First, everyone working here was very nice. The tech who did my nails was excellent and conscientious--she never hurt me or filed off the tender skin above my nails. They use actual glitter instead of glitter polish which I've never seen before. I really like the effect of it, but I hate that it's all over everything--not just my hands and feet, but much of the salon. So, my biggest issue was the cleanliness of the salon. There was dust weeks thick, the edges and corners of the floor were pretty disgusting. It's one of those situations where, if I were to go back, I'd need to weigh out the good and the not so good. Thanks to Linda for fixing my nails and giving me a fill and color change! She brought them back to life, I had a crooked nail from the place before I had went too but she fixed that right up for me. Got my bubbles out and shaped my nail the right way. I really recommend her and her salon. They were under staffed that day but she explained to me why and I understood that. Went here on a whim 2 weeks ago got a mani/pedi both gel. The pedicure was painful both gel polish still in tact. The manicure was awful after 5 days gel was peeling and in my right thumb nail has a fungus infection and its painful. I paid 80 for this to expensive not counting the $ for infection drops I had to buy read more

I have been going to this place for years and i love it, they do a great job. i get complimented every time i get my nails done!..I Highly recommend this place! I had been a long standing customer at Pro-top nail until I had a problem with the gel nail chipping & peeling off in just one week and Linda the owner would not stand behind the work and charged me full price for a re-do on my nails after just one week. I was very willing to meet her half way and at least get a discount, but Linda would not even look at me. ( I had called before I came in and again when I arrived about the peeling nails and was given the cold shoulder) For me Customer Service is extremely poor if you are not willing to stand behind your work....! read more

Normally when a nail falls off they won't charge but the man at the counter said since it looked like I took it off that I had to pay. He didn't believe me. To top it off the wrong shade of red was put on my nail. Do not recommend this place. read more

I came here because the reviews were okay compared to all the mediocre nail salons here in Salinas. I went it not having high expectations due to my experiences at other places. The girl that did my gel mani did a really great job. I didn't catch her name but I was pleased with my mani. What prompted me to give them two stars is my lip wax. The girl that did my mani was not the same that did my wax. The lady that did my wax was older. Anyway, I asked for a lip wax and they almost forgot about me until they finally asked me to go to the little waxing room. It was going great until she waxed the same place twice. I didn't think much of it because after a wax you are usually pretty sensitive. This time was different, my lip was burning. They should be more cautious in how many times they wax a certain area. I have been getting lip waxed for YEARS and this has never happened in any of my experiences. I am now pretty upset as my lip hurts and it will now leave a scar. read more

First time going I waited 45 minutes and the wait was going to continue so I kindly booked an appointment for the following morning. I showed up and still had to wait 8 minutes for another manicurist to show up because it was only the owner with a client there. I showed them a design I wanted and she said the man could do it so I sat down. I like how thin he did the nails but when it came to the design it was a disaster. I had a Minnie Mouse head silhouette with a pink bow and all he did was a bow. I told him I wanted the black in the picture as well (the head shape) and he just smiled and walked away. I didn't want to seem like a brat so I just stayed with the bow. Within two minutes he told me my drying was done and had me stand up to pay for they had a long wait of clients by now. I payed and as soon as I got to my car I saw the bow had smeared. I went I and instead of redoing it he just smudged off a little of the smear and had me dry for a longer time. Within a week my index finger nail fell off and the rest were chipping from the edges. Definitely won't go again. I just went to this place to get a new set and gel pedicure. The man doing my nails did a great job and really took time on them however he gave me a little attitude towards the end so no tip. The lady who was doing my toes was super nice and easy to talk to. Although they do nice nails they are quite expensive and charge for everything. overall a good place. read more

This is the ONLY nail salon I've been to that overcharges for things like nail shape! Extra $ for oval shape. Got completely ripped off paid $45 for french tip just for the shape. Wish I knew this before. read more

Horrible customer service!!!!! I don't EVER complain about this sort of thing but the male technician that gave me a pedi didn't do a great job and they were so busy trying to sell me on gel nails for my toes that he didn't do the job that he shouldve on the pedi to begin with. So not even a day and a half later my nail polish started smearing and coming off as if it didn't dry right. I go into the shop thinking that they would change my color for free because they didn't do a great job to begin with....and no they sure didn't!!!!! So I will NEVER go back to this shop. I would rather receive real customer service and be treated as a paying patron of your establishment then be treated as if they are doing me a favor for coming in to begin with. That $8 color change for free would've went a long way! So if you are looking for a nice place with customer service....dont go to this nail shop!!!! Came in to get a manicure, it was busy as always, I was the only one waiting but they took forever to attend me. They started off by soaking off my acrylics in acetone, took an hour to soak off (now that I know how I would rather soak my nails off at home instead of being charge $10 at a salon) after the soaking Linda began to do my manicure she shaped some of my nails nicely, it kind of made me mad because I asked her if she can file my nails down a little more since I didn't want to break them, and all she did was file one down and leave the rest still long...... you can tell she was in a hurry because as soon as I sat down for my manicure she had like 10 customers arrive, it is still not a reason to be sloppy.... she didn't even thank me when I left she was too busy trying to get her other customers worked on that she didn't even acknowledge me anymore. Went here on a wimm I had training here in Salinas I usually go to San Jose to get my nails done but I looked up nail salons in the area and they came up. It caught my eye because from customer pictures it looks like they cater to women with long nails. I myself have long nails and am very picky so I took a chance and came here. The nail tech who did my nails did an excellent job did exactly what I asked and was very meticulous. They don't have a huge selection of shellac but I'm satisfied with the color I chose. They really tried to push me to get shellac on my toes because I only had shoes with me but they do have throw away flip flops thank god. But I still went with just regular nail polish on my toes because the shellac pedicure is $35, kinda pricey for me so I passed. In all I would definitely come here again the inside is nice not immaculate but nice and the service they provide is great it was great find! read more

Owner Linda is really nice and tries very hard to please her customers. However after going here for about a year, I just found that the work was a little bit inconsistent, they kept trying to sell me on gel when I prefer polish so I can change it easily myself in a week or so when I get tired of the color, or want to do my own design or Also, they stay just slightly away from the cuticle, and same with the color so in 2 or 3 days, my nails already looked like they had been grown out for a week. I normally go every 3 wks but felt like if I didn't keep coming every two weeks that they were being shortchanged, and I'm the customer. I work lots of hours and can't always get there more often like a lot of other people. I work weekdays but lots of overtime due to short staffing in my office so essential that when I go, I can relax and get my money's worth. Not terrible work - the acrylic doesn't lift, and rarely ever got nicked but Linda is the most reliable, and it's hard because she also answers the phone, and greets people as the arrive so sometime the focus isn't on whoever is in her chair. I tried a couple other techs there but only one was really good, and Linda let her go shortly afterward over -I was told - customer service but that gal's work was better than Linda's so maybe jealousy? Anyway, I decide to find a shop closer to my office but in a pinch I would go back with one exception - no one here does decent pedicures. read more

Came here after reading Yelp recommendations. Linda did my nails - acrylic and gel polish - and did a great job!! No nicked cuticles which is always nice when trying a new place. Then a different lady did the pedicure and did fine. She had me smell a scrub and I commented it smelled good. She applied it. Then when it was time for polishing my toes, she showed me a sample of the glitter nails and I commented nice, but said maybe another time. Apparently, by saying "nice" I got it anyway. Not thrilled, but not horrified, so I left it. Imagine my surprise when I was presented with a charge of $20.00 over the price of the listed pedicure!!! When I mentioned I hadn't asked for the glitter, but she had applied it anyway, the attitude of the owner was, "Oh well." No offer to reduce the bill or take it off. read more

This a small, clean little place. Ive gone quite a few times and Katy does a 5 star job on my nails EVERY single time! She always knows and understands exactly what I want. However, I give this place 3 stars because they are seriously understaffed. I cant ever go here for a pedi without a huge wait time!! I think they will loose alot of business if they continue to be so slow and its sad because this salon has alot of potential! read more

I came here for the first time today. Everything was above par! Jacklyn did a wonderful job on my nails, I always ask places to make them thin and they never really are, but this time they are so thin and look so natural! Owners are very friendly and take a lot of care and pride in their business and customers. My mother in law and I usually go together to a different salon, but I am going to bring her here next time. VERY RUDE!!! First time I came and got my nails done they did a great job, came back a second time and a week after getting them done 3 of my real nails ripped off and caused really bad pain. I came back to show them how broken my nails where an the man acted like he didn't remember me and laughed in my face an made a mean joke an didn't do anything about it. I've come to this place on and off for years .. They are expensive they do good work but the last time I went the lady that did my nails put some type of liquid on my nails right before they put the acrylic powder .. It burned so bad it made it worse with she filed I kept telling her this has never had to me before she said you must be sensitive Linda the owner was aware but did not offer to help.. Sad Linda doesn't do the quality she used too! I was a regular with Linda for quite a while.. over 8 years ago I got a basic manicure and was happy, however I found another nail lady which had better pricing and was able to do everything I wanted! Unfortunately I wasn't able to continue going to her because it became hard schedule with her so I tried pro top again! I was first seated with jacklyn and she couldn't get a square shape even when I tried telling her I didn't want coffin so Linda helped and I was very happy. From there on for about the next year I always went to Linda, however the last few times I went in her quality of work was diminishing! She wasn't able to do what I wanted and wouldn't just tell me straight up. The very last time I went in Linda was so worried about a walk in client that she wasn't looking at my hands while working on them and she cut my finger making me bleed. Mind you I always made appointments and tipped well over what was called for! The bleeding was forgivable but less than a week later my nails were chipping on the sides and corners. So I had them soaked off at another salon where they informed me that my nails had turned yellow because of the CHEAP acrylic. I definitely paid more than I should have for cheap acrylic! read more

best place to get your nails done in salinas..hands down. everyone is so nice and do a wonderful job but i always have tony do my nails..he is a perfectionist and i am always so happy with how he makes my nails look. linda and staff are so sweet and don't act all weird. just because they are speaking another language does not mean they are talking about you..i really hate those assumptions. get over it, ladies..the world does not revolve around you. anyways, 5 stars all the way! read more

horrible experience I use to go here all the time until today when I received bad service from the owner and her employee.first of all i understand you have to help others as well but not at the expense of your first customer. I was left without anyone helping me for over 20 min just sitting in the chair while the girl helping me went to help someone else and when talked to owner she just made an excuse and was rude about it infront of another customer while she waxed her. how bad of a customer experience. to discuss an issue infront of another customer who you are waxing. I felt like i was not important nor did she make me feel as important as her other customers. I also asked about how much it was and she had the nerve to tell me she would have to over charge me because she does not take debit under a certain amount. Hell no Im not going to pay for something I did not get. One star is more than they deserve from a previous customer. Never Again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
