I called Shirlen to book my appointment two days before I intended on coming in. She was pleasant to speak to on the phone. On the day of my appointment, Shirlen called stating apologetically that she was caught up in traffic. We pushed the appointment forward about half an hour. I appreciated that she notified me so that I wasn't their waiting for her. I also appreciated how apologetic she was for being late. The salon is slightly hidden in a shopping complex but Shirlen helped me find my way. I entered a small, clean, salon. It was just the two of us. The salon is by appointment only. I didn't feel like dealing with the bustle of people so an empty salon was fine with me. Shirlen had her own room in the back where she does her waxing. The room was clean and larger than most waxing rooms I've been in. I liked it. Shirlen asked me to get prepared and politely left the room while I did. The waxing experience with Shirlen was amazing. She is gentle, extremely meticulous and obviously loves her work. She not only completed a great Brazilian but extended her waxing to include all areas she could see within the vicinity and took care of ingrown hairs. Her work was perfect. Shirlen's friendly demeanor made what can be an uncomfortable experience, enjoyable and even relaxing. The two of us were in conversation for the entire duration of the appointment. I highly recommend Shirlen to anyone who indulges in Brazilians including and especially first-timers who are nervous about this grooming practice. Pixie Nail Bar has honestly become my go to spot in Hampton Va whenever I want to get my nails…read moredone. The nail techs are really talented and confident in their work, which makes sense because they always seem busy. One thing I've noticed though is that when it gets busy, they can work a little too fast which leads to over filing or being a bit rough on thinner nails and cuticles. I've found that speaking up and asking them to go gently usually helps, and going during less busy times makes the experience even better. My partner and I especially love going there for pedicures because it feels super relaxing, and they offer drinks while you're getting serviced which is a nice touch. Overall, everyone is accommodating and good at what they do despite occasional small misunderstandings. I personally enjoy the pedicure experience the most there, but for manicures I just make sure to over communicate what works best for my nails. In terms of design I have always gotten what I had in mind, which is why I go back.

The foundation of my nail was extremely bad and before I let him put on the color I wanted I noticed he did not build no type of apex on my nail leaving the bottom of my thick and top of nail thin and I told him that, he said that's how it supposed to look for the length I requested. I said no it is not and that looks weird. As a licensed nail technician I know we learned how to build an apex. I stopped the service because he started to get an attitude because he knew he was wrong. For the other nail technician like Amy and Leo I recommend you see them but not that male who sits directly when you come in.

Call to set up an appointment and when you arrive you have to knock first before you can open the door, its locked at all times. I dont mind this cause at least it's safe ‍ I didn't catch the name of the lady that did my brows but I think she was the owner, there was no one else there when I arrived and it wasnt lit very well. But over all I think the interior was beautifully decorated and very peaceful! The chairs that you "sit" in recline all the way back, which is so nice because I'm tall and I've always had to uncomfortably crunch myself down. They also sell some products like lash and brow serum and witch hazel. So my eyebrows are actually pretty full and naturally have a nice arch but because they're so blonde it's hard to tell. I came here because the last place I went to waxed my brows first THEN dyed them ‍ so needless to say too much was waxed off. The lady here did a phenomenal job at threading! She was quite but polite and did a thorough job! I've had my brows threaded before and it was good but this place is better now that I'm home and very carefully looked over my brows I dont feel the need to pluck anything which almost never happens! This is now going to be my only place that I will go to! She left them full and left my natural arch, but just beautifully cleaned them up!!
