I have been forgetting to write a review for pro cpr for yearsso here it is. Mark Gerber is an amazing teacher...lets say that first and foremost. I have been going for ACLS PALS AND BLS all at procpr ever since i was an EMT 20 plus years ago working as a PARAMEDIC and also now working for the veterans hospital in my current role. Everytime that i have taken my courses here at pro cpr i feel like i always learn something new and that im given the most up to date information that i can utilize in my day to day interactions with patients in emergency situations. CODES are a common occurence in my line of work and it makes me that much more confident when i deal with those situations that i have the knowlege and calm to perform my job. Instructors are amazing and i always thank them everytime i go. Because of your training over all these years i have helped in saving several patients lives and to me thats amazing. This class is not boring at all. I actually learned a lot, especially for my first time doing a CPR class. I was there to get my BLS card. The time flies and those 3 hours are up in no time. Email them first to reserve a spot and they will get back to you as soon as possible. Trust me they are still in business. Definitely coming back when my 2 years are up. read more

If you want to spend hideous amounts of $$$, looking to be intimidated, expect to be bored , PRO - CPR is NOT the place for you !!! :) !! I can't rave enough about this place.... first of all the price is right, checked out a few other recommended places in the area and i would have to pay at least 80 - 100 $$$ more, such a rip off. Location excellent, right there by PCH and Anaheim at Long Beach. I've been going back to this place for for the past 3 years for ACLS, BLS & PALS re cert and at first i thought it was a pain to try and get hold of them, there is a phone but goes straight to voicemail, however they respond to emails quite promptly and is also their recommended form of communication. Enviroment in the room can be a little cramped but the class is so enjoyable and stress free that you start to work your way into the class get to know others and you forget about the" cramped - ness ". Have always taken Mark's classes and he just makes things so stress free and learning such a delight. It's a family affair there, Mark & Cathy take the classes and their daughter helps with getting certificates ready. It's like going to that awesome, warm family owned resturant. Check them out, I guarantee, you won't regret it. It's the ONLY place to go as far as i'm concerned. Mark and Kathy Gerber are awesome instructors of BLS, ACLS. I've been going to them since I was a nursing student in 1995 and they continue to have fun classes where you learn so much and in an environment that is no-pressure and no stress (unlike classes that you take at hospitals). I have also taken their IV insertion classes and EKG interpretation in the past and the knowledge I gained from them as a nursing student has taken me all the way through PA school too. Just finished the ACLS course today and I am happy I yelped and found Pro-CPR. Mark was the instructor and he taught the material with such enthusiasm, the time just flew! We touched ACLS and cardiac rhythms in nursing school, but hearing Mark explain it just pieced everything together and, hearing for the second time, everything just made perfect sense. It also helps to print out the material they have on their website and reviewing that prior to attending class, it sure did help a lot. I didn't have time to purchase a book, but he had some in class for reference. There is a parking garage and street parking. During break time (15-20 mins), you can venture on down the street for some tacos at Hole Mole, or coffee at the coffee shop. I will definitely be coming back for PALS next month =) read more

I love PRO-CPR. As a new RN over 20 years ago, I was terrified of the real world. Mark and Kathy taught me how to insert an IV, read 12 lead EKGs, and how to perform ACLS (their mnemonics were key to my success as a young nurse working in a fast paced ICU at a very busy level 1 trauma center). I just can't go anywhere else, it's not the same. I come out of PRO-CPR learning more and not stressed at all. If you live far, it is worth every penny and time to travel here. I took this class because it was needed to work at a hospital and to apply to school. When I saw it was a 3.5 hours class, I was kind of dreading it because I thought it'd be boring. But the instructor made it really interested and kept the whole class awake! He made sure we knew the proper way to give CPR and went around the class when we were practicing. It honestly didn't feel like 3.5 hours after we were done. Definitely worth 40 dollars and I'll be back here after 2 years. read more

Despite showing up a few minutes late, the instructor was gracious and let me join in. He went over all the key points, especially changes from recent updates coming from the AHA. Provided the by the book way to do things along with practical tips from his own hands on experience. His explanations were easy to follow and helped me to understand the "why" behind some of instructions. Made the course interactive, gave time to practice, and had a good sense of humor. Mark is a very knowledgeable and entertaining instructor. I was initially intimidated to even take ACLS (doing it to open more opportunities), but his teaching style made the 2 days worthwhile. I tried to schedule the skills check off via email which resulted in some confusion. Initially the time was not confirmed for Monday which left me confused. I had two different emails saying the instructor wouldn't be back and than another asking if 1030 Monday would work. I say yes in two different emails. I did not get a reply to either. I addressed it Monday morning and chalked it up to Easter weekend. We rescheduled for Wednesday at 11. I called several times and emailed several times saying I was lost and asking for help. I sent one saying I'm five minutes behind. Then I sent another saying I was lost. I than kept calling around 1105. When I finally got to the location at 1115 the door was locked. I honestly think my appointment was forgotten about. I sat for an hour trying to get ahold of someone. This has resulted in me missing a flight to see my fiancé who is stationed in Las Vegas. Why am I missing a flight? Because I can't start work without PALS on Sunday and had to call around to find a company that just does the skills check off. The soonest I could find was tomorrow. When I attempted to find a location in Vegas that just does the skills check off I could not. The communication was terrible and the fact you can not call or text when you're lost is ridiculous. I remember being about five minutes late the last time I used them because I had issues finding the place and issues finding parking. She was understanding and was running behind herself. These things happen in LA. I'm not from LA so I rely heavily on maps or Waze. If you know someone is coming you should be available. I called another place in Orange with three locations and they picked up right away and sent me an email confirmation. read more

What else can you say about this place? I've been here two times to renew my CRP card and I have to say its the best and quickest way to do it. $40 and 3 and an half hours and your done. Mark teaches you everything you need to know and that's all you can really ask for. It's better now since they are offering more classes than when they were only offering 1 class a week. Just took my BLS renewal today and it was my first time here at this location. Loved it! Nowhere near boring and the instructors do not bore you. They make it all hands on and actually explain the information to you in which is very understandable. No 4 hrs videos! I liked that it was more hands on style like learning! I've taken certification classes for BLS, ACLS, and PALS here and the classes are great and straightforward. It's hands-on and the instructor is very helpful. It's also the cheapest I've ever found, but because of that, classes fill up fast. A couple of times I've had difficulty getting the classes on the days that are most convenient for me. I wish they had more space or more days, but I understand how it works. Also, it says on their website that the best way to contact them is through email. I've had times where it took a while for them to respond back. They also don't answer their phones. I'm sure they're busy so if you email them, don't expect an immediate response. Other than that, everything else is great and as long as there is space for me, I will continue coming here to get re-certified. read more

Got certified in CPR and 1st Aid/AED this weekend. The CPR class was only $35. For the 1st Aid, you have to do the online part first, print out your certificate, and then go in person for them to certify you and give you your card. The online part with the American Red Cross is $25 and then you have to pay $30 for the in person check off. I highly recommend Pro-CPR. The class was full but laid back and comfortable. read more

I took the ACLS class with Mark. Pros: Fantastic lessons, easy to follow, designed to teach and not intimidate, easy to ask questions, felt prepared for AHA test and for running codes. Also, one of the most affordable classes that I could find. They provided a few books for the class just in case someone didn't have them. ACLS class took about 5 hours. Cons: may be initially difficult to set up classes if you are someone that prefers to make phone calls over send emails - however, they were responsive and did answer all my questions via email. Overall: I am very happy with the class and not only will I recommend them to others, but I hope to go through them again for my re-certifications. read more

I have emailed them twice trying to set up an appointment to take a CPR class and unfortunately I have not received a response. I did read their response to someone else who has experienced the same issue recently and although I understand and can empathize, I still believe it is a bit unprofessional. I loved this BLS class! The staff is all professional, knowledgable, and friendly. I took my first CPR class 13 years ago when I first became a lifeguard and have taken many many CPR classes since. I recently recieved by CPR card from Pro-CPR. This class is great because its almost all hands on and no video which allows for alot of practice of the skills we learned.
