I was so grateful to have Dr. Z come to my apartment to care for my newborn and me. Dr. Z is knowledgeable, kind, and flexible. The model of having the first two months of my child's care from home was so comforting- it allowed me and my baby to stay in the home and rest and heal after delivery. Meg from Tova health handled all the admin stuff. She made scheduling, paperwork, and setting-up the patient portal super simple. When it was time to transition beyond the first two months of care, Dr. Z and Meg helped us find the best pediatrician and make sure they had all our records. Awesome experience! Tova Health is the best!

I experienced a traumatic birth. One of the better things to come out of it (besides my daughter)…read morewas meeting Dr. Z. I was not able to get out of bed for over a week after the birth, so our first meeting was with her sitting at the foot of my bed. Thank goodness we chose her for my daughter's pediatrician because there was no way I would have been able to take her to an office. I really needed the fourth trimester care to help me process the trauma from birth, and Dr. Z let me cry and repeat the story over and over again. I'll never forget the time she hugged me and promised me something good would come out of it. She was also provided excellent care to my daughter. I will never forget our crazy first meeting and her kindness. She listened and provided me care when my own OB/GYN's office failed to do so. It is absolutely ludicrous the postpartum care we receive. This fourth trimester care model should be mandatory everywhere.

I had my entire adult family with this physician as the primary care doctor…read more Visits are brief. Conditions are reviewed with WebMD like computer searches. No treatment for conditions ranging for internal pains, symptoms of arthritis, risk or aortic rupture, or gout were ever recommended. Thousands of dollars in tests were we sent for. No review , feedback, analysis, or recommendations on any of them were ever received. Don't make the mistake of asking an extra question during a visit. You will be billed fully as if it were another appointment. (which your insurance won't cover as they don't understand two sessions with the same doctor on the same day) After 2 years of trying to get any kind of result, we shifted to someone else.

It's a small office, but the receptionist was helpful and friendly. Dr. Mainali himself was very thorough in our first visit, really listening to what we had to say as well as his test results. We felt valued as people, not just as paying customers. He was very helpful when our blood test results came back, in not just telling us the problems, but going through every line of the results (full of acronyms and medical lingo we wouldn't understand on our own) and explaining what everything meant, and why we might care. For many procedures, this small 1-doctor office (he's planning to add a second soon) will have to refer you to others. So, don't expect a hospital-like experience where they can handle everything you could possibly need in the same building. For everything that can be done in-house, though, Everest Healthcare and Dr. Mainali come highly recommended.

While sitting in the waiting room, I overheard the conversation that sealed my decision to leave…read morethis practice. The receptionist was on the phone with a woman who was apparently trying to talk to someone about her abdominal pain. The receptionist was not making things easy. After the discussion ended, she hung up the phone, turned to her coworkers and said (loud enough for everyone in the waiting room to hear): "Abdominal pain? She probably just has her period!" Snickers, all around. Haha, funny. A patient who needs to be seen... but can't. This is a practice with doctors who would likely be competent under other circumstances, but have clearly taken on more patients than they can handle. When I needed an appointment for an urgent medical need, the earliest appointment was the following week. I ended up in the emergency room that night -- and it was not the kind of ER visit where one sits leisurely reading through back issues of People magazine in the waiting room. The wait for routine physicals is 6-9 months. Sick patients must undergo rigorous phone pre-screening by a nurse to justify an appointment. ("Why yes, I have had copious yellow mucous, a 101-degree fever, and a raging headache for a week now. I have taken twice the legal dose of antihistamines for someone my size. May I please, please see a doctor?") If you are sick and do manage to wrangle an appointment, it's just more of the same from a burnt-out, slightly patronizing medical staff once you're in the office. Don't get me wrong -- Dr. Katcher and Dr. Weinman (the only doctors I've seen here) would probably be great under other circumstances. Just not these. The support staff, as illustrated by the conversation I overheard, is at best impatient and at worst rude and indifferent. It's unpleasant enough being sick. It's even more unpleasant when you have to justify your need for medical treatment to an annoyed receptionist. And it's unacceptable when the doctors in the practice allow such attitudes by their support staff to go unchecked -- or exhibit such behavior themselves.

I was referred to this office by another doctor…read more In the past four years I have been "seeing" Dr. Craig, I have only seen her once. Although she is very nice, she, and the office itself, are not accommodating. I had to cancel an appointment due to a work obligation (I'm a teacher) and was told I could not reschedule due to the fact that my doctor was having a baby. I was very happy for her an willing to reschedule a few months later. However, I tried to rebook and I was not allowed to rebook that far in advance. I was told to call back in 6 months. I did. Still they had no idea when she would be returning. I am a teacher so my day begins almost before the sun comes up. Students are in my room before the doctors office opened. They take an hour and a half lunch break which is the same time as my 23 minute lunch break so I couldn't call to set up an appointment then. They stop taking appointments at 4:30. I'm still at school at 4:30 helping students or in faculty meetings. It took me over two weeks of calling to finally get someone on the phone. It was then I found out that she was now only a part time doctor and only taking people in the mornings. I have twice now gone to the CVS minute clinic because I couldn't get a hold of any one to make an appointment to get in for a sinus infection and what I thought might have been strep throat. What is even more annoying is when you do get someone on the phone, they act like it is your fault they can't accommodate you. They become aggravated with me when I can't leave a classroom full of students to go to a doctors appointment. Looks like I'm on the hunt again for a new doctor....

Other doctors certify patients for a full year at the time of the first visit, which is what the law allows. I saw Dr. Uma and she gave me a complete physical, which was fine, but I didn't need one. She talked to me all through it telling me all about how Medical Marijuana works (I already knew quite a bit of this.) What can I say, she was charming. Then she gave me my certification, ( not a hard one, my illness is right in the literature.) But then my certification cancelled after a few months. I went to the pharmacy and was told it was no longer any good. I am not sure what she has to check out after 3 and again after 6 months. The disease will remain and she can't even recommend particular strains, they're not allowed to. So, if the idea of medical Marijuana makes you squeamish, and you need someone classy to make it seem all right, and you can pay extra for this service...be my guest. Otherwise, check out less high overhead operations.
