UPDATE: they emailed everyone letting us know about the class being cancelled due go an inconvenience and offered rescheduling or refunding. This email came inconveniently after the class ended but at least they provided us an update and options. About 10 of us made a reservation for the hybrid cpr class on Sunday and had all arrived 10 minutes in advance. The instructor sent emails out to us saying we should we there on time otherwise we are not allowed to take the class, but he has not arrived within an hour of the scheduled time slot (12 pm to 2:15pm). We are beyond upset about this unprofessional behavior from this organization (aka Frontline Alliance Health and ran by Lui Tortuya). read more

I accidentally booked in there Long Beach location. Less than 10 minutes later I booked the San Diego location. I was charged $140 plus for two classes. They have not sent my refund for the other class book. They are highly unethical and unprofessional. They are not registered with the BBB. I would avoid at all costs. read more

They sometimes use different pools so be sure to check YOUR registration. Lui has always answered my phone calls or texts. They will quickly take your money but will not follow up promptly on emailing you back or providing your CPR certificate in a timely manner. Hi when am I going to get my certificate?? I was told I was getting it Friday. I emailed and called and no answer.

So unprofessional, I took the class on Wednesday 11:30am and was told that the certificate would be emailed to us later that day or latest the following day at noon and if it wasn't then we should email them. I have now tried emailing them 4 times, I called 3 times, and I have not heard back once. If I would've known they were going to be so unprofessional then I would've never taken the course with them. I needed the certification by today to be able to start my new job next week and now I'm being told I can't start until next month for the following orientation. Horrible experience. read more

My son took the class. After the class was completed he was told they didn't have a printer and they would email him the certificate within 24 hours. That time passed. We contacted them and they said that it would come when it comes and not before... could be ten days. Not to mention my son said the instructor started the class by saying he was hung over. I had a disappointing experience with Breakwater Aquatics. Communication was severely lacking--I never received responses to any of my messages from the instructor, Lui. The night before my scheduled 8 AM class, he canceled at 7:30 PM with little notice. Afterward, I requested to be moved to a later class but received no response. When that went unanswered, I asked for a refund. It has been almost two weeks, and I have still not received a refund. While unexpected cancellations can happen, the lack of professionalism and failure to communicate or process refunds in a timely manner is frustrating. This "hybrid" class is long for no reason whatsoever! The only line course literally took 4-5 hours to complete and I tested out on a few lessons. Then they added opioids this year which added another unnecessary 45 minutes. It's $85 and still took 4 days to email my certification cards. I generally do not write a review however, my experience with LUI TORTUYA with Breakwater Aquatics, was absolutely terrible and thought you should know... he dismissed me from class because he said I wasn't following, aren't you an instructor? Day two of no correspondence from the company after attending in person portion and completing course I have still not received my certification . They had promised they would be in by end of the day and if not please contact them by lunchtime the following day . I called and instructor said he will check with admin (no call back) emailed twice no response so then I inquired with Red Cross if my cert is still just processing and I can't see it and Red Cross said : they don't even have record of the class occurring . They legally have 10 days to submit to Red Cross but I was promised same day or next day certification. I recently had my second baby in April and let my cert lapse when I was on maternity leave while I healed from childbirth or else I would have given myself more time to renew my bls . Now my job is riding on this certification being updated to get back to work and feed my family and pay rent and I'm getting no response . Now I fear I'm left taking another course coming out of pocket another $90 (that I don't really have) elsewhere to receive a timely certification with a more competent and communicative company . The class I was in was small enough that we were able to cater it more to our areas of interest and spend time practicing the things we will use in teaching swim lessons. I took a lifeguard training class fromfrom Breakwater in 2018 and found it to be a High quality program. So I signed up for the LGI class. The instructor, Lui, excellent! Very knowledgeable on the subject matter. He gives you insight on how to perform CPR and life-saving procedures. He explains how to organize the lifeguarding class and the materials. I recently attended a LGI/LG course through Breakwater and had a great experience! Both Lui and Noah expect you to be a confident swimmer, come with a mindset ready to learn, be competent, and proficient with your skills in the water as well as pool deck. Only ones writing bad reviews either didn't pass their swim test, written exam, or were asked to leave because they weren't prepared for the course they signed up for or showed up late. I saw a person that was kicked out for not completing the swim test on time and was not given a second chance, I understand why he was let go but he was let go in a humiliating way and was screamed at. I took the Lifeguard training certification with Breakwater Aquatics at the Silverado Park Pool on February 10th, 2018. Brandon was an excellent instructor and I learned everything I needed to know and more. I am not going to lie - I was soooo nervous! It ended up working out and I met a friend in class who shared she would be taking an upcoming Water Safety Instructor (WSI) course. I had such a wonderful weekend, I figured I would sign up for it too. LIFE CHANGING. I didn't know how much I wanted to be in the WSI class until I was in it. The course was lead by Lui and he is a world-class swim instructor. To learn from Lui was an honor. I know I have many questions and can sometimes be frustrating and yet, Lui was so patient and informative. I swear, he actually liked the questions because he CARES. I've been coaching for a good while now and needed to get my recertification for my WSI. Lui was an awesome instructor. I've been coaching swimming for a bit but I actually learned a lot that I can incorporate in my teaching. He was very clear and helpful and did the best to have us maintain the knowledge that is needed for the class. The WSI class anywhere is painful because of the amount of information and hours spent on the course, but he made it fun and pertain to our profession. I coach water polo for the majority of my teaching so he let me teach a water polo lesson rather than concentrate solely on swimming. It was fun and receieved great feedback. If you are taking a CPR class I do not recommend doing so with this company. I was scheduled for a class. I arrived 20min late due to an accident on the freeway. Upon arrival, the instructor Noah would Not let me in the class. He didn't even ask why I was late. However, he did instruct me to email the company & explain why I was late & ask to reschedule he wasn't sure if I would have to pay again or if they would charge me a $30 fee he said have a nice day and sent me on my way. I did not argue I responded thank you and you as well. I sat outside the class sent the email then left. This was on a Friday. It is now Wednesday the following week & no one responded to my email so I sent it again. $75 I paid these people for something they say is nonrefundable after I paid my money. This is a scam if I ever saw one. They didn't even respond to say sorry we won't be able to assist you with two emails & 3 days later (not even counting the weekend). This is how I was treated because something beyond my control warranted my money being taken without the chance of rescheduling for another chance to take a class I already paid for! I took the blended learning LGI and the amount of teach backs and in water exercises we executed were balanced and well put together with in class lecture.
