Pizza was great but we mistakenly got the cracker crust and it was too thin and dry for our liking. We would try a different style next time! The salad was also a little too (bleu) cheesy. And the wait time was insanely long. Hoping to try the other location!

Shoutout my brotha Tony and everyone else going for a dream in food! Love the story and the passion behind the dedication to the profession. Pull up, stay eatin and eat even more for me!

I've been a longtime fan of Professor Pizza and used to recommend it all the time, which makes this really disappointing to write. We ordered two pizzas (one gluten-free deluxe pepperoni) and both were a letdown. There was barely any sauce, and some slices were basically just bread and cheese. For ~$70 before tip and delivery, the quality didn't come close to what it used to be. Additionally, I ordered the gabagool pizza, and while the menu didn't list olives, it showed up covered in both green and black olives. Unfortunately, olives are pretty much the one food I don't eat, so that pizza ended up being completely inedible for me. Hoping this was just an off night, but the drop in quality compared to past experiences makes us not want to go back anytime soon.

Been here a few times. Finally had the cracker crust. So crispy and yummy. Excellent servers. Pretty quick for pizza. Lots of beverages and appetizers to choose from. Outside seating is nice and entertaining as we can see the Starbucks patio with lots of interesting characters.

Pizza is 10/10, worth the price. Chill vibes inside. Took a reasonable time for them to make them entire pizza. And whipped ricotta is very good.

You can't go to Chicago and not have some pizza. Ambiance here seemed super chill. They have plenty of seating at the bar, booths or tables. My family and I really enjoyed the Sicilian style gluten free pizza here last Saturday. The pizza bread was so fluffy and scrumptious. So heavenly! The sauce and over all flavor it had of basil and garlic was so mouthwatering. We also had some honey hot wings that were gluten free and they did not disappoint they were finger licking good. Even the celery was so fresh and crunchy. Needless to say we left feeling complete. The service was very friendly as soon as we came in we were greeted and our server was prompt about getting everything we wanted. He offered us to order with him or they also have a barcode you can scan and put in the order yourself. We decided to just go ahead and order with him. It wasn't too busy that day and we already knew what we wanted prior to stepping in. Highly recommend this pizza spot to everyone because they are so inclusive and delicious! This is another spot on my list to come back to!

After some less than stellar volleyball performances, my friends and I were pretty hungry. Professor Pizza absolutely hit the spot. They have several celiac-safe gluten free options that are absolutely delicious. The ordering is completely online and you can easily mark that you have a gluten allergy. I wish I lived closer to the Professor because it's such a convenient and tasty option.

Decent pizza spot! Located in the heart of Old Town by a ton of other bars, shops, and restaurants. The vibe inside is cool and looks like a fun place to go to with friends. I really liked the food but the only thing I would've done different is get all our pizza thin crust. We ordered one pie grandma style and one Detroit style. The grandma style is considered "thin" but it was so thick... Just having 2 very thick pizzas was so filling. The overall flavor of both were really good though. My fav was the white pie. The mozz onion rings are a must!

What can I say? The deluxe pepperoni on New York style crust left me speechless. Perfect size slices, amazing flavor that was elevated by the whipped ricotta delicately arranged on the pie, and the thick crust was cooked to perfection. You can't go wrong with pepperoni and hot honey. The night got better when I saw Professor Pizza himself in the iconic sweatsuit, sunglasses and chain! Deduction on a 5th star due to challenges with the online ordering system. The concept is great: scan a QR code to place orders, split checks, and close out at your leisure. BUT it wasn't intuitive to use and I think it's still fairly new, as a few servers were also unsure on how to navigate it. The QR code ordering takes away the opportunity for a more personable experience, but staff did a nice job still checking in. Maybe adding in an option to let staff know you'd like a box and are ready to go would be helpful? I'd absolutely come back here again!

Went for lunch to Professor Pizza. The ambiance was good. The food was good too, a bit pricey though. The place did not have many vegetarian/vegan options. Also a feedback, the menu does not have 'V= Vegetarian/Vegan' or 'GF= Gluten Free' written in their menu against those options. It could be confusing for customers who do not eat meat. Honestly, I was not very happy with the service. There was only one server during our visit. Although the restaurant wasn't very busy--with just two other tables occupied--the service was still lacking. The server seemed new. She greeted us politely, but when it came to taking our order, she appeared confused and was unable to answer our questions. After each question, she would ask us to wait while she went inside to check with someone, which left us feeling quite confused. When it was time to pay, we asked to split the bill three ways--as any group of friends would normally do at a restaurant--but she struggled with the system. She stood there for 10 minutes trying to figure it out, and then took our cards inside, presumably to ask someone for help again. She was gone for over 15 minutes, and we had no idea what was happening. My feedback would be to ensure that staff are thoroughly trained before handling customers on their own. If they are still undergoing training, it would be helpful if they politely informed customers that they are new and still learning. That small acknowledgment would go a long way in setting expectations and improving the overall customer experience.

Went here for a weekend lunch with family on a Saturday and it wasn't super busy. Started off with the spinach artichoke dip and that was delicious but I felt like there wasn't enough bread for the amount of dip. We got the pepperoni and deluxe pepperoni both Sicilian style. Very crunchy and saucey and fluffy! I prefer thin crust but these thicker pieces will definitely fill you up! We got two pizzas for a group of three adults and two kids and we probably could've done just one pizza. Service was great, our waitress was nice and our waters were never empty.

Saw this place on tik tok and it looked good so i figured i would give it a try! I started off with an espresso martini which was okay. I felt like there were too many ingredients which made it more chocolatey than espresso. Then we got the garlic knots which were amazing! Both sauces on the side and the butter drenched knots were a solid 8/10. For the main course we got the small Detroit style pepperoni deluxe pizza. Being from Detroit we were not a huge fan of the crust. It was way too crunchy and hard to chew. The rest of the pizza was phenomenal and large portions. 1 piece filled us up! Overall this place had really high quality ingredients and was decent. The only thing that we didn't like was the price. The pizza alone was $40 which is insane to me for 6 pieces. If you want good quality pizza and are okay with paying the price this is the place for you!

Humboldt Pie

Solid pizza spot!! I loved it for all the pizza styles it offers (and its cute professor pizza mascot). They offer several different kinds of pizza based on crust thickness, from thin tavern style, all the way to thick (Detroit I think). All the pizzas we saw arrive at other people's tables looked so good and it appeared that Detroit and grandma style were really popular. I appreciated that the server told us up front that the wait time for pizza depends on the thickness (style), and she estimated 30-40 min for the first 3 (from thin to thicker) and I think 45-60ish min for the thicker ones. You choose the style of pizza and then the toppings. We ordered the tavern style and it actually came out much quicker than estimated! Which is great because they set our expectations to wait a bit longer. It maybe took like 15-20 minutes so not bad at all. We got the Humboldt pie which has pepperoni, pineapple, roasted red peppers, onion, and ranch on top. It was actually quite tasty! The tavern style crust was perfectly thin and crispy and had good structural integrity to hold all the toppings. My only feedback is that I wish the pineapple was a bit softer/juicier. I think maybe it was canned or not ripe enough. But the flavor was still good! I want to come back to try the Detroit and grandma style! It's in a great location in Old Town/near North Ave beach, so whether you're out drinking or wrapping up a beach day, it's a great spot to grab a pizza with friends.

Lobster & squid ink pasta was indulgent and cooked perfectly. Chocolate Cake was moist and decadent. Lemon meringue was textbook. I'd recommend all of these items. I found the appetizer, Beet & Burrata salad, to be the only slight disappointment. Friends were happy with the flavors but I was disappointed with the very few slices and pieces of beets and arugula. Our server, Marissa, and her fellow staff were very good; attentive to our table and friendly. Classy, comfortable ambience.

It felt like a classy, old-fashioned gangster vibe. The staff were dressed sharp, and they had live music, an upright bass, piano, and vocalist, which really added to the ambience. It was a little cold in the room we were put on, and we couldn't see the live music. But I enjoyed it. The service was okay. The servers were polite and professional, but things were a little slow. A couple times we wondered if we were forgotten. We did arrive for our reservation about 10 mins late, and it took them about 10 mins from when we arrived to get us seated. It took a while for them to take our order, and between courses there seemed a somewhat excessive gap. Not an egregious wait, but a bit annoying. The food and drinks were about the same. Not terrible, but kinda left something to be desired. Our drinks were pretty standard for what we ordered. For food we got the asparagus and chopped salad to share. I ordered the filet and my wife got the halibut. The bread and chopped salad were delicious! The asparagus wasn't impressive, good, but not anything to write home about. The filet was cooked perfect, but was a little over salted. The most disappointing was that the halibut was overcooked. It was dry and a little tough as a result. We were there for my wife's birthday, and they did treat us to a complementary dessert for it, which was a nice surprise. Overall we enjoyed ourselves, but we left feeling like it just fell short of what we expected.

It's decorated so beautifully. Love the hanging plants. It's obviously a hot spot, yet isn't at all pretentious. I wish we could have tried every single thing on the menu, it all sounded delectable. Alas, we'd had a huge lunch so we weren't starving when dinner time arrived. My girlfriends and I shared the zucchini fritters, triangoli pasta, tuna crudo and pork ribs. All four dishes were great. But that bite of crudo was *chef's kiss*. So perfectly salty and briny and good. We had a few great cocktails to round things out. If you're visiting from out of town, I recommend prioritizing a meal at Rose Mary (they also have another location) if you're able to get a ressie!

Today, innovation layered on top of innovation makes 'normal' food seem humdrum, and that's where Rose Mary shines. Getting a prime time reservation here is like trying to nail Jello to the wall. The hack is to do it online at 12:00:01 AM exactly 30 days before the desired date; preferred time slots tend to fill up quickly. The Missus and I went for dinner on a Sunday. The décor is contemporary and exciting; even when the restaurant is crowded (which I'm told is always), you don't feel hemmed in. The fusion menu is unequivocally unique. I suppose you could call it "Crotalian." Cevapi meets cacio e pepe! Our server was professional and efficient. She knew every nuance of the menu and food prep, and was there whenever we needed something. Although the menu is not huge, there are some vegetarian-friendly items and also the kitchen offers a dairy-free menu, perfect for my cheese-averse Missus. Rose Mary encourages diners to order at least two dishes per person and share, share, share. But c'mon, our utensils were never replenished and we also had to reuse the same dinner plates for each course. We feasted on roasted pear salad, sweet potato, branzino, and pork ribs pampanella. Composed of high-quality ingredients and inventive flavor combinations, each dish blew us completely away. I particularly enjoyed the pork ribs - Italianized Texas BBQ plated in a pool of spicy sweet & sour sauce. The meat (tender but thankfully NOT 'fall-off-the-bone') had a nice crunchy char amplified by chopped walnuts. I requested the accompanying "cabbage & yogurt relish" (Greek coleslaw, I suppose) served on the side, not dolloped onto the ribs. For dessert, my Missus had chocolate gelato and I went for the cherry sorbetta. The latter's flavor was so intense and tart, it was like sucking on a raw lemon. Not my favorite. Italian-inspired coffee by Caffé Umbria was superb and rich.

The flavor was delicious, the sticky, honey-like sauce was great, and they were tender with a nice crisp. The artichoke (carciofo alla giudia) was the next best and super unexpected, though I guess it should've been expected given the name of the restaurant. Really well cooked. And the feet suppli (ragu) was also really tasty, though I didn't really taste too much beef but the rice and cheese and crispy outside were great. The pastas/pizzas were split. The gnocchetti with mushrooms was my favorite. It was creamy and a good amount of mushrooms. The carbonara was pretty good. The guanciale was the best part, with the rest of the sauce leaving a little something to be desired. The boscaiola pizza wasn't my favorite. I didn't really taste much sausage and the crunchy veggies were a little overpowering for me. The veal (vitello) was excellent. The prosciutto added the right amount of salty and and there was a bunch of sauce. The pork (maiale) wasn't my favorite. I thought the belly portion was kind of chewy - it stuck in my teeth - and I'm not the biggest fan of a really bell peppery salsa verde. We got the asparagus die which was creamy and mushroomy and I really liked! We finished with a tiramisu which was really big and great!

There were plenty of reservations so I figured the place had a variety of seating options and was large. Both were the case. Large place with clean designs and dark accents, Things started out with weird energy from the hostess station when we checked in. There were two girls there - one smaller and darker hair who was nice and friendly, and the other a blondish haired girl who gave off some incredible "what are you doing here" energy asking if we had a reservation. She genuinely looked disappointed when I said we did and gave our name. Really weird. Anyway - we were sat at our table and an army of guys came and switched out glasses, gave refills, and plates etc. However, our waitress was there for the ordering, then at the very end. A manager type came to get our refills which took forever and in one instance came all the way from the bar dropped off by the bartender (it was an iced tea) We started with one of the four pizzas that had little to no normalcy in terms of ingredients. We ordered the mortadella which came with fennel sausage, (over the top name for broccoli rabe), and cheese. Main issue with this was the broccoli rabe on it also included the stalks. Had to pick those off bc they were inedible. For my entree I ordered the rigatoni carbonara which was outstanding - really liked the silky consistency of the sauce- a lot of times carbonara sauces get gritty and separate. This place did it right. The [bacon] was crispy yet tender. For dessert, I got the pistachio cream cake. It was ok. Overall, it was ok. The entree saved things, if I were to return I would hope to see our waitress more, not have to wait for a refill to come all way from the front of the house by the bartender, and to not have the hostess treat me like I didn't belong immediately walking in the door. I would seriously recommend relocating that person to another department in the business.

Julio was professional, attentive, and generous. He brought out meatballs on the house, which were excellent. I ordered calamari, rigatoni alla vodka with shrimp, and what I believe was a chocolate torte for dessert (also on the house, which I was not expecting). Everything was spot on. The rigatoni in particular stood out. It was made in house and had the kind of texture and quality you notice right away. The Manager (Lance) also stopped by, having been present when I explained what had happened earlier. That kind of awareness and follow-through matters more than people realize. It what separates a place that serves food from a place that understands hospitality. By the time I was finishing dessert, I found myself watching pizzas go out to nearby tables and immediately reconsidering my menu choices for the evening. That's usually a good sign. The host who initially joked about the wait time also came by at the end of my meal. She was polite, thoughtful, and clearly intentional about making sure the experience landed well. I appreciated this gesture. When the bill came, I asked what the total would have been without the discounts and complimentary items. Once I had that number, I tipped Julio the difference. Or at least don't ask a question when the answer is ignored. The pappardelle was extremely disappointing. Noodles were too soft and the sauce was very bland. Since the pasta is in a takeout container, the problem is exacerbated for the noodles at the bottom since they can't air out at all. Would not order this again. In comparison the cavatelli was a flavor bomb. Very garlicky and good amount of sun dried tomato, and just miles above the pappardelle in the flavor department. Texture of the cavatelli was better too, and much closer to al dente. Chicken seemed a teeny bit old and tough. Maybe this is on roughly the same level or a little lower as the Vapiano's that used to be in Chicago (food-wise, loses ambiance-wise) if you order right, but it's definitely not as good as the Vapiano's in Europe. At least, not currently. Very convenient location right by the Morgan green line. Would I visit again? Hard to say.
