passion fruit mimosa and the lavender mimosa, and of course they were delicious! This is by far my favorite bar for brunch, dinner, or appetizers, great atmosphere, great service, amazing food, and fabulous drinks! read more

The service was great. The decor was very cute, even the restrooms were cute. They had live music and it was very relaxing place. I went to visit my friends in Salt Lake City & they took me to Prohibition for a fun night out! I liked the atmosphere of the place; a fun speakeasy that serves delicious cocktails, food and puts on an entertaining burlesque show. We dressed up in our flapper best and they were having a Halloween themed show for the night. We tried a few drinks from the menu, the Flapper Barbie had a nice kick to it from the spicy prickly pear. They have a good food menu, including some veggie choices, which we really enjoyed the battered cauliflower and the bootlegger nachos. The staff were friendly and the waiter was attentive all night. I would recommend making reservations to the shows as it seemed like it was a popular place and they were turning away walk ins! I enjoyed the visit and would probably go back! read more

If you're looking for a speakeasy charm, Prohibition is a place to add to your list. While they show on maps as a "bar" it very is much more of a sit down restaurant. You will want to make reservations in advance and make sure to ask about entertainment times so you don't miss out! Weekends do require an entry fee. We ordered the Lollipop Gams as an appetizer. These were big, saucy and flavorful. Although a little tough rather than tender. For an entree I ordered the "Beast Burger" and my partner ordered the "Smokehouse Burger," to split & try both. WOW. Big, delicious, cooked to our requested temperature and just an experience itself eating one. Paired with a side of your choice. When you go to a restaurant like Prohibition, you go for the experience. They aced the food aspect, however, I was not impressed with our server. He was quick and uninterested, setting our mood for the evening a bit off. Finally, Friday night's entertainment was a Burlesque Show and though the dancers took pride in their work, it was very amateur. What a cool place to go! Prohibition is a speakeasy type of bar. Walking in you would never know you are about to enter a beautiful bar. The theming was awesome and the service was great. All the waiters had uniforms that really brought the whole theme together. The food and drinks were very good! I thought the service was fast and efficient. I can't wait to come back. read more

Came for breakfast. Got a nice booth along back wall. Ordered Bloody Mary, which was too hot for me. I had eggs Benedict that were good. Biscuits were a hit. Drinks and food are outstanding! We havent had a single negative for anything on their menu or establishment. However, I do feel like it's worth mentioning that it is one of the highest priced cocktail menus in the valley. Incredibly tasty and visually stunning drinks, but I don't think that justifies the price when compared to other high end bars in the valley. read more

Got a last min reservation for dinner to celebrate my man's birthday - he LOVES a good bourbon or whiskey cocktail, and they did NOT disappoint one bit. From the moment we walked in, it was pure bliss! We had been gravely disappointed by another steakhouse in Park City a couple days prior and needed to make up for that... had no idea just how much we would love it. I had 2 "Nojito" cocktails and they were DELICIOUS - didn't even miss the booze... Jasiel made the suggestion and it's like he knew exactly what I needed. He made the experience extra elevated for us in every way as out of towner's who needed a dinner WIN. We started with the Poutine and Lollipop wings, both of which were full of great flavor and prepared so perfectly. I couldn't resist trying their Soup de Jour which was Tomato Bisque and couldn't get enough of it! Then we transitioned to our entrees, Elephant Ears (Elk Steaks) and the Alfred-"O" (squash ravioli with shrimp and a lovely red pepper cream sauce... YUMMMMMMM!!!! Last but not least, Jasiel put magic bday candles on the Bourbon Bread Pudding to seal the deal of our prohibition-style celebration. Truly a magical and relaxing experience all in one. Thank you for hosting us! We look forward to coming back again on our next trip to SLC - this was certainly the best dinner we had on our trip and so so so glad we got a spot on a busy Saturday. read more

Went to this establishment and I gotta say, no complaints about it. Our Server Francisco R while busy was very on the spot and attentive. The food was very delicious and filling, properly seasoned as chef Ramsey would say lol. You know i could really go on and on about the food but i rather your taste buds tell you.. So thise place is very nice whats cool is the entrance into the dining area is behind a bookcase. So when we first got there I was like wait a min this is a small room, how does this work? So make a reservation and remember 15 mins early is on time because 10 after your res you've lost it. Oh ya they had a burlesque show so you'll enjoy that as well. What an amazing speakeasy! You NEED TO BE 21 to get in the restaurant. You walk into a little room that looks like a small store. They will scan you ID. They then take you through a "bookcase door". Once you get inside (see pictures). They have a stage, music on Wednesday & Thursday nights. Then the have burlesque on Friday and Saturday night. First of all this is a bar that serves food, not a restaurant that serves alcohol. So don't forget your ID. The conversation with the door guy was the best thing about this place. The décor is really fun, but you're not coming here for the décor. After all of our party arrived, we were led through the secret door into the dining area, which is quite large with plenty of empty tables. (which in retrospect is a red flag) It took a while for the waitress to come to our table, and greet us. We were being patient knowing there is a lack of staffing due to Covid. I ordered a specialty drink , Rosie's Cocoa (Rosemary Infused Dark Hot Cocoa, Bourbon Cream) $14 - This drink is really good, but took forever to get to our table. Come to find out we had to wait for the "bartender" to show up. For appetizers we had the Lollipop Gams - (chicken wings, house buffalo sauce, blue cheese crumbles) - $18 - The wings were over cooked, dry, and to greasy for my liking. The Entrees we ordered were the Beast Burger with fries $27, Tommy Gun Tacos $22, and the Moonshine Cherry Wagyu Steak $39. As the waitress warned us the Beast Burger is spicy. Do we still want to order it... Yes, yes, we do, and YES it is spicy! The burger, and the fries came out hot, and the burger looked exactly like the picture on the menu. However, both the taco's, and the steak dinner came out COLD including cold potatoes and cold asparagus! Even the jam on the steak was cold. When the waitress finally came over to check on us, we told her that our meals were cold. Her response was "Well I brought them out as soon as they were plated" Humm if that is true then there is something wrong on the cooks side of things. With the lack of patrons there is NO reason for COLD food. The waitress didn't seem concerned that we both were served cold food. After some debate the person who ordered the taco's insisted that they bring out new ones, and not just try and heat up the cold ones. I had the steak and the waitress said that the "Chef" recommends that I order it medium rare, Ummm No. I told her I wanted mine cooked medium well, with hardly any pink. Did it come out this way, NO, NO it didn't, it came out medium rare just like the chef recommended. The waitress didn't ask if I wanted my meal taken back for a re-heat, just as well. So I just got a doggy bag, and took my meal home, and heated it up, and cooked the meat a little longer for my liking. After what seemed like an eternity, the waitress came back over and said she talked to the manager, and they were willing to give us a slice of pie for the subpar quality of our food today. I don't want a piece of pie, or I would have ordered one. How about taking something off the bill instead. I do have to go home, and use some of my electricity to heat up my cold dinner. Initially we said no to the pie, but then thought well....we might as well take the one piece of pie home, and share it between us for a late night snack. We weren't impressed by the quality of food (especially for the high prices) and definitely for the lack of service with a smile. read more

My husband and I had dinner with friends for the first time here. Loved the decor as you walk in. When you check in they ask everyone for the ID card and you wait in this room until your table is ready. When your table is ready they open the hidden door that leads you into the dining area. The food and drinks were very good. My husband and I split the Salmon that had pine nuts on top. The Salmon on set on top risotto with mushrooms, it was very good. We also ordered the French onion soup which had a good amount of cheese, we liked it. Great atmosphere and service. read more

I've always had a soft spot for bars setup to look like Speakeasys from the Roaring Twenties. An old friend, knowing my preference, took me to Prohibition recently. I felt like I died and went to Heaven! We arrived at an adorable storefront that's actually the secret entrance to the uber-cool Speakeasy which is Prohibition. They even have some very talented Burlesque dancers, which ups the fun factor and makes the vibe even more authentic :-) To relieve our acute thirst problem, we were "prescribed" some delicious specialty cocktails. These were tasty and strong - just what the doctor ordered! Over and above their outstanding cocktails and live entertainment, the food menu here is excellent. We shared several items and enjoyed all of them. My two favorites were the Tommy Gun tacos and the French Onion soup. The former was nicely executed and well presented, made with a flour tortilla on the outside, with a crunchy corn tortilla on the inside; the latter was packed with flavor and very tasty. We had an incredibly fun evening at Prohibition, with great drinks, excellent food, and outstanding service. I look forward to returning soon! read more
