Things started off fine - The elder Shea in this family business arrived on time to assess and…read moreoffer an estimate on fixing a front door needing either full realignment or replacement. There was a secondary job of replacing a small outdoor shower enclosure. The discussion about the door was thorough with replacement - something which normally comes in around $1000 - $1500 (door & labor) - suggested as the best choice. For the shower, I was given some suggestions for a larger, nicer enclosure. I did agree to get an estimate for that as long as I also got one for a simple replacement of the smaller walls and the shower head. That meeting left me feeling pretty confident in this company. After a couple of weeks I had to call to see if an estimate would be coming soon. They apologized for the delay and sent me the estimate later that day. $9000 for an amazing sounding, spa-like outdoor shower. No estimate for a straightforward replacement however And more importantly, no door estimate. When the mistake was brought to their attention, they did apologize. Then sent me the same estimate again. Last night I received a new email - not an estimate for the door but an invoice for it. No estimate or description of what would be done. Just a bill of almost $4000 for a door and work which didn't actually exist yet. Something had been vastly confused in the shower, but I'm puzzled that after that I'd still receive a stunning bill for a non-existent door One which I imagine would be incredibly epic on the little beach cottage it would end up on.

The morning of the project start you meet the project manager (in my case Jeff R) and discuss anything that concerns you. Crew arrives, dumpster and material get delivered. I came home for lunch and it appeared a bomb went off (in a good way), entire perimeter of the house was covered in tarps and anything fragile was covered to protect, the main house was striped and shingled except for the front portico. My shed was stripped and was going to be complete after lunch. I came home from work and everything was picked up and put back in place. There were a few perennials that were damaged (no problem they will grow back), bear in mind landscaping was covered with a tarp, ladders and bundles of shingles are heavy. The crew uses a large pull behind magnet to pick up nails, all we found was 1 nail = great job. My wife and I could not be happier and can't wait for the rest of the work to be done. I would highly recommend Marshall B&R!

I cannot rave enough about Ben and Busy Bee!!! He literally saved me tens of thousands of dollars…read morewhen he redid my roof just a few weeks ago. I bought my tiny, 1200 sq ft vintage 120 year old house about 2 years ago and knew when I bought it, we knew that the roof was in desperate need of a complete tear off and re-roof. As soon as I bought the house, I started seeking roof companies to come out and give me estimates. The estimates I received were all over the place, a few companies quoted me $50,000, one quoted me $24,000, one was $13,000 (but included a lien on my home), and 4 companies were an utter waste of time and never even got back to me. When I contacted Ben, I immediately knew I was in good hands, his demeanor is open, friendly, trustworthy, and honest. Not only did he quote me a mere fraction of what the other people did, he was quick to give me a bid, and to respond, fast to get started, fast to get a permit, and not AT ALL afraid to do the roof one bit like all the other companies seemed to be. He is extremely calm, friendly and knowledgeable, with over 40 years of roofing experience, with extensive framing and contractor knowledge as well, so he knew exactly what to do, and how a roof is supposed to look from the framing end, all the correct materials to order to make my roof look beautiful and last 30 years, and I felt completely secure and in very good hands with no fear of him trying to take advantage of me like I felt with the other companies. I was told by so many other roofers that I would need to pay them in addition to the new roof costs, an upwards of $20,000 ++ to rebuild all the eaves and framing, but once Ben got all the layers off, he was able to assess from his experience looking at roofs for 40+ years, that my beams and wood quality was absolutely fine, and the engineering was safe and perfect and that those other people were most likely just trying to take my money. He replaced all the termite and water damaged plywood for a low cost and redid the fascia trim for me with a beautiful redwood! I didn't have to hire an engineer or a general contractor, it saved me countless thousands. Ben also wasn't afraid to do the roof in the bad weather. He knew what to do to protect my house so it stayed dry during the storm by doing it in sections, and working diligently and very clean the entire time. He was respectful of noise in the early morning and keeping my yard safe and gates locked so my young toddlers couldn't get out. He ended up tearing off over 6 total layers of old roofs dated back to the original old wood shake roof from 1910! He put all new plywood where needed, trim and fresh under layer and then beautiful "moray black" shingles. The house looks amazing, and is safe now with no more leaks or fear of the roof caving in on my babies and all for unbelievably much less than I thought I was going to have to put out for the roof. Now we can get our kitchen remodeled....all thanks to Busy Bee!!! You saved my life!
