Never go here. We have two forms of insurance - COBRA related to an old job and a new insurance plan from a new job. My son came in today for a simple procedure. He was a little confused about the correct insurance number to use - and the first number he gave was incorrect. The receptionist refused to use a corrected number, so he paid out of pocket. I was absolutely shocked by her callous indifference. I wish I had warned him away from AFC Urgent Care in Arlington. I've never had a good experience here, and this experience confirms it. Waited an hour to be seen--even after registering and signing up online. When I asked if they were understaffed, I was told no and that they didn't know what happened. Within hearing of patients, PA reprimanded the Medical Assistant twice within the hour--when he/she could have been seeing patients. My RX was sent to the wrong pharmacy and it took 2 calls to correct this. Finally, someone called from AFC and apologized for the bad experience. I see that they only have 2.5 stars on Yelp. When you make an appointment it doesn't mean anything. They take people as they walk in. Your spot in line doesn't start until you check in. So it's less a medical appointment and more like waiting at the deli counter. How do I know this? I'm here now. Arrived 10 min before my "appointment" to be told it'd be at least 30 minutes. He had an AirPod while talking to me and tried entering the info himself. He said they don't take my insurance, but it's the best there is. They just didn't know how to do it. I waited 30 minutes in the waiting room and have been waiting 60 minutes in the exam room. Yet this place is almost empty. Save your time and cover your bases better - go to the ER. read more

Worst experience I have had, do not go here. They saw my son for an eye infection and were supposed to call in a prescription. Three days later, no prescription and I cannot get ahold of them. The one time I got through on the phone they said "sorry our system is down there is nothing I can do." How about check with a nurse? Maybe make a note for when your system is back up? 12/30 - Finally a comment from owner and call from office manager (Rose) who offered me a partial refund after they acknowledged not sending any results. I was offered $100 for $159 test. The reason you are "overwhelmed" is because you cashed in - took people's money and didn't follow through and now you still want to keep people's money. I was not rude. I was tested at 3PM yesterday (12/20) and have received nothing. I realize it was busy but 24 hours later with no updates is very poor. Moved to 2 stars. If you need test by a certain date/time which I did, this is not the place to go. Also little to no adherence to COVID social distancing guidelines. Same as others-registering ahead doesn't do anything. Got there and lady signed up while I was waiting to sign in. She finished the registration and got in ahead of me. Online system is useless, still first come first serve. Online system makes it sound like it will put me on line when I get there. If that was the case why did the lady that finished her registration get in before me? Have been waiting 40 minutes and only two were taken in ahead of me. Also, following pre-Covid procedures. All sick and well are using the same pens. Masks are at entrance, but most, including staff and those coughing openly, did not wear them. They will never pick up calls, and even if they do they will be rude and keep you on hold for atleast half an hour. This is not urgent care but rather deadly slow non urgent care. Avoid at all costs. I've been struggling with bronchitis for over a week and having been through bronchitis before, I figured a telehealth appointment would work just fine. The receptionist was accommodating and helpful at first, and we scheduled my appointment for 11am over the phone. 11:30am rolled around and they hadn't called me, but I thought, "OK they must be really busy", not being bothered too much since I was at home. 12pm came and I hadn't received a call, so I called the front desk back and was told they were extremely busy, but that someone would call me soon. 1:30pm...I call back again reluctantly (I hate being THAT person) and the receptionist awkwardly answers, "hi......has no one called you yet?" "...no." I was told I'd receive a call soon so I hung up and waited another 30 mins. I ended up using a different telehealth service and after my appointment, I called Arlington back at 2:30pm telling them I no longer needed their services. This was quite possibly the worst urgent care experience I've ever had and I didn't even see anyone. Based on other reviews, it seems like this practice needs to seriously evaluate whether they can accommodate telehealth patients in addition to in-person appointments. I came here yesterday after cutting my finger with an Exacto knife. When I walked in, I was bleeding a lot. The receptionist saw me and said they weren't doing lacerations that day and told me to go somewhere else. How can an urgent care place not take lacerations on a particular day? Ridiculous. I went to PhysicianOne Urgent Care in Waltham where I was seen immediately and got the six stitches I needed. My care in Waltham was fantastic. AFC urgent care in Arlington has been a location that I've visited on multiple occasions over the last 3 1/2 years. Each interaction with their staff has been nothing but a pleasure, and they have always been incredibly thorough in their work with me. Each time I've called, messaged, or shown up in person, they have been incredibly informative and patient, despite regularly having irritable clients in the waiting room (some of which have been quite rude... and are plausibly the individuals who have given 1 or 2-star reviews here). I will never go here again. I waited almost 2hrs. to get to be seen, then probably another 30 min. in exam room. I was under impression could get xray here, but that is only on certain days. That should be stated somewhere as that is main reason I went. Two prescriptions were recommended. I only got one and when called they said there was no record of the second, which I clearly remember. Next time will go to walk in clinic at Mt. Auburn. This review is specifically about Covid testing. We have two experiences to share. In August, I made a "tele-health" appt. several days in advance for 8:00. When I didn't receive a call, I called Urgent Care and was told I was on a call list. Ultimately, I finally got a phone call around 9:30 and was able to test 45 minutes later. The results took 3 days. We recently booked another "tele-health" appt. several days ahead for 9:45. AFC Urgent Care called an hour late and we were then given a 2:00 Covid test appt. time. After waiting in the Urgent Care parking lot for 1.5 hours, they informed us they didn't have any more tests! So after waiting from 9:45 to 3:30, we have nothing! I tried to call Urgent Care and, of course, their mailbox is full and they don't answer the phone. Waste of time! Disrespectful to your clients! Not happy. Trying to do the right thing and we can't. read more

Apparently the online booking has no meaning only at this location. What is even the point if it does not get you a slot inline. I fully understand roughly being accurate and having a 15-30 min variance but telling someone that comes in that its meaningless and that they need to wait for the 15+ people makes it completely useless. I could have waited at home rather than the small room filled with people testing for covid. Do yourself a favor and go to the watertown location (AFC) or Burlington (Partners one) - they seem to use the online booking for some rough order, which is basically the main advantage to using these clinics over any other walk-in/primary care. read more

The receptionist/whoever was at the front desk was EXTREMELY rude and spoke to me like I was an invalid. I was not pushy.... I asked very politely for a rough idea of how long the wait might be because I was on my work break. I'm a teacher and with a room full of sick children, I just wanted to ensure that I wasn't compromised so I attempted to get a COVID test before going to see my family for the holidays. There was a room full of people, and I understand they were busy, but she was rude and short with every single person who approached her for help. Won't be back... We had an awesome experience today, getting the antibody test for covid19. Rose registered us on the phone and helped us navigate all the forms and telemedicine to get the appointment. Then she was able to get us in two days earlier than expected, so we had our tests the same day. Manny prepped us for the visit by taking our vitals. He was kind and helped our nervous son relax. Rose was amazing at the shots... didn't feel a thing. Overall great experience. Would recommend for testing. I will be thinking of these healthcare heroes every day until this is over. Worst place ever. I got COVID from there when I came in for a minor issue. Then, months later, I reserved my spot online. The appointment time kept getting delayed. I showed up 20 minutes before the updated time, only to find out that they had a glitch in the system and should have cancelled my appointment, but didn't. Even though the issue was on their end and I was already waiting for a while, they cancelled my appointment. Never again! read more

The desk/support staff are fine, and reasonably efficient. The online sign up tool was kind of nonsense, since I was there for my reserved appointment time, and still waited another 20min. Then I met the NP. Who was smiley, and cute, and vague. I asked on repeat to have blood tests run, for something I had all the symptoms for, and got responses like "Well we've never asked for those tests from our lab." "You should probably wait another week." Or things that ended with " ...soooooo........", as if I could guess at the end of her sentences. This all adds up to, we don't feel like it, you should be in pain longer, and vapid dismissal. Not really what you want out of a health care situation. I won't ever go back. And honestly, that NP needs more training in honest bedside manner. read more

While I was happy to be seen at 8am on a Sunday, I was disappointed that I never received any follow up communication from this clinic about the testing I had done. When I reached out to them they told me they would contact me the next day but never did and then it was impossible to reach them by phone and their voicemail was full. I registered online and uploaded all required documentation for COVID-test, but when I got there they somehow lost some of the information and needed to ask me for my info again. Their front desk is short-staffed and so 40 minutes later my registration was still not complete. If you don't mind waiting, sure. But I expected a bit more from an urgent care facility. read more

Genuinely the worst experience I have had. I know that this urgent care has been going down hill but yikes! I came in for a UTI and waited almost 2 hours. When I asked what number line I was in I was told 2 and about to be called. I asked to be called on the phone because I literally could not be in that waiting room anymore and one patient had been called in the past 30 minutes, despite 5 patients leaving. The front desk laughed at me, so I stayed. 20 minutes later (longest "you're about to be called" I've ever waited) two people were called in front of me... finally I was called third. I went to go pee in a cup and the box where you put the cup was open on the other side. I was not aware of this until I turned around from washing my hands to pull down my pants, and saw the chest of a person standing on the other side. I felt so violated. During the 30 minutes I was waiting for someone to come back to my room, I heard a woman come in frantically asking if someone could pop her arm back into her socket. They told her no and she was made to leave. I finally was seen by the doctor and after close to THREE hours, I was on my way. read more

I understand our healthcare system is stressed but this place has serious issues. On my most recent trip, there was over an hour wait (fine), but the Dr who saw me did not care at all how I was feeling or how I presented symptoms. Did not even perform an exam. Rushed me out the door and 'hope you feel better soon'. On top of that, the Dr. said they would prescribe someone for my soar throat, but no Rx was sent to my CVS. Tried calling AFC and sat on HOLD FOR OVER 40 MINUTES. I had to drive back down AFC to get the Rx. If you have time to kill and endless follow ups then go but AFC parent company you need to look into this location and make some serious operational changes. read more

The worst possible experience. Tried to get tested for COVID-19 here and had to go back 5 times in 3 days and wait for many hours for what should have been a single, brief visit. First I didn't get my telehealth call when I was supposed to, and if you try to call them, they don't answer the phone and their mailbox is full. After I finally did get my call the next day and was told to come back for the test, I found dozens of people just standing outside waiting, with no apparent movement or progress for a very long time. Someone managing the line was clearly flustered and not cut out for this particular duty, because she kept giving odd and contradictory information. Later, I found out that they double-dipped and both charged my insurance company $180 for a COVID test they didn't actually provide because they ran out of that type (and didn't get more in despite promising me for two days that they would), AND also charged me $259, out of pocket, for the test they did give me and refused to accept my insurance for it. They said, untruthfully, that no insurance would cover the test and refused to submit it. And they refused to give me a receipt. On top of all that, they won't email your results or put them in any type of online portal you can access on your own. You have to go back and physically pick up a paper printout. And, despite promising that the results from that absurdly expensive test would be ready in 4 hours, they weren't ready that night (more than 7 hours later), and I had to rearrange my plans and come back yet again the next morning. When I did finally get the printout, it incorrectly said that I had declined a telehealth visit and was getting tested without a provider recommendation. Absolutely atrocious, all around. Avoid at all costs. I've gotten tests at a bunch of different places in two states, and this is the only one that was so difficult, dishonest, and incompetent. read more

We needed Covid testing. In no particular order. 1. The young people testing us were chasing papers around the parking lot. No one taught them about clip boards? 2. They discarded gloves in a plastic basket next to the new gloves. We watched them test people with nasal swabs and put the old gloves in the basket next to the box of new gloves. 3. We were told they AFC Urgent Care would not have test results, Quest diagnostics would. It would take 11 days --not particularly useful eh? The results were not in for one family member at all. The woman that answered the phone took down information, it never arrived. She was strange on the phone-- a kind of tone of trying to sound serious, older yet botching things as she maintained the strange affect. Ah yes--she was eating a sandwich over the phone when we called or something to that effect. A text that was supposed to arrive for the information she took down never arrived for one of us. I had, out of habit , repeated information to her multiple times anyway but it certainly wasn't in her repertoire. She called us back later to tell us the intake process --use the link provided. It started up a video conference platform. Later she called to tell us not to use the link. I called many times and got another worker who fixed things completely getting health information from us and guess what about 20 minutes later she called again to get our health information. We spent over 6 hours --on the day we requested the test ---calling back and forth with health insurance information, more updates on the sign up process, links that didn't work, emails that didn't arrive, mistranscribed health insurance information. Someone on the staff must be aware of whoever this mysterious but working 9-5 on Fridays and Thursdays person is (working in July) that answered the phone for Watertown and sometimes for Arlington (calls get routed back and forth). Many times she answered the phone with misinformation--this was when we called for results. You only use us she said, not Quest , since we are giving you your health care. I told her that was directly in opposition to the workers who tested us who said the results were ENTIRELY handled by quest. A worker , when we didn't get results , told us to call Quest as well. She became defensive when we corrected her about misinformation we were given. Another review recently references experiences terribly similar to ours and makes me wonder if this same receptionist is that one in their review (likely). I can only speak for the Covid process but I can say that this aspect of the facility was poor (you think) . I can speak to the experience of calling in to them--as mentioned above. I would have their corporate folks call-in with some general questions and just water test a few of their receptionists. Weird , non detailed oriented person trying to sound detail oriented--which is the worst. If you can steer clear do. I don't know , if we had other kinds of medical issues what the care "inside" the building is like --might be good but they should definitely work harder to secure a better front door presence on the phone and tie up loose ends that were administrative and professional and nothing to do with Covid. After struggling with cold/cough/sinus issues for three weeks I decided it was time to seek medical assessment. I love my PCP but he is at least a 30 minute drive away in Brookline and other family members have used AFC Urgent Care Arlington with great satisfaction. Really liked their "check-in online" feature which gave me a visit time within the hour. Got a text message 15 minutes before confirming the visit time was still on track. Front desk staff-person was very friendly and efficient in getting me set up. Was soon called by Sam, the intake person, who did a great job getting my reason for the visit and my med history. Within 10 minutes of his completing that work was seen by the PA who, again, was just great. About 20 minutes later I picked up my antibiotic med a block west of AFC on Mass Ave. Talk about convenient! I will definitely be using AFC whenever I need to see a medical professional for a routine illness. What a friendly, convenient and competent medical professional office to have three minutes from my home in Arlington! read more
