The initial office visit was pleasant they let me see the facility, it is very nice open, clean, I hate going to appointments but here the crew were always friendly and pleasant. My workouts were never more than I could handle. A very professional group of people that care about your physical health. My problem with ProActive isn't with the therapists; they were great, it's with the billing department. I noticed I'm not the only one who had a problem with their billing department. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield, plus secondary insurance. Long-story-short, I had to pay $608.00 out of my own pocket to avoid being turned in to Medicare's collection agency. I wound up going to a hearing (over the phone) with the federal judge representing Medicare. He said he understood the problem but was confined by federal rules on what he was permitted to do. He said he would send me a letter, stating my case had been ruled 'unfavorable', because of the aforementioned, but would put in the letter that ProActive can't get paid twice from two different entities for the same thing, so I could show it to ProActive. I contacted ProActive, who called me back (2 months later) and confirmed they had been paid twice for the same treatment (I still have the voice mail on my phone). I have called ProActive several times, faxed them the letter from the judge and several other correspondences several times. It has been months. Apparently, they assume if they ignore me, I'll go away. I'm now considering filing a small claims action against them. I'm retired and $608.00 is a lot of money to pay because of their billing foul up and they've already admitted that they got paid twice. read more

I had a good experience with the therapists here. My problem was with the Billing Department, which is through Foothills Physical Therapy. I was sent to this physical therapist by my ent doc, due to vertigo. My insurance did cover the Epley maneuvers I received, as well as the initial workup. However, several items of care I received were not covered by my insurance under the vertigo diagnosis code. When they first denied those portions, the Foothills billing department sent the claims again, USING THE EXACT SAME DIAGNOSIS CODE that had been denied. I talked to my insurance company, they told me what type of diagnosis code would work to cover the additional therapy I received. Foothills REFUSED TO TRY AND RESUBMIT THE CLAIM using an appropriate diagnosis code. I have now gone ahead and paid the rest of the bill, as it has dragged on for 6 months, with the customer service rep telling me a case had been opened to review, and that someone would notify me of the results. No one ever called to discuss it with me, I just got a call saying I still owed the money. I would say that you might want to check with insurance for any procedures they want to carry out, to see if it will actually be covered. ***I received an email from the owners after this review was posted. I went to Proactive on East Broadway, Tucson. I am so impressed with the staff and front desk. They pinpointed what I needed to fully function and really worked at helping me. I had 2.5 years of muscle and foot pain due to statins. Wasn't walking well and lost muscle tone and balance. They guided me on how to get my strength and balance back. I finished today after 2 months and they sent me home with exercises to help me continue to improve. Nice, friendly and knowledgeable staff. I recommend this business to anyone old or young. I am an older woman so often dismissed in medical settings. Not here as all were kind and made me work hard. Great place to heal! read more

After multiple frustrations with the PT department of a major Tucson medical facility (never answering phone, no call backs) I called ProActive on Broadway at the recommendation of a friend. The phone was answered immediately, appointments were made for my 6 weeks of therapy, all in a pleasant and professional manner. My therapist was Brent and my therapy assistant was Kayla. Both of these medical professionals provided me with therapy in a professional, friendly manner. The facility is located in a large strip mall with excellent parking. Don't know how to bill insurance correctly and they won't admit wrongdoing even when you show them proof. Then to get reimbursed takes repeated phone calls to the billing office and maybe in 2 months you'll get a check. The therapist I saw was good but I won't go back. read more

Best group of therapists in town!!! From the moment you walk in the door, you feel like part of a family. Jolene is amazing as was able to explain my insurance as well as the reason for my intake paperwork. The clinic also works with your deductible so you don't get stuck with a lump sum bill at the end. My initial visit was above and beyond what I expected. My therapist (Brian) not only did thorough examination (more than I had experienced at other PT clinics), they explained what was going on with my back pain, they explained pain in a context that made complete sense, and then they explained that my condition is common and some people are walking around with similar disc injuries without even knowing it. This gave me extreme hope and promise with my treatment and the care continued throughout my time with ProActive. My treatments typically consisted of a 1/2 hour directly with my therapist and then another 15-30 minutes with an assigned exercise specialist. I always knew what to expect and who I would be working with. Prior experiences with other PT clinics would have be being thrown around between PTs, PTAs, and techs. I never knew who I would be working with. It was encouraging to have consistency from visit to visit as I felt the therapist and exercise specialist were able to see my progress from day to day and know how to properly progress my care. The clinic itself is very nice, clean, and open. However, if you need a private treatment room, there are 3 available if you prefer to be in a private room. I decided to try this because it was so close to home. I am very disappointed, You see the PT once a week, he massaged my knee for 15 minutes. Then the exercise technicians come and sit -tell you to do certain exercises for15- 20 min., They seem completely disinterested. Then you get a tens unit and ice for about 10 minutes...The second time in the week, you get this again, except with the PT assistant-all for over $100.The only positive thing I can say is that most people are very pleasant. read more

I was referred by my physician for chronic low back pain and lumbar vertebrae injury. I was seen quickly, evaluated thoroughly, and from almost the first session, felt I could detect a difference.
