I was so grateful to have Dr. Z come to my apartment to care for my newborn and me. Dr. Z is knowledgeable, kind, and flexible. The model of having the first two months of my child's care from home was so comforting- it allowed me and my baby to stay in the home and rest and heal after delivery. Meg from Tova health handled all the admin stuff. She made scheduling, paperwork, and setting-up the patient portal super simple. When it was time to transition beyond the first two months of care, Dr. Z and Meg helped us find the best pediatrician and make sure they had all our records. Awesome experience! I was not able to get out of bed for over a week after the birth, so our first meeting was with her sitting at the foot of my bed. Thank goodness we chose her for my daughter's pediatrician because there was no way I would have been able to take her to an office. I really needed the fourth trimester care to help me process the trauma from birth, and Dr. Z let me cry and repeat the story over and over again. I'll never forget the time she hugged me and promised me something good would come out of it. She was also provided excellent care to my daughter. I will never forget our crazy first meeting and her kindness. She listened and provided me care when my own OB/GYN's office failed to do so. It is absolutely ludicrous the postpartum care we receive. This fourth trimester care model should be mandatory everywhere.

It's a small office, but the receptionist was helpful and friendly. Dr. Mainali himself was very thorough in our first visit, really listening to what we had to say as well as his test results. We felt valued as people, not just as paying customers. He was very helpful when our blood test results came back, in not just telling us the problems, but going through every line of the results (full of acronyms and medical lingo we wouldn't understand on our own) and explaining what everything meant, and why we might care. For many procedures, this small 1-doctor office (he's planning to add a second soon) will have to refer you to others. So, don't expect a hospital-like experience where they can handle everything you could possibly need in the same building. For everything that can be done in-house, though, Everest Healthcare and Dr. Mainali come highly recommended.

The receptionist was on the phone with a woman who was apparently trying to talk to someone about her abdominal pain. The receptionist was not making things easy. After the discussion ended, she hung up the phone, turned to her coworkers and said (loud enough for everyone in the waiting room to hear): "Abdominal pain? She probably just has her period!" Snickers, all around. Haha, funny. A patient who needs to be seen... but can't. This is a practice with doctors who would likely be competent under other circumstances, but have clearly taken on more patients than they can handle. When I needed an appointment for an urgent medical need, the earliest appointment was the following week. I ended up in the emergency room that night -- and it was not the kind of ER visit where one sits leisurely reading through back issues of People magazine in the waiting room. The wait for routine physicals is 6-9 months. Sick patients must undergo rigorous phone pre-screening by a nurse to justify an appointment. ("Why yes, I have had copious yellow mucous, a 101-degree fever, and a raging headache for a week now. I have taken twice the legal dose of antihistamines for someone my size. May I please, please see a doctor?") If you are sick and do manage to wrangle an appointment, it's just more of the same from a burnt-out, slightly patronizing medical staff once you're in the office. Don't get me wrong -- Dr. Katcher and Dr. Weinman (the only doctors I've seen here) would probably be great under other circumstances. Just not these. The support staff, as illustrated by the conversation I overheard, is at best impatient and at worst rude and indifferent. It's unpleasant enough being sick. It's even more unpleasant when you have to justify your need for medical treatment to an annoyed receptionist. And it's unacceptable when the doctors in the practice allow such attitudes by their support staff to go unchecked -- or exhibit such behavior themselves.

Although she is very nice, she, and the office itself, are not accommodating. I had to cancel an appointment due to a work obligation (I'm a teacher) and was told I could not reschedule due to the fact that my doctor was having a baby. I was very happy for her an willing to reschedule a few months later. However, I tried to rebook and I was not allowed to rebook that far in advance. I was told to call back in 6 months. I did. Still they had no idea when she would be returning. I am a teacher so my day begins almost before the sun comes up. Students are in my room before the doctors office opened. They take an hour and a half lunch break which is the same time as my 23 minute lunch break so I couldn't call to set up an appointment then. They stop taking appointments at 4:30. I'm still at school at 4:30 helping students or in faculty meetings. It took me over two weeks of calling to finally get someone on the phone. It was then I found out that she was now only a part time doctor and only taking people in the mornings. I have twice now gone to the CVS minute clinic because I couldn't get a hold of any one to make an appointment to get in for a sinus infection and what I thought might have been strep throat. What is even more annoying is when you do get someone on the phone, they act like it is your fault they can't accommodate you. They become aggravated with me when I can't leave a classroom full of students to go to a doctors appointment. Looks like I'm on the hunt again for a new doctor....

I will probably stay through shear inertia but would encourage those looking for a medical practice to stay away based on my recent experience which has been horrible. They referred me to what they described as a reputable specialist for my procedure. They called me to confirm an appointment with this specialist and I assumed I was all set. A month later, the day of my appointment, I called the specialist office to confirm and discovered that no appointment was ever made. They scheduled an appointment with me for the following month. When I called to complain to Sagov they had no record of the original referral. Now it is two months since my diagnosis and the specialist called to reschedule two weeks later. Assuming I ever get to see a specialist it is now looking like almost three months from diagnosis's to even seeing a specialist. I don't believe my condition is life threatening so think I am fine. However, the referral system is questionable at best and am now doubting the quality of this specialist. Please consider an alternative to Sagov's Family Prqctice Group.

Other doctors certify patients for a full year at the time of the first visit, which is what the law allows. I saw Dr. Uma and she gave me a complete physical, which was fine, but I didn't need one. She talked to me all through it telling me all about how Medical Marijuana works (I already knew quite a bit of this.) What can I say, she was charming. Then she gave me my certification, ( not a hard one, my illness is right in the literature.) But then my certification cancelled after a few months. I went to the pharmacy and was told it was no longer any good. I am not sure what she has to check out after 3 and again after 6 months. The disease will remain and she can't even recommend particular strains, they're not allowed to. I arrived at 9:00 am, happy to see the clear signage on the doors that it's open 7 Days a week 8am - 8pm, as I yanked on the door handle. It didn't budge. So I called the clinic's number where a chipper message announced that they open at 9:00 am on the weekends. I thought maybe they were a bit late in opening so I decided to try and reserve my place on-line. That didn't work either, that service was not available at this location. Finally, I looked at the website carefully and saw that this location was closed on Sundays and Mondays until the end of the month. Ug! Yes, I should have read the website more carefully. But when you're sick and grumpy it's hard to read confusing websites. The phone message could have warned me, the website could have been clearer. Why couldn't someone put a couple of signs on the windows?

How the heck are people supposed to get tested and help reduce the spread of Covid when this place…read morecan't get their sh$t together? I called and spoke with someone who told me that I couldn't make an appointment but could come as a walk in... I asked if there was a long wait and she replied that "there are only 2-3 people in front of you." So I came in as a walk-in just as the two young kids did in front of me... They walked up to the counter, filled out the registration paperwork and were called in while I was still waiting to be called. I expected it to be fast as there was no one waiting outside and those two young guys were the only 2 ahead of me at that point. When I got to the counter, instead of filling out the paperwork as the kids before me had just done, I was told to scan the code and go back to my car to complete the registration. I did so, and then waited... and waited... and waited... well over an hour at this point. When I called and spoke with someone inside they told me that they had stopped taking walk ins for Covid tests and weren't sure when they would begin doing the tests again... I was told to just keep waiting but that there is a possibility that I would get carrried over to tomorrow... Wait, what?? I had been waiting for over an hour already, and they think it's normal or ok to tell someone that they need to wait 4 hours to be told to come back tomorrow? This is efficient testing? This is BS, is what it is... When I called and spoke to someone in the call center and tried to get some idea of the wait time, I was told that there were now 25 people ahead of me.... Ummm..... what?? I explained that I was just inside to see if there were others waiting and was told that there wouldn't be anyone in the lobby waiting... That's funny as the two young guys were inside waiting, the walk-in lady in her gray scrubs was waiting, along with an elderly couple who had just walked in. But I guess my eyes might be lying to me due to Covid, but as I wasn't able to get tested after waiting and waiting, I'll never get to know... Being a caregiver to someone with ALS, this test is extremely important for me to take yet they make it impossible to live your life, work, see your family and try and get a Covid test to keep those around you safe. If this is how Boston is going to manage testing I can understand why there is such a huge spike in cases here... people just can't be bothered to go through what I did and not get a test... What a waste of time. Update - it's now been over 2 hours and I have yet to receive a call regarding an update or if I'll be able to get my test. I came home about 45 min ago and have been waiting for the call so I could head back... But now since it's dinner time and I didn't get to see my family because I work during the day, I can't see how this joke of an establishment is going to get me in for the test I registered for today. If anything, I would calm this place nothing but a Super Spreader business since they have you come in, scan the symbol so you can register and then make you wait for literally hours... How many people like me had to finally leave? How many of those people are walking around with Covid and don't know it? How many of those people have left their Covid germs there for others to just come and get without getting tested? The BBB and the Cambridge Health Department should seriously look into this mistake of a health center.
