I swear Dean is the most patient (no pressure) sales guy I've ever met. Yo say he is thorough is an understatement. He carefully looks at all information available from the types of systems to the pros and cons of each and tailors them to the individual's requirements. The best part is he doesn't oversell you on things you don't need. In my case I wanted a system to eventually be ready for an electric car. Dean wisely advised not to buy the extra pieces now when they would be of no value to me, but ensured my system would be ready for upgrades when I was ready. Since our initial install we have upgraded our system on 3 occasions, each time carefully planned out to maximize the value of the equipment and to get the best bang for the buck. In short if I could give 10 stars I would. If you are interested in learning about solar give them a call. You won't be sorry.

His approach required a small modification that no other vendor had ever mentioned, and it made a meaningful difference in system capacity. Design Phase: Ish and his team were incredibly flexible in accommodating my specific preferences for how the panels should be grouped and connected to each Tesla Powerwall 3. We held several conference calls with their technician and architect to review and validate the design, and they were consistently willing to collaborate and adjust based on my input. Installation Experience: The installation itself was much quicker than I expected. The longest part of the process was simply waiting for the Tesla Powerwall 3 units which was a Tesla supply delay, not theirs. Rebate Assistance: They also helped me secure a rebate that I wasn't even aware of, which was a great added bonus. Overall: Ish and his crew went above and beyond. I originally had a positive experience with California Solar Electric during my 10.12 kW solar and Powerwall 3 installation last year. Unfortunately, their post-install customer support and business ethics are nonexistent. I referred a friend who completed their installation months ago. I was explicitly promised a $500 referral bonus for this. After months of waiting, I tried following up multiple times privately to give them a chance to make it right, but I am now being completely ignored. It's a shame because I have several neighbors here in Fountain Valley who are currently shopping around for solar and battery storage. I was planning to refer them here, but I cannot recommend a company that fails to honor its own written agreements and ducks communication. Buyer beware: the installation team does good work, but do not trust a word management says about referral incentives or post-sale promises. Still waiting for my $500.

Then, Tesla recalled the Powerwall-2 batteries because of a fire risk. While it took a while to get going, Photon came yesterday and completed the battery replacement, just as thorough and professional as with the initial project. One of the selling points was that we would be able to receive a rebate from Central Coast Community Energy (3CE) upon completion of the project. Photon Brothers told us that they would help us with the rebate and application process. Although they did help with the application process, they failed to explain many of the requirements needed to obtain the rebate. For instance, we were never told that we had to program our battery to discharge at least 50% of its capacity daily during peak hours for a two-week period while 3CE would monitor the battery system. Upon completion of the application it stalled, because we did not know about this requirement. At least half a dozen phone calls were made to 3CE to try and figure why we were not getting our rebate. It took us over a year to figure this out, with NO HELP from Photon Brothers. Their response was something akin to, "This is between you and 3CE." A simple explanation would have relieved us of much aggravation. We finally received our rebate in March of 2026, well over a year from when we first applied. In addition, we never received instructions from Photon Brothers on how to use the Tessla App to maximum the benefits of the battery system. When we would call Photon Brothers for help with the App, sometimes we received assistance, while other times, no one called us back. We watched the Tessla Battery videos and did not find them helpful. In conclusion, we are disappointed with the lack of support received from Photon Brothers.

She offered a free panel cleaning, which she set up internally and had their team come out this past Friday without issue. Since the cleaning the panels have been much better performing especially after these past few weeks of misting and rain, about 25% higher output. I didn't think much of it but I get now it's worth doing to get the most out of the panels. Overall a very good response and experience with OC specifically for this issue. I feel that they do want to stand out from the crowd and responding proactively to feedback gives me more confidence they'll take care of issues as they hear about them.

I got an estimate from them and went ahead with the install. This morning the installer, Jessie, showed up at my home (he was early, which was good). After explaining the installation process, as well as my new charger's features, Jessie went right to work. The whole install process did not take very long. Walter walked me through how the charger works (pretty simple) including the WiFi connection. After he finished Jessie made sure that the area was clean and that all installation debris was picked up. I am somewhat disappointed that my chosen installation location (inside the garage) could not be used. But Walter showed me how inside the garage would have been a very tight fit. So overall I am OK with the set-up. Next month the Photon Brothers will come to install the Tesla Powerwall to go with my solar panels. I expect that everything will go smoothly!
