I made an appointment for an oil change, tire rotation, to have the brakes checked because they were squeaking, and I also told them I figured the car was due for some other maintenance. I don't drive it much and that has led me to lose track of maintenance a bit. Within 2 hours of dropping it off I received a phone call that my car looked great and there was nothing more they could sell me beside the oil change and tire rotation. They explained why my brakes were squeaking, and that it was not a safety issue and not something worth investing money in right now. They told me I have enough tread on my tires for another 20K miles. I couldn't be more pleased! My dad was a notoriously hard customer. As in, he was banned from multiple establishments for being a hardass. When I moved back to Jacksonville with my own family's aged Nissans, I was desperate to find a good place to take the cars for the 12+ year fixes that were needed. When my mom mentioned my dad had taken his car here AND had no complaints I was absolutely sold. Lance did not let me down! He's friendly, to the point, and honest. He will let you know exactly what is wrong and what it will take to fix it without any upsells or doom and gloom. It can take a week to get in for a non-emergency, but once you are in the car is turned around usually in 24 hours. I just had my A/C bite the dust (yes, in August, in Florida) but Lance had the part ordered from Nissan and in the car in a day and now the A/C blasts colder than I have ever felt it. Pro-Tech is absolutely wonderful! We've been bringing our old vehicles there for a few years now. They are so nice and they have never treated me like some girl who won't understand and I've never felt like they were holding back information. They always fix what's wrong but they go beyond that too. After I started taking our cars there I found out that more than a few friends and family members also swear by the place. One of them does the repairs on his truck himself but when he's out of town he sends his wife there with her SUV. Our vehicles are old. Other places will go through with their checklists and seem to be trying to find everything they can possibly sell us. Pro-Tech will find other things wrong while doing a repair and let me know what's wrong and give me the honest facts about it rather than a sales pitch. I have actually taken one of our vehicles to another place since I started using Pro-Tech. But the problem just came back a week later and when I took it to Pro-Tech they fixed the entire problem for me. There were multiple things contributing to the problem and they fixed them and it didn't cost me an enormous amount of money. I really just can't say enough good things about them. Yeah, they're not open on the weekends. But I've learned that's not a good enough reason to go somewhere else. It's worth it to go out of our way so Pro-Tech can fix the vehicles and we aren't stuck without a vehicle again a week later. And, with as good a job as they do, they deserve weekends off. read more

After years of getting ripped off at my dealership, Pro-tech was recommended to me by a friend. After having work done at the Cadillac dealership, I sent Lantz an email asking him if he would give me a quote for the same repairs that were done to my car. Even though he knew the work had been done he took the time to give me a written estimate and it was approximately $600 less than what the dealership charged me. When my car died on me this week, as soon as I got it jumped I drove straight to Pro-Tech. They determined it was just the battery and called and gave me the quote before replacing it. While my car was there they noticed the tires needed rotating and did it for free! I was shocked that they needed rotating because every time I took my car to the dealership to have the oil changed I also asked for the tires to be rotated. I can't say enough about how comforting it is as a woman to have a repair shop that will not rip you off and that charges a fair price. I was quoted by Lance $415 (parts & labor) to replace alternator for 2007 Toyota Camry SE 4 cylinder. I was told the alternator would cost $250. I questioned him about the price and was told the alternator's that I found online from local auto parts stores were rebuilt and not re-manufactured. Since they use Napa auto parts, I looked up the part on their website and was surprised to the part listed at $179. When my car was ready, I asked Lance about the part number and price of the alternator. He told me that the part was $284. He gave me a speech about his insurance and employee costs. Then he called Napa and they told him the part was $179 as well. I ended up paying $304. He told me that the part was "listed" incorrectly by Napa in the system. Labor is also $95 an hour which is $22 an hour more than the Toyota dealership. If you like paying more than you should then by all means go there. read more
