I have to say we have taken all of our cars to Pritchards for inspections and repairs. In the past few years with warranties we have had to take our cars elsewhere - like local Subaru dealer and were astonished that they tried to tell us work that was needed on the car that IT DID NOT NEED. Took it back to Pritchards after having the recall work done and had Pritchard's go over the car thoroughly - Whew - glad we did. Not only did they tell us what we did NOT need to do they also told us what we needed to do at a substanally lower cost almost $1000 less (!). I trust what they tell me and feel assured they will not tell us to do more work than we need on our cars. read more

Had my winter tires switched out to summer tires. All the lights on the dash were lit up after I picked it up. Took it back and they said it was a rusty sensor and would be around $500 to fix. Did not do the fix and after one trip in the car, the front end was shaking. Pulled over and 2 lug nuts were missing. Took it back and was charged to replace the lug nuts. They wanted to do more work but I drove away. read more

I have to share my review of Pritchards to help others avoid their body shop. My car needed some repainting that someone else's insurance was covering and Jim quoted me an estimate of 12 days. I turned it in about 3 weeks before I needed it back to travel to some events to give myself a buffer in case of delays. Jim was aware of this deadline and told me it would be finished before that time. I called after my car had been there for one week and Jim told me it had not been started on. I was shocked, but he told me my car would be ready the day before I needed it. I called back a couple days after that to ensure work had been started. It had and in fact, Jim had found additional damages and ordered new parts without checking with me or the insurance covering the repair which I found extremely rude and disrespectful. Two days before I needed the car back (the repair already overdue at this point from the estimate), I called Jim and he was unsure if the car would be ready. I asked him to keep me updated. He never called. I called him the day before I needed the car ready, a Thursday. He said he was unsure if it would be ready. I was floored. I said I needed to know so I could make other travel plans. He said to call back later, which I found very rude and unprofessional, when he knew about my timeline the entire time AND the project was already days overdue. I called back and he informed me the car would not be ready but that I would be his first call the next Monday. I was not his first call the next Monday, and I ending up having to call him. Jim said he was not sure how much work needed to be done or what time it would be ready. After speaking to a manager and hearing what work still needed to be done, I realized Jim my car had not been worked on at all since Thursday. Pritchard's never reached out to me or kept me informed about my car. I understand delays happen but to not keep your customer informed, or ordering additional parts without their consent is bad service. In fact - they had the car for an entire week before even starting the job. I would not advise using the body shop at Pritchards because of their poor communication with customers. read more

I don't know what is going on with Pritchard. They have been my goto for a while and Bill used to call to follow-up after a service call but this month everything went off the rails. We brought in two vehicles and got more than a thousand dollars in estimates. We balked and took it elsewhere. The worst problem turned out to be a bumper that had been scraping against a tire. It took bending by hand to fix, not a new front end. I was worried something had disrupted their organization but the website looks like nothing has changed. This is a long one so bare with me, I have finally decided that after months & months of dealing with Pritchard Auto, a review had to be done. Multiple vehicles & multiple issues, I can't even begin to list. Our truck broke down & was towed to Pritchards. I liked the idea of supporting a local busines, however it's been a nightmare. Not only a nightmare, but a recurring nightmare. The most important key to a successful business is communication. Pritchard's is lacking communication, my vehicle was there for days without a word of what could be the issue, no updates, nothing until I called. When the vehicle was finally diagnosed & fixed, it broke down again. Information regarding other concerns about the vehicle were never given, it was all told outside of the shop, when we ran into the mechanic. I was given more information that way than I was through Matt. When the vehicle was taken back, as they said the parts were under warranty, it sat out back in what they call "the pit" for about a month, again no communication until I stopped in to ask what was wrong and if we needed to take it to another shop/dealership, I was then informed that the catalytic converter was taken off/stolen. The shop knew for at least a day or two & we were never informed! The exhaust was taken care of by them, but the vehicle broke down yet again. When I called the shop for another issue, for a different vehicle, I was given an update on the current vehicle at their shop. They knew Monday afternoon the vehicles' issues & here it was 3pm the following day & my spouse still wasn't given the information. There is a lack of trust & communication in this shop as the employees who have worked there longer than Matt has been alive, aren't allowed to say or do anything such as give updates or calls without Matt's approval. He is very unsupportive of his customer service desk employee & he has taken on too much to be good at what he is suppose to be doing. He has also informed us our vehicle is ready & I've walked in to be told, oh the other part came in & it will be an additional $200 plus when I already spent thousands, this part was never told to me that it was needed or that it was ordered but hasn't come in yet so while the other work is done (brakes & evap issue) we're resolved the all wheel/4wheel drive button would need to still be taken care of. The frustration of dealing with Matt should have made me never to want to go back, but I wanted to trust this shop & support local, hard working mechanics but it is just not going to happen here. Another issue is that when a family members truck would not start, I recommended Pritchards, even though I had experience issues, I felt like it was the customer service, lack of communication & honestly just Matt. The truck had a bad starter so the starter was replaced in a timely manner, finally a decent experience. Wrong!! The truck would not start after one week, now please know the owner of the truck is retired, the truck is well maintained for tire balancing, oil change etc & may not be driven daily, but after 1 week, the truck would not start. I called & spoke with the customer service desk, the gentleman informed me the part was under warranty & the tow & labor would be covered. However, we did not want to bring it back to them as it just didn't feel right, it should not be having these issues after just 1 week. The gentleman told me, we can cover the tow but not the labor. We agreed & the truck was towed. When the tow company called Pritchard Auto for payment, Matt refused. I called & a heated conversation was had. Matt refused to back what his employee informed me , said I was no longer their customer & hung up on me. The issue is still unresolved & I do not feel like this is good customer service or a way to run a good business. If an employee states the tow will be covered, it needs to be covered. read more

After three years of dealing almost exclusively with Pritchard Automotive for car repairs, I can break down my experiences with them into pros and cons: Pros: You can almost always make an appointment for the next business day, and they will generally complete the repair on the day scheduled. When their mechanics do an unsatisfactory job, they will generally stand by their one-year warranty and repair their own repairs free of additional labor charges. Cons: The mechanics at Pritchard Automotive are not especially competent. I estimate that one-third to one-half of the repairs I have had done at Pritchard Automotive, have required at least one return visit for their mechanics to correct or redo work that was not done competently the first time. This quickly becomes a real time sink, and of course there is no reimbursement for hours the customer spends driving back and forth to their shop or waiting around for them to correct their own errors. Pritchard Automotive also routinely charges 2-3 x retail for expensive parts, on top of their $90 per hour labor charge (the labor charge I think is standard for our area; I just wish it bought competent workmanship). I only stayed with Pritchard Automotive for as long as I did, because the initial work I had done there (brakes and exhaust) was expensive, and led to a dependency on their shop for warranty work (no one else was going to redo their faulty work free of charge). Finally this Spring I have had enough. I strongly suggest that would-be customers look elsewhere, and not let themselves get locked into a string of repairs, followed by repairs of repairs, at Pritchard Automotive. read more

Scheduled an appointment to replace a CV axle. They were courteous on the phone and flexible with timing given that I had to wait for parts to arrive. The staff are very knowledgeable and it's obvious that they do quality work. Far and away the best part was the price. Over the winter, when it was still bitterly cold outside, my car battery died while I was parked across the street from Pritchard. I went inside with the intention of just asking for a jump, but they offered to bring my car in and take a look at my battery, then confirmed what I already knew--that my battery had totally bit the bullet (I had been having problems with it for a few weeks at that point and was just in denial). They quickly replaced it for the same rate as if I had taken my car back to the dealer, while being exceedingly friendly and continuously offering me coffee. Of course no one ever wants to pay the money to have a car battery replaced, but it was otherwise a pleasant experience. read more

I had my car detailed at Pritchard to get it ready for the winter. I got it back today, and it looks fantastic. Interior is as clean as when I first purchased it, and they were not pushy trying to offer services that I did not want. I realized that my headlights needed to be buffed to get some of the oxidation off, and they were able to make time for that as well (for a fee of course). They needed to take 2 days because of their workload, and on the second day, I needed a ride to class which they also did without issue. The total for interior and exterior detail as well as my headlights was $322. They did a great job, and I will definitely go back to have my car detailed again when needed. read more

Wow, I scheduled my Dodge ram for routine service, spark plugs, wires, transmission flush etc. I was told 3 to 3 1/2 hours, so I waited in town. 6 hours later, I was at the service desk, ready to go home. The bill was $300.00 more than the estimate! Why bother with an estimate, not even close. I could see $100.00 more or less but $300.00 more is excessive. While looking to write this review I stumbled upon a coupon for 10% off service, that would have saved me $ 80.00! No one offered that to me when I paid my bill. No one gave a damn when I said wow that is alot more than your estimate! Thanks for the call Bill, you care enough to call to check the quality of service as you have done on all my other visits. You should have offered the 10% coupon after the fact. Merry Christmas to you to. I guess when customers are not happy you really don't care. I just began coming to your shop last Summer, i have spent over $3000.00 in your shop in 6 months, repeat business is not something you care about. Our sales Person, Dan went to great lengths to make sure we were able to get the van. We just purchased a $22,000.00 Ford E250 cargo van from this dealer. I located the vehicle on cars.com. There was no sales effort on their part. when I went to pick up the vehicle I was handed two keys with no remote keyless entry. I asked Tom Pritchard to please get us a new remote after all we just spent $22,000.00. I followed up with Dan Pritchar and was told they did not get one with the vehicle and I could buy my own for a couple hundred dollars. I always try to do business locally but felt this was very unprofessional. I've been taking my car to Pritchard for Oil Changes & Inspections since Sept 2013. I've always worked with Ed. My car had been making a weird rattling noise for some time but I hadn't addressed it. I took it for an oil change in June 2015 & asked for an estimate on a Timing Belt, Water pump & Serpentine belts as my car had hit 100,000 miles. I also asked where they would recommend I get new speakers for my car. I took the car in for the replacements over a week later & the serpentine belt was still not in yet so I had to go back to get that replaced two weeks later even though the belt was due the time of the first appt. During the first appt I was told I could get a ride home but they wouldn't be able to pick me up to get my car until the following day. I had plans that night so I stayed. I was told the appt would take 3-4 hours. I ended up in the waiting room for 7 hours. Someone else in the waiting room with me in the morning was dropped off & picked up while I was there & was wondering why I had been there the whole time. I was told it took longer than expected because they had trouble getting rusted screws back in. When I got home I checked out my car & there was a cover underneath that was hanging down because it was missing two screws. I had them put two screws in during the Serpentine replacement. In September I noticed something hanging down underneath my car & brought it in for that & to get it prepared for inspection. They told me it needed a sway bar, complete exhaust because it was cracked in the front, replace the heat shield that had almost fallen off (which they removed - it was rusted terribly so it need to be replaced), and brake lines on the driver's side. I took it to another shop to get a 2nd opinion and they brought me in to see how bad the rust was underneath my car so I could see for myself & all the work that needed to be done because of the rust issue. They said it needed all that Pritchard said but also needed new struts, and that the oil pan was dripping oil so there might be a leak. They said the brake line was so bad if I slammed on my brakes I might lose them. They said the frame was rusted so bad they were afraid to put it on the lift again. Plus they asked me if the clutch had ever been replaced. I said no & they said that was an expensive repair and as the car was 16 years old that may have to be done soon. So they recommended that I buy a new car as the repairs that needed to be done were extensive, the rust would lead to more repairs down the road, and I was better off spending my money on a new car. They recommended a couple of places in Cortland to buy a car. The guy also told me that service people are often paid commission on repairs so it is only beneficial to them to recommend repairs to their clients. I was heartbroken and felt betrayed by Pritchard's. Pritchard's even sells cars too so they could have sold me a new car. I don't understand how they could have missed all of these issues during previous inspections or during the oil change in June. If they had told me about all of the repairs necessary in June I would have bought a new car then. I would not have replaced the belts & water pump and bought new speakers. Because of this I ended up throwing away $1220 when I bought a new car in September. When I pulled up the car salesman even said he understood why I was buying a new car after hearing how it sounded. Today I spoke to Bill Pritchard who calls customers to see what they thought of their experience. This was the first time I was contacted - not after either of the belt replacements but because I hadn't brought it back after having them look at it in Sept.. He left a message on September 28th & I finally had time to get back to him. I told him everything & told him I would never bring my car back to Pritchard's again. He looked up my last two work tickets & spoke to Ed. Ed told him the rust wan't that bad & he wouldn't be afraid to put it up on a lift again. Bill said he stood behind Ed's opinion. No apology for me being upset and telling him I would not bring it back there ever again. read more

- They have poor quality of workmanship - They don't check their work - They charge people for mistakes they made - They don't stand behind their service Details below: In October 2012 I took my car (2003 BMW 330xi) to change the valve cover gasket at this place. The service took 2 days, and they even provided courtesy shuttle. However, after I picked up the car, the check engine light came on. I took the car back, and they said that one of the vacuum lines has been damaged during repairs and charged me extra to replace it and clear the codes (their reasoning was that the car is 9 years old and plastic is brittle). After I picked up the car the second time, the check engine light came on again in. This time they forgot to connect air intake to the MAF sensor. Luckily, they didn't charge me for this mistake. Six month later the valve cover gasket started leaking again (I was in Cali so it took me some time to visit this place again). I went to Prichards today (Oct 2013), and they said that it is probably bad gasket, or warped valve cover, and offered me "may be some discount" to look at it and pointed to poor OEM parts and poor parts original valve covers made by BMW. Well, based in my experience I already know that the quality of their labor is horrible, than they don't double check their work and that they charge people for the mistakes they make. I advise you against going there: even though the service people are nice and attentive, they do horrible job at fixing cars and their workmanship is poor. read more

This review is for the Auto Detailing Services Prichard's offers. I took my car in for a basic hand wash today. I was told the wash should only take 30 minuets but ended up taking a little over 45 minuets. I don't mind waiting as long as the service is good. After spending $20.00 for the wash and a $5.00 tip to the detailer, I get to my car which is still dripping wet. The wheels and wheel wells were not cleaned, both the top and lower parts of the car were still filthy dirty, and to top it all off, the detailer did not wipe down my windshield and allowed the car to sit in the sun causing hard water spots to etch into my windshield. I cannon't comment on the service department of Prithcard's but I would highly recommend AVOIDING them for auto detailing services. read more

very impressed! My daughter is a student at IC. She took her car to Pritchards because it was making horrible noises and she knew something was wrong. Long story short she needed a new transmission and was starting her 1st day of student teaching. Matt was awesome, got her set up with a very inexpensive rental and sent her on her way. We decided to go and get the car and tow it home as we have a family member that is a mechanic. Matt and his Dad were so kind. We had the car in the lot for almost a week. My caution to you serves as a warning against their Service Department. After placing my automobile under diagnosis, they explained they identified the problem and could fix it. Long story short, the "repairs" they performed were wholly inaccurate, causing us more problems and malfunctions. Took the car elsewhere, they outlined all the work that was previosuly done was inaccurate, placing us in danger. When we presented Pritchard's with the findings of the dealership, they expressed little remorse and was surprised we asked they cover the cost of the actual repairs they initially were to fix. Long story short, after 5.5 weeks, the problem still persist. The Service Department needs constant follow-up, as they do not provide timely updates. Save yourself the money and possible safety dangers by taking your car elsewhere. read more
