Wow wow wow, I absolutely loved JINYA. First time here and it did not disappoint. It was a little busy for a Friday lunch, but we grabbed seats at the bar and they were great spots too. We ordered the $18 lunch special with tonkotsu ramen, and I got the seaweed salad. Everything was soooo yummy. I also tried the Mangosakitini and a mojito. The mango drink had fresh mango at the bottom and was really good. Drinks were around $12-14. The restaurant itself was cozy with great lighting and an excellent use of space. It felt comfortable without being crowded, and they also offer outdoor dining. We even got a noodle refill for just $4, which honestly sealed the deal. Best place ever. I've been meaning to try this place for a while and when I was doing errands and saw one nearby, I decided to stop by. I went around noon and was immediately sat at the bar area. My server was Brittany and she was so nice and friendly. She immediately brought me water and asked if I had any questions. She asked if I wanted to sign up for the rewards and I immediately said yes and I got a free nikuman bun! It was absolutely delicious! I love that they have lunch specials throughout the week and a brunch special for the weekends. Not many places do specials on the weekends besides happy hours. I chose the tokyo yotai classic and it was such a fun idea to Collab with Demon slayer for those cute spoons! It was extremely loud and they seemed a bit frustrated when I needed to move tables and put noise canceling headphones in (I can still hear). Overall, good experience. I had the Tonkatsu Red with a spice setting of 3 out of 8. Definitely hot enough for me. If you want it hotter, there is a container of hot spice on the table or counter. Good portions, char siu was good. The ajitsuke tamago or spiced egg was a whole egg. Nice that they give you a whole egg, but I wish it was cut in half. Eating a whole egg was a bit of a nuisance. The noodles were the straight kind, typical for a tonkotsu broth. Overall, very good. Not THE best I've had but definitely worthy of 5 stars. Service was cheerful. They greet you with "irasshai" (welcome) and a "domo arrigato" as you leave. All said in a gaijin (Caucasian) accent. Nice Asian-ish vibe in the restaurant. I sat at the ramen bar. There are small pots of gyoza sauce, spice, and hot sauce available. $17 for most of their bowls. Not cheap, but reasonably priced for market. Of course, they have other menu items as well. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Ramen is one of my favorite things in the world. If there's a chance to locate a place that serves it while I'm traveling for work, I will. JINYA is my current go-to in the Murray, UT area. I get there a few times a year for work and it's very close to my hotel. It's a small place. There's a little bar that faces the kitchen, where I've sat on my visits. The staff has always been really friendly and very attentive. The last time I went, I got a sake mojito -- it was unusual but really good! Okay, I got two. The ramen's great. The JINYA Tonkotsu Black is a favorite. I've also gotten some sides and all were good -- especially the sticky bun! The gyoza was also a good choice. Very rude hosts I came in for dinner and everybody in the front was rude. They have four employees standing around the front doing nothing. Instead of being played and tell me a timeframe when I can sit down with the table they tell me that I have no choice to leave, and I have an hour wait which was fine, but then to get all the staring and laughing from their employees is kind of sad. The broth was deep in flavor and the noodles were cooked properly. The red was disappointing. The red had bean sprouts in it. Sometimes you couldn't tell if you were chewing on the noodle or the bean sprouts. The noodles were not properly cooked. The spice overpowered the flavor of the broth. Service was very good. So this is probably a little different type of review but here goes!! I don't really love Ramen but my adult kids do! They rave about the Ramen so there's that! Holy cow, this is probably the best ramen in Salt Lake...the flavors in the spicy chicken ramen are so deep and powerful. The salmon poke tacos were so fresh and refreshing. I could eat 10 of them, haha. The server was nice, but it seemed like they were trying to handle too many tables. They seemed very rushed. The ambiance was very warm and welcoming, but we were seated at a community table across from each other so that was slightly odd. Came for a late lunch/early dinner on a Thursday with only 2 other parties seated so we did not have to wait in this tiny restaurant. I am never a fan of mood lighting and loud music in restaurants but it was a tame level of both of these so I could still talk and read the menu without issue. This place is great if you are TWO people. Tiny tiny seating area, if you're overweight like I am do not go here, you will take up half the dinning room. I had to wait over an hour for my party of 7 to be seated. When we finally were granted entrance, that's right you have to wait outside, it took 45+ for our food. Went after work to gab a bite, went to Jinya Ramen and got excellent Ramen! Service was fast and uneventful. A cool thing is that they carry Orion beer from Okinawa (recommended!) . Jinya is the best ramen I've consistently gotten in Utah. The Murray location is the OG spot and rarely lets me down. This location is not designed for big groups. I think they tried to make it authentic like true Japanese spots with limited seating. I tried something new there, the premium red which allows you to choose your spice level from 1-10. I overheard the waiter tell the couple next to us that the heat is an Utah heat, meaning it's not a true heat. And knowing Japanese cuisine isn't traditionally spicy, I went with a level 10. And regretted it immediately. I blame myself but the thick brother was thicker than normal from all the peppers and it took my breath away with the first sip. JINYA is the best ramen place!! I first tried it in Vancouver and have loved it since. I was so happy when I found out they opened in Utah! The Salmon Poke Mini Tacos were amazing! The caramelized cauliflower was also pretty good, but I wished it could be cooked longer so that it'd be softer. Their appetizers in general taste really good, but the portions are usually small and quite expensive. The Tonkotsu Black is my go-to and never disappoints. The Tonkotsu Spicy and Chicken Ramen were also great. I didn't like the Shrimp Wonton Ramen as much though. I have been a frequenter of Jinya over the years and I just realized I've never taken a moment to give them a raving review! Ramen has always been one of my favorite foods and I guarantee that if you're looking for the perfect bowl of ramen to warm your soul on a cold day, this is the place! While a bowl of ramen can be incredibly filling on its own, one thing I would suggest is to not shy away from trying their small plates/appetizers. I have tried a handful of items from this section of their menu and have not yet been disappointed once. They also offer specials on occasion that are always worth a try. I once enjoyed a special that was essentially a softshell crab in a steam bun/taco and I dream about it to this day. For this trip, we opted to start with the Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna and I would highly recommend this dish to start. Where texture and flavor are concerned, these bites are an amuse-bouche! The consistency of the tuna in contrast with the crispy rice makes for the perfect bite (if you're more on the audacious side, I would call this a "one biter," but it can be a mouthful). As for our entrees, I don't think I've strayed from ordering the Spicy Creamy Vegan ramen (add mushrooms) every time. Call me a creature of habit, but I don't dare stray from this dish that truly brings me joy. Although this is a vegan dish and I am not vegan, I have always loved this menu option because it is so filling, rich, and hearty! I'm always completely satiated after a meal at Jinya. If I can make one suggestion that might improve your own experience when trying this dish, opt for less raw white onion or remove it entirely. While I do enjoy raw onion, it seems a little out of place sometimes and in this dish, I don't feel as though it adds much other than a crisp bite on occasion. Also a creature of habit, my husband orders the Tonkotsu Black whenever we visit and has enjoyed it every time. He would highly suggest it for anyone who likes the pork based broth and thinner noodle variety. What I will leave you with is that the food is absolutely delicious and I think it's a testament to the truth of that by the fact that this location is constantly packed. If I can impress upon you ONE thing, it is to not underestimate how quickly it can get busy on a weeknight. Even on most weeknights, we have had to wait anywhere from a couple minutes to an hour, BUT just know that it will be ABSOLUTELY worth the wait!! read more

This place has good ramen. It was the jinya bun that did it for me though, that stuff literally melts as soon as you bite into it. The pork is tender and the bun is super soft! The tonkotsu is flavorful, but don't be scared of the red stuff (chili paste?) it makes all the difference as it enhanced the ramen's flavor and pairs well with the meat. Service was good, my water was never empty and our server was knowledgeable about the menu items. She gave good recommendations and answered every one of our questions diligently. What put it over the top for me was when she didn't know the answer to one of our questions about the ingredients. This lady went to ask one of the chefs and got back to us almost immediately. Didn't quite hit 5 stars for me, I finished my water fairly quickly and never got a refill. The kitchen is open, so when they handed the ramen out to our server and we see her look at the bowl and say "that looks weird" to the chef before bringing it to us, it made us kinda nervous. You get a pretty generous bowl of ramen, and I love all the different toppings you can add. My only negative to this location is the size. It is pretty small in there. The tables are also not individual, they are long and you end up sitting next to others.
