Made us feel like a doctor with a soul who cares for their patients. Except the front desk staff were impatient! Then, I went to the main hospital on Mt. Auburn....front office, excellent. Administration staff, who record(ed) first-time visit to the hospital, wonderful too! Personable! Oh! The woman who did my blood work --Horrendous! She persistently dismissed my being combatively (and I hate to say this about a Black given the racial connotations loaded onto us), but she showed complete disregard for me and cut me off when I tried to speak. She was thoroughly dismissive of what I said, even when she pretended she wanted to apologize (to protect her job). I tried to explain to her that I wanted to prepare her for my squeamish behavior when getting shots so she didn't feel daunted by a grown woman screaming over shots . I also tried explaining that I always try to create a safe space with new social interactions. I also get excited when I meet another black woman like me in practices where they are very rare --particularly true where I live! Plus, considering that black women's health is statistically underprioritized and mostly neglected, having a black medic attend to me boosts my hopes of "being seen, heard, and attended to with courtesy"; how wrong! This woman/lab tech was awful! She focused on reminding me she's been doing this work for umpteen years, and nobody has ever complained about her, "I'm very nice." I tried to explain to her, as a teacher, kids are not all the same, and I do not treat kids the same." Oh! She decided to explain my profession to me, like she knows it better, "That's a classroom. It's different...kids are not going anywhere..." Anyway, nothing was left for me but to tell her, "Have a great day!"

During a five hour stay for a fall with head injury and broken rib, vitals were taken only at intake. Despite an elevated BP on intake, monitors were disconnected when the patient was transported for the first CT test and never reconnected. There were no nursing rounds or check ins, and there are no care or discharge notes in the myChart. Discharge did not include a review of care and treatment plan. Simply, here are your instructions (15 pages of notes)you can go now.)

I've been to this location in the past and they have offered competent and compassionate care…read more Today, however, I was in need of care for an eye infection on a Sunday during a holiday weekend. I arrived at 9:00 am, happy to see the clear signage on the doors that it's open 7 Days a week 8am - 8pm, as I yanked on the door handle. It didn't budge. So I called the clinic's number where a chipper message announced that they open at 9:00 am on the weekends. I thought maybe they were a bit late in opening so I decided to try and reserve my place on-line. That didn't work either, that service was not available at this location. Finally, I looked at the website carefully and saw that this location was closed on Sundays and Mondays until the end of the month. Ug! Yes, I should have read the website more carefully. But when you're sick and grumpy it's hard to read confusing websites. The phone message could have warned me, the website could have been clearer. Why couldn't someone put a couple of signs on the windows?

How the heck are people supposed to get tested and help reduce the spread of Covid when this place…read morecan't get their sh$t together? I called and spoke with someone who told me that I couldn't make an appointment but could come as a walk in... I asked if there was a long wait and she replied that "there are only 2-3 people in front of you." So I came in as a walk-in just as the two young kids did in front of me... They walked up to the counter, filled out the registration paperwork and were called in while I was still waiting to be called. I expected it to be fast as there was no one waiting outside and those two young guys were the only 2 ahead of me at that point. When I got to the counter, instead of filling out the paperwork as the kids before me had just done, I was told to scan the code and go back to my car to complete the registration. I did so, and then waited... and waited... and waited... well over an hour at this point. When I called and spoke with someone inside they told me that they had stopped taking walk ins for Covid tests and weren't sure when they would begin doing the tests again... I was told to just keep waiting but that there is a possibility that I would get carrried over to tomorrow... Wait, what?? I had been waiting for over an hour already, and they think it's normal or ok to tell someone that they need to wait 4 hours to be told to come back tomorrow? This is efficient testing? This is BS, is what it is... When I called and spoke to someone in the call center and tried to get some idea of the wait time, I was told that there were now 25 people ahead of me.... Ummm..... what?? I explained that I was just inside to see if there were others waiting and was told that there wouldn't be anyone in the lobby waiting... That's funny as the two young guys were inside waiting, the walk-in lady in her gray scrubs was waiting, along with an elderly couple who had just walked in. But I guess my eyes might be lying to me due to Covid, but as I wasn't able to get tested after waiting and waiting, I'll never get to know... Being a caregiver to someone with ALS, this test is extremely important for me to take yet they make it impossible to live your life, work, see your family and try and get a Covid test to keep those around you safe. If this is how Boston is going to manage testing I can understand why there is such a huge spike in cases here... people just can't be bothered to go through what I did and not get a test... What a waste of time. Update - it's now been over 2 hours and I have yet to receive a call regarding an update or if I'll be able to get my test. I came home about 45 min ago and have been waiting for the call so I could head back... But now since it's dinner time and I didn't get to see my family because I work during the day, I can't see how this joke of an establishment is going to get me in for the test I registered for today. If anything, I would calm this place nothing but a Super Spreader business since they have you come in, scan the symbol so you can register and then make you wait for literally hours... How many people like me had to finally leave? How many of those people are walking around with Covid and don't know it? How many of those people have left their Covid germs there for others to just come and get without getting tested? The BBB and the Cambridge Health Department should seriously look into this mistake of a health center.

From the moment we called ahead to say we were on our way, the staff were incredibly responsive and ready for us when we arrived. They quickly assessed the situation, diagnosed the issue, and carried out the necessary procedures. The clinic itself was very clean, welcoming, and well equipped. Dr. Estes explained everything clearly--what was happening, the prognosis, and what we should do next. The techs / nurses--Kim Nguyen, Kendra Baker, and Jennifer Ducharme--were also wonderful: professional, patient, and very caring. They were attentive throughout the entire process while our Pomeranian was undergoing sedation, and you could tell they genuinely cared. I'm sure they see situations like this every day, but they still treated our dog with the attention and care he needed. Small things like that matter. These are clearly very capable people who could work in many different fields--including human medicine--but they choose to care for pets, and it shows. I would absolutely recommend this clinic and would return again if needed. My one tip: call ahead so they can prepare for your arrival.

She needed immediate care, and many places were closed by that time. It was about 9pm, luckily VEG ER was open, we called and brought our hamster 15 minutes later. They immediately jumped into action checking her symptoms and seeing whatever they could do to help her. Eventually, we were told that she had Urinary Tract Infection, we were offered a few solutions, but one of the main veterinarians who was helping, gently told us the likely outcome. We were able to say goodbye to the hamster, and my daughter got to hold her up to almost the end. They led us into a room so that my daughter and I could discuss next steps, they gave us time and they were very understanding. When we received our pet in her urn, we also received a handwritten card with the signatures of all the VEG ER employees who were telling us that they were sorry for our loss. It was a very sentimental time, and we appreciate everything that VEG ER did for us. If anything every happens to your pet, I recommend VEG ER because of their kindness, also, they are open 24/7 so there is always someone there to help you and your beloved companion.

Seven months later, I had the same symptoms and was told I now needed lab testing before treatment would even be considered. The "standard of care" seems to change depending on the day, which makes it very hard to trust the guidance you're getting. The overall experience feels slow, rigid, and impractical. Messaging takes 30-45 minutes per response, and conversations often get cut off at the end of the day, forcing simple issues to drag into the next day. What's most frustrating is being told to go to urgent care for issues that should reasonably be handled by a primary care provider. That defeats the entire purpose of having a PCP and often results in additional out-of-pocket costs. Even routine care felt limited. During a scheduled physical, I was told I couldn't discuss basic health concerns and had to book (and pay for) a separate visit as a physical was just to "cover the basics". Huh???? Not to mention the NP was cold and short throughout the entire interaction. Overall, this does not feel like accessible or effective primary care. It feels like a fragmented system that adds extra steps, delays, and costs for very basic issues. 0/10 would not recommend.
