I don't have the cajones to box or do MMA. I just like shopping for workout equipment I see on Spike TV and HBO's 24/7. Maybe I can put all this training and cardio into good use in my next lifetime. But if you do fight or train, this hole in the wall spot is money. It's small and all the equipment for sale are stacked together. You can see everything with a 360 degree turn. They have wide array of boxing and MMA equipment . Gloves, kettle bells, mats, dummies, shorts, supplements, etc. My cousin and I came here for jump ropes, gloves, and medicine balls. Guy at the register was super cool and we chatted a bit about the upcoming Mayweather/Marquez fight. It's not the cheapest place but a lot of their items are hand made. Plus it's always good to support a small local business without all the marketing hoopla. If you're driving down Lake, they have a dressed mannequin sitting on a bench outside. I see it everyday on my way home and it still creeps me out. FYI - they have one parking space in front of the store and more spaces in the back. read more

It's been 6 years I've been a customer of Pro Boxing and when I need any martial arts or boxing equipment I come them. I'll be honest, I now buy some of my gear on line but if I need it right there and then I go to Pro Boxing. Ding-ding-ding! This is a no nonsense place to stock up on you boxing, groundfighting, and MMA supplies. There is a vast, but cluttered assortment of equipment, gear, and t-shirts from the usual suspects. The whole vibe is Army Surplus meets martial arts. I like this store b/c there is very little conversation from the two gents behind the cash register. You can shop in peace without the hard sell. If they like you, they may even recommend a no-name brand alternative to save you a few bucks. Otherwise, knock yourself out looking for those fight trunks or t-shirts you've been looking for. It doesn't hurt to call ahead if you have a specific label or design in mind. Trenell "Savant" Young teaches MMA classes "out back." I've heard good things about him, but mostly I like the gritty double jab of the store front that sells gear and the class/gym out back that teaches MMA. read more

Two different staff members dropped my order at 2 different times 2 weeks in a row. I even drove all the way out to their Pasadena storefront the first time to personally pick up a nonexistent order that was promised to be there, only to have my order taken again in person yet whiffed again when I called in to check on it a week later (which was the amount of time they said they'd need). Sure, they're friendly and they were apologetic, but it really seems like they just don't want business. I specifically asked to speak to both staff members, each of whom ducked me and blamed the other and didn't even give me the professional courtesy of a requested callback. They're really not living up their name "Pro" with this kind of unprofessionalism. Plenty of better shops to deal with in Orange County, I should have known better and stuck with them. P.S. Save yourself the trouble of buying their own branded equipment (I made an order for other brands that they carry, which may explain why they were so lackadaisical): their gloves are NOT built to last. I have seen multiple pairs of Pro brand gloves in a variety of models that have demonstrated everything from popped stitches to flappy velcro to bottomed out padding and cracked leather. Sure, they look and feel arguably OK new, but they fall apart quickly. All the while the guy on the phone kept on trying to talk me into buying their own brand, claiming it was superior to Cleto Reyes and even Winning! It almost feels like an insult to my intelligence and experience, but whatever. read more

For your gym-ready goods. THE AMBIANCE: Small boxing and martial arts boutique. You walk in and the glass counter is on your left and the merchandise is all along the right. In the front of the store you can find punching bags, weights, and kettlebells. Towards the back of the store you can find clothing, mainly boxing and Muay Thai shorts hanging on the walls, mouth guards, and other items. The glass counter is where you can scope out the different brands of boxing gloves they sell. THE SERVICE: I have come to this spot on two (2) occasions and the same guy was working the front counter. I'm not sure if he runs the store all day by himself but on both visits he was the only one around. They really don't need more people working the store because it's small and not too many people seem to frequent it at once. When you're asking questions or need assistance, however, and there's another customer there, the guy tends to go back and forth between you two (2) so it takes a while to get out of there. THE BATHROOM: There is a one (1) stall restroom that looks like it belongs in a mechanic shop. The toilet is messed up, there's barely any toilet paper, it's dirty, and the door doesn't close well or lock. THE TIPS: On a deserted street so street parking is easy to find. read more

This place is awesome, just got my self a grappling dummy where the owner makes it himself. (You can see him working right there..) And it's cheaper then any other 'mass-produced' ones. I tested out the dummy, and it's good as it comes. There are couple of weak spots I could see in the long run, but pretty easy to fix. They have all kinds of martial arts gears, and the owners were very helpful in choosing the best gear for the situation, as in, "What you want something to help with the summer heat? No, you don't want that most expensive GI, its heavy. Here you should be using this lighter, cheaper, but equally good GI, it'll stop you from passing out from heat." etc.etc. Anyway, I recommend people check it out if you are looking for fear. I am disappointed with this place! Recently, I decided to get back into boxing, bjj, etc.. problem is I had lasik (flap created ) about a year ago and I was told by the doctor be extremely careful with any contact sport. With that in mind, I did some research on headgear that would protect my eyes and came across Pro Boxing Equipment in Pasadena. I contacted someone at Pro Boxing ( failed to get his name) to see if they would be so kind as to recommend headgear that would offer the protection I need. The gentleman was really kind and sounded like he knew what he was talking about, and went on to recommend, to my surprise, the Cleto Reyes Face Saver over their own brand. I asked if it was in stock and he assured me it was in stock. I said, great! see you in a few days, and left it at that. So a few days later I go to pick up the headgear. Upon my arrival, the employee, which was not the gentleman I spoke to on the phone, tells me that the headset was not in stock and only available for online orders. I was bummed! I had driven from Fontana to Pasadena for nothing! Drive back east on the 210 on friday night = absolute nightmare! Dispite this little issue I decided to give them another shot, so I asked if they had anything similar to what I was looking for. The guy there was trying to sell me their version of the headgear, which I was totally fine with, that not only looked really used, but was also like 2 sizes too small . I felt insulted! My kindness was wearing thin. I started looking for anything that would offer some protection to my eyes and came across the Mexican style Pro Boxing headset, but that one was too small, too. so I asked the guy if they would happen to have that particular one in adult sizes. sarcastically, he tells me that the only color they had in stock was pink and that men could pull that color off no problem....... Ah, yeah, dude! The employee was clearly in a funky mood, and was obvious that he did not want to be there. Not only that, the place was an absolute filth! Headgear thrown on the floor with a trash can next to it, clothing also thrown all over the place, open boxes with merchandise all over the place, etc. The few reviews I have written on yelp, not one is a negative one. This time I felt I needed to speak up. Hopefully this review helps Pro Boxing make a few changes that would allow their business thrive! This store is specific to the love of contact sports. They have the name brand stuff for competition and also the items you use for training. They also sell their products at much better prices than the box stores. Moreover, their staff know what they are talking about because they are actively into contact sports too! The staff also doesn't try and sell you on stuff you don't need or they don't try to make you feel like they know better than you (even though in my case they most probably do.) When you go, it doesn't look like much from a store front view. But like all things worth it in life...its what's in the inside that counts. I can honestly give their store in Pasadena 5 stars. Clean, lots of stock, helpful, and friendly. First time I went in they were busy, but both guys asked if I needed help and said they'd be with me in a few minutes. They didn't just ignore me like some stores. I left since I can walk there and just went again this morning. Again, really friendly, Abdul asked where I trained. If I had time, we probably could have chatted, since no one else was there, which is nice since about the only place I can talk about sparring is at the dojo or in equipment stores. hehe BONUS, BONUS, the guy helping me, Isaac, did NOT take one look at a girl and reach for the fargin' PINK gloves. I hate that! He gave me a pair of black ones from the get go and said "let's check sizing first." I bought their brand name bag gloves. I'm normally an Everlast fan. My first pair lasted over 10yrs, but the last two were crap. Everyone in my new dojo has this brand, so I'll try 'em. I see below their online ordering is a little messy. Prior to coming to this place the only thing I knew about proequipment was that from working out at wildcard, their equipment is pretty solid and that certain people who influenced me liked their equipment. I was impressed before I went there. I went there and this is what I experienced: 1. The guy there was helping out a customer with what he needs for a speedbag for his home gym setup and how to breathe with a mouth piece on. They helped another person that came in. 2. He has an indepth knowledge of products they sell, manufacturers, history and origins of the brands they. You really don't find that, that often. He has a love of Olympic boxing, pro boxing etc and can tell you about the equipment used in both. Also can tell you the differences in material, builds of stuff for mma, kickboxing, how certain things can be modified yada yada. The lady there was awesome too. 3. I came in to get an angle bag. Well I came in to look at one. There was no pressure to buy one. I came out with the heavy universal bag, a small double end bag, a 60lb anchor, quality bag straps and 2 sets of mexican wraps. Again no pressure to get anything. 4. I came in again and they were helping out a couple. Even if you have no experience with boxing, martial arts or other arts, this is the place to go to. I ordered a pair of boxing gloves from this place. It's been nearly 2 weeks! I called a few days ago, they said it was on their way. I called just 5 minutes ago, they said they didn't get a shipment until today, and they will send it out today. OH! BUT, I'll get it in a few days. It's Friday, which means I probably won't get it until next Wed! I'll get it soon, they say. No... I should have gotten them over a week ago! I could have just driven there myself and picked up the gloves if I knew they were going to be like this-- with reimbursement for the gas! It's only an hour away! If you offer a delivery service, please deliver it and apologize if you have forgotten. I have gotten a hold of a couple people, both said "It will go out today." The second one said, "It's not my fault. It's my colleague's fault." That is an internal issue and not something that should be complained to the customer. The good reviews look like they are all from face-to-face transactions at their store. THE GEAR They have quality gear that last awhile and fit comfortably.
