I have been going here for 4 years, I hop around to different cities and move around a lot so often I end up trying out different practitioners for hair, wax, nails, just about all the needs of a well-groomed girl. My conclusion is that NO ONE, NO WHERE ELSE can do it better than these ladies. Tina and Nazma are just amazing. Skillful, warm, friendly, accommodating, honest, and just so damn good at what they do. Literally they are the only practitioners that do a Brazilian that is painless AND will not result in ingrown hairs and other issues of amateur wax services. For both thread and waxing. If you need major brow 911 Tina is a true expert. She has helped me grow out and reshape my brows over the course of 2 years - finally they are looking amazing without having to draw them in. She remembered every single time I saw her what I was trying to do, and just knew the best shape for me without me even knowing, and has helped bring that to fruition after a lifetime of over plucking and DIY shaping. It was close to my school and I just wanted to check it out. I don't really know good threading places so when my friend recommended it to me, I had to try it out. The service was good and they were really nice and accommodating​. I didn't make an appointment and I walked in, I had to wait about 30 minutes, but since I was in St. Marks, I went to grab a slice of pizza. When I came back, they were able to take me in right away. Even though it hurt a lot, at least my eyebrows looked good. They cleaned up and shaped my eyebrows well. The price is just right and they have a promotion where if you get your something done at the studio done 6 times then you get the 7th time for free! Nowhere else can beat the quality and price of the eyebrow threading here - only $6 - pocket change! They are also very fast, so even if you have to wait, it won't be a long time. I got a Brazilian here also. The waxer is very thorough and detailed, making sure she gets every stray hair (even plucking at the end). She's also very sweet and doesn't make you feel awkward at all as she gets all up in your business. Getting your hairs violently ripped out of your gentle lady parts is never ever a painless or enjoyable experience, but until I discovered Professional Threading Studio, my experiences have ranges from dreadful to dreadfully expensive. My experience here was neither dreadful nor expensive so I obviously will forever only get my waxing done here. Everything about this place was just right: the no double dipping policy, the friendliness and professionalism of the women working here, the temperature of the wax, the cleanliness of the entire studio, the efficiency (I was in and out of there in about 15 minutes) and of course, the price! You can't beat $25 for a Brazilian, let alone the best Brazilian in the world. I love this threading studio! As an Indian woman, I have tried many threading places downtown NYC, and this is by far the best. I have been an exclusive customer for over 2 years (I am there once every 10 days like clockwork). Tina and Nazima are super professional, quick and have a fantastic eye for shaping eyebrows. I can always give them direction on how much I want cleaned up or how thin I want to go. I also get ALL of my waxing done at Professional Threading studio. Tina is so quick and efficient, with minimal pain. On top of it all, the location is so central, I usually pop by on my way home. On Wednesday I scheduled an appointment to receive a Brazilian. I was blown away by the price: $25 for a Brazilian in the city?! The lady who did my Brazilian was extremely knowledgable in the field and despite the language barrier, she was able to convey her message clearly. While waiting for a spot to open up at the Japanese Restaurant below, I decided to get my eye brows done. Considering I hadn't gotten them done in 2 months, they did a good job. But while sitting on the chair, I thought to myself, this is is the longest amount of time that I've spent sitting in a chair getting my eyebrows threaded. I could feel the girl threading one hair at a time. I mean, it doesn't hurt me, but I sat there thinking, I've definitely gone to better places. There was Groupon at this salon for a Brazilian wax - of course I yelped it. Most of the reviews were positive, so, I bought the Groupon and headed down to the salon and I haven't been to any other salon since. Tina is absolutely AMAZING!! I've been coming here for a few years and really love the convenience and price to get my brows threaded. I don't need to come often but the ladies here are so polite and nice it's always a good experience. Recently I came when there was quite a line at lunch. 2 girls waited before me and 2 more came in after me. It's quick so a wait is really no big deal. Sat down, was done in 5min. Typically not this short but - I had a look in the mirror and it looked fine. I went to get lunch next door and realized I walked out without paying! I came back to pay (the ladies were really grateful) and I went on my way. When I got home and brushed my brows I realized 1 got a serious crew cut! Thankfully it's hair and grows back + there was quite a bit she missed elsewhere. I felt really rushed and despite the low price, my next threading will have to be elsewhere. So, I wanted to do Henna for my birthday and decided to try this place since they had good reviews on Yelp. I called and made an appointment with Nazma. She then texted me and told me about her instagram page which was full of designs. She said I could message her and ask her about the pricing. The mehndi took about 10 minutes to complete. My two cousins did it also. My mehndi cost $25. The price varies on the size and design. For example, if you get the design on your hands and want to continue the design on each finger, that will be about $30. Smaller designs are of course cheaper. I would def come back. read more

Okay, 1. They do a good job. I came in for threading and a brow tint and the worker was efficient and my tint lasted a little over a week. Why I can't give more than 3 stars is due to the cleanliness of the salon. From what I've gathered, this location isn't their permanent spot, and they're just using this place until their original location gets renovated but regardless, this new place is dirty. Just walking in, I almost wanted to walk out but the lady was such a sweetheart - I felt terrible leaving. Rattled, torn chairs, blurry mirrors, weird stench, used towels on the chairs, and the worst of it all, the FLIES. There were flies swarming everywhere, including as I was getting my brows down. The lady who worked on my brows apologized for it and said they come when you open the door?? Which didn't make much sense to me at the time. The worst was when she was putting on my tint (and you really don't want to move so the dye doesn't go everywhere), so all these flies were just crawling up my lips, nose, and thighs. It was so gross, and itchy, and just ugh; my skin is still crawling. I guess, you kind of get what you pay for... Prices are extremely fair at this place, so I'd LOVE to be back, but I hope the next time I'm back the flies situation is taken care of. read more

I would recommend ANYONE to this salon!! First and foremost, the ladies there are so compassionate. Totally affordable and no appointment necessary (although recommended). I first discovered this gem when I went in with a groupon for an eyelash tint. The ladies were welcoming and definitely gave the impression that they knew what's up and how to do their work. I decided to go all out and get my eyebrows and a Brazilian wax. I told Tina I wasn't a big fan of threading, so she listened to me and used a tweezer instead. At one point she did NEED to thread a little bit but I completely trusted her. That's the key.... When you come to little salons like this in new York, and they've had plenty of positive reviews, walk in with an open mind. Expectations will never leave you satisfied. The fact is Tina has now been doing my Brazilian wax for months and I trust her entirely to do the perfect job. At first, yes it did hurt, but she ensured me that it would get easier... And it has! Sometimes I come in too early when my hair hasn't grown out completely, AGAIN she does the best she can and tells me if I don't shave and let it grow for the next time, it will come out.. Sometimes people change...and that's exactly what happened to the owner of this place. The last few times I've been here haven't been the most welcoming. For some reason, my regular woman, Nazma, seemed jaded and the quality of my service was indicative of that. My last visit, however, pretty much sealed the deal for me to look for a new threading spot. I arrived earlier than her usual scheduled time and was waiting patiently. There is no longer a bell above the door, so no one even knew I was there. After approximately 10 minutes, on of the other women, Tina, stepped out. I was greeted warmly, and told that Nazma would be arriving soon. Less that 10 minutes later, Nazma arrives. Since I didn't know what time she would be there, I started to organize some reading I had to do for class. During this time, Nazma hurriedly asked me if I was ready. Mind you, there was no one else there, nor did she say she had an appointment. Onto the threading: I sat in the chair and asked her to make a couple of changes. I wanted her to be careful around my hairline since I didn't want it thinned out, I also asked her to leave my sideburns (The hair is very fine and barely noticeable). I guess there must have still been some confusion, because this equated to her completely neglecting my forehead and all of my cheek area. During the session, she wasn't as friendly as I'm used to her being. Also, she had missed some long hairs along my neck and jawline, which I had to tweeze later on myself. I found this place on yelp, and saw that it had chairs and looked legit. Only $5 to get my brows threaded what a steal!! Will be getting my eyebrows done every time I go to NYC since it's so cheap! When I was living in sf I got my eyebrows done weekly since I had an unlimited 3 month membership that I would keep renewing. This I think comes out to the same thing if I got it biweekly. The place was clean, had lots mirrors & the eyebrow chairs. I'm kinda mad the day after I brought my friend and they changed the price to $6 for brows, what is that?!? Came in around 6:40 on a Monday night and was taken care of immediately without any wait! I got my eyebrows and lip threaded and it looked great with minimal redness. The lady working on me would bump her knuckles into my eyelid while threading my other eyebrow which was a little uncomfortable. It's conveniently located in St. Marks, next to a bunch of tattoo parlors and restaurants. The studio is a little weathered down looking, but it's clean and the ladies there definitely know how to tame hair! My first time here was for the $25 Brazilian wax with Tina. She was very understanding, and did her best to make the process quick and painless for me...and it was! I usually leave wax parlors feeling like my skin just ripped off, but this place was wonderful! I was in and out within 10 minutes. They don't double dip here and the facilities were clean. What a relief! The second time I came here, I needed to get my eyebrows threaded. I didn't catch the lady's name, but she was really gentle and thorough. Prior to this, I got my eyebrows threaded at Thread Salon, and it came out really uneven so I asked her to fix it for me. She said she would take care of it, and she did! My brows are now even and clean. :) Make sure to bring cash when you arrive. They accept credit cards too, but they charge a $1 service fee. read more
