The guys here at ProZone are awesome! They really took care of us and created some beautiful balls. From start to finish, they really know their stuff. This was my 1st bowling ball, and was clueless on what to do. They walked me through it all step by step from grip, to measuring hand span, fitting finger holes it was actually interesting. I was a bit intimidated being a 1st timer, but the service is so friendly and comforting they get you excited about getting your ball! They even offer advice for grip, holding and spinning the ball, they are a wealth of knowledge. PROCESS: You walk up to the counter Get your measurements Pick your weight Pick your color and price range and you are on your way! I was SHOCKED at how affordable our balls were, completely shooketh because i was expecting a few hundred dollars. A few days later, your ball is ready, you pick it up and pay and do a final fitting and they send you home with your new ball baby. They also offer a free bowling game voucher which is awesome! Having your own ball is such a great investment, not only fiscally, but also hygenically and you really get to learn on the same ball everytime you play, which will improve your game. Just recently came back into the bowling scene after a 20+ year break. Bowled competitively as a junior all around CA and occasionally vegas. I had been to Rustys and Karls shop before when Mission Hills bowl was around and they still remembered me. They are extremely knowledgeable and will steer you in the RIGHT direction. They are not there to sell you. They are there to help you and guide you which I appreciate very much. I came in with some ideas and they had me pump the brakes and take a breath. I've drilled 2 balls thus far with their recommendations and it's been great. I am glad they are still around. Good PSO's are hard to come by and these guys are great. read more

Rusty, the owner of "The Pro Zone", and his assistant, Carl, have a nice set up in one of the rooms in Winnetka Bowl. You can get bowling balls & have them custom fitted to your grip and finger size along with all sorts of accoutrements that befit a bowler such as gloves, airport luggage on wheels like bowling ball carriers, bowling shoes, etc. I had an old bowling ball that I hadn't used in over two decades, and as time marches on, I found out that my thumb & fingers no long fit the old holes. So I took it to Carl, who used a bowling ball with holes of various standardized sizes to find out how large were my fingers & how much more to bore the old holes. All this was done in about 10 minutes and another 10 minutes to actually drill bigger holes. I not only saved about $100 to buy a new ball, but Rusty & Carl only charged me $5 saying that they were happy to see me get back to becoming a regular bowler. What a deal! They are some really swell guys. Of course, I paid Carl $10 for his professional services. Unfortunately, Mission Hills Bowl will close at the end of May 2015, and that "The Pro Zone" has moved to Winnetka Bowl. Our bowling group is also switching over to Winnetka Bowl so it will be very convenient to avail myself of their services if ever I need anything to do with bowling. Rusty always takes care of us, my son bowls in the Junior Royals youth league at Winnetka and we always buy our gear from the Pro Zone. As my son has grown he has needed his finger holes adjusted, Rusty and Carl have always been accommodating to make sure he has the right fit and whatever we need. Rusty has a ton of knowledge and has helped us with ball recommendations, proper finger placement, etc. Once during a Tournament, one of my sons finger plugs came out of his ball and we thought he may not be able to continue using his own ball, but Rusty was able to repair the plug on the spot and he was able to finish the Tournament, Thank you. These gents are wonderful! They were so helpful in getting my all geared up to be a regular player. I got a right and left hand ball from them and they did the hole drilling. It was really great to finally get my own gear but it was so nice to be able to trust in the experience and knowledge of Carl who helped me first, and Rusty who charmed me later. Lol. I'm very happy with their service and I'm very appreciative that they are so welcoming of questions. I know you can get gear online for cheaper (maybe) but the prices are almost the same for what I needed and I'd much rather support this shop and all the value it brings. Some things just matter more than convenience and getting it for cheap. These guys are great, they're in a great alley and I'll keep supporting them. They're worth it! read more

I'm so happy I came here for my new ball (and my wife's first) - Carl and Rusty are two stand-up guys and really strive to make sure you are getting the best service. A little backstory: I got my first ball about 18 years ago from a great pro shop in Ventura (where I grew up) but that place has been closed down for many years now. My ball was perfectly drilled and I averaged in the upper hundreds, then a few years later I moved to LA ... that ball got stolen from my car literally within 72 hours of moving here (I blame it on Hollywood). It took a while for me to save up and get a new ball, but I did and the pro-shop where I got that one drilled did not really care much to give me the perfect fit. Flash foward to this year - I'm finally to the point where I'm fed up with my current ball, so I took it to Carl and Rusty. They concurred that the thumb hole was too big, the fingers were too far from the thumb, and it wasn't even the right type of ball for the heavy oil lanes where i frequent. Taking that into consideration, I just decided I wanted to get a new ball and since my wife has been bowling with me every week, we decided to get her her first ball as well. They took great care of us and even fine tuned our balls during our first game using them. I highly suggest taking your current ball or getting new gear from Rusty and Carl at Pro Zone. read more

I recently came into Pro Zone to visit Rusty and Karl for a drilling of my new Brunswick Rhino bowling ball. Every time I ever need any fine tuning to my fit, they are both very helpful and professional. I learned not to grip my bowling ball so hard with Rusty's "tube test." I didn't want to pull his thumb off, but I learned that I didn't have to if you straighten out your thumb upon release. I'll be going to these guys for a long time. Thanks! read more

I went in here yesterday and I was immediately acknowledged by the owner Rusty and as soon as he was done with the customer in front of me, I explained what I needed and he provided me with great service. I was able to get a ball(with my name engraved free), shoes, and a bag. He took the time to make sure that the holes were right and even explained the correct way to use the ball. First off, I am the farthest from being a professional bowler. I recently joined a bowling league and knew I needed a ball, so instead of trying online I went in and met Rusty and Carl. These are the two NICEST guys you could ever meet. I picked out a ball from one of their catalogs and today came back to have them drill the holes. Rusty is such a class act. If you need a custom ball drilled, any bowling supplies, and someone you can trust to take care of you and your bowling needs, you can put your faith in them. I am very happy with these guys. Rusty and Carl fixed a problem I had with a ball,I bought and had drilled elsewhere. They welcomed me in to consult, recommend simple changes, and do them. They moved my thumb hole forward by maybe 3/8" of an inch. They used the rubber inserts. Shaped them to me and custom fit my problems, completely. I'm thrilled and am bowling much better. I then bought a deferent ball from them too, that they set up, and I am thrilled with it too. It is for dryer conditions. Next, I'll get a ball for spare shooting. These guys were super helpful. I just got a new ball off amazon and it needed holes to be drilled in. At other pro shops it was a hassle because the guy was never there or they needed to schedule it in advance. At Pro Zone as soon as I came in they were ready to start working on my bowling ball. It was my first time so Rusty and Carl were really helpful in every way. They even taught me how to properly hold the ball for most comfort. If you just got a bowling ball with no holes from amazon come over here you'll get all the help you need! My game has improved by about 50 points since coming here so thank you!!! read more
