I like to think of Printemps Haussmann as the quiet, more laid-back, & grownup sibling of Galeries Lafayette & our shopping excursion here proved it. Just as large as Galeries but without the chaotic crowds Fantastic perfume selection! After browsing & sniffing for what seemed like forever, we ended up going w/ Guerlain & that was after visiting their shop on Champs Elysees.....left there unimpressed but here at Printemps, they helped us find the exact match for my Mom. And this was no regular old Guerlain scent that I can get in the US......OH NO! This is a Paris-exclusive! Not available online, not available outside Paris! Mom will *love* it....& should be a nice xmas gift as she ( like me ) likes things that are impossible to get We also bought some chocolate from their Maison Du Chocolat - where else can you spend $100 on 2 *extremely* small boxes of chocolate?! I would have bought some for myself as well but it seemed like everything & I mean *every* offering in their case was paired w/ fruit & for those who know me, I'm a chocolate purist & mixing fruit & chocolate is just blasphemous.....but as gifts for those who like to indulge, I'm an enabler Crowds were so much more manageable than at Galeries - so I didn't get claustrophobic or antsy to get out of there - happy, pleasant browsing & gifts secured for loved ones! This is a very large location. It was decorated for Christmas and made it enjoyable walking throughout. At certain times of the day it can get packed, especially if there is an opera performing near by. People may kill time shopping before or wander afterwards. Kering's could use its flagship venue to promote noteworthy collections, quality products and French savoir-faire... Instead, it is a showcase of mass-produced mediocrity, popular yet tacky brands and overrated designers. The selection is blatantly pedestrian and depressing. Don't go there if you are looking for quality and value. In addition, most of the staff is apathetic. The store and selection is not as awful as Les Galeries Lafayette but honestly, you are better of strolling the small streets of Le Marais or St. Germain if you want to shop. read more

The first thing you notice when you enter Brasserie Printemps is the huge stain glass ceiling. It provides an excellent ambiance to enjoy a meal and it's absolutely beautiful. It reminded me of a higher end version of Nordies Cafe. Or, maybe it's just because they're French and it just seems that way. My friends and I decided on the duck puff pastry, the chicken parmesan salad and the spinach penne pasta. The duck puff pastry and the penne pasta were delicious! The duck pastry was definitely a delight, with it's flaky crust, flavorful filling and a light sauce to compliment. The salad was just okay. I just suggest trying something you wouldn't typically have back home. You'd be surprised! The place is definitely popular. It's obvious by how crowded it is. Really a great place to people watch and you never know what you'll end up seeing. If you're an American tourist and don't want to stick out, don't wear your favorite pair of jeans and well used kicks. It's that kinda place. read more

Nice DT department store with the usual designer labels. Way bigger selection than the one by the Louvre museum. Friendly service staff who speak better English and not surprisingly, many who speak Mandarin lol. Felt like I was back home as they greeted me in Chinese. For once, the import brands actually cost more than North America Ie Timberland. Unfortunately this location does charge to use washrooms because located inside an independent spa, think 3rd level. This brasserie is fantastically good looking. It very much feels liek a stylish set where you may find Carrie and the girls dining or even the guys from Devil Wears Prada. The huge stained glass dome must be seen to be believed and its impossible not to look pretty under that light. Nothing is out of place here. The service as well is really friendly and helpful. What lets this one down is the pretty dry and microwaved food, obviously made in a factory somewhere and its eyebrow raising when it pops up 2 minutes post order. Very bland. The desert however was really yummy. I would still reccomend this one but dont go for the food, go for the looks.... read more

I love coming to Printemps. It is far less crowded than Galeries Lafayette, with most of the same merchandise. There was a short line to get into Chanel, but not for Louis Vuitton. It feels like a proper high-end boutique should! The staff are very friendly and helpful as well. They also have a Tax Free desk in the store, along with a Laduree pop-up shop. Grab a treat and browse without being shoved around by hoards of tourists! read more

I think Printemps is much better than the over-rated Harrods (but not as good as Selfridges in London). They have 3 or 4 buildings and like Harrods and Selfridges, the selection are incredible -- for example, one floor of nothing but men's underwear. I spent a lot of time in the home/kitechware section being the nester that I am and found some one-of-a-kind items worth lugging back to the states. The lady that helped me was so friendly as were all the people who work there. I found a secret, which is the rooftop bar. The views are stunning and on a sunny day in Paris, there was nothing better than to enjoy a glass of wine enjoying the city views. read more

This LV store was the worst store I have ever went to, customer service is not in their vocabulary. I brought VL purses and wallets for one of my daughters and wanted to purchase another one for my other daughter. However, I did not purchase as on my vacation this time because I could not get anyone to service me. I know I did not come in with my Sundays best but in retail you should never judge a book by its cover. I even tried talking to a manager about how the sales people would not address me and looked toward the floor when they walked by. Additionally, two sales people almost knocked my daughter over when they walked by. This have let a bad tasted to m that I might not purchase another thing from LV. read more

The building is beautiful but almost every building in Paris is beautiful (not you, Tour Montparnasse). This place sucked the energy out of us AND I had to pay €1.50 to use the really regular restroom. The fuck? If I didn't have to pee that bad, I would've walked straight out of the building. The department store itself is filled with all the name brands with lines and lines of Asian tourists in front. I wasn't interested in buying any of it so we didn't wait in any lines. But, we did walk into Prada and saw a bag that was very cute. We asked the Asian associate if other Pradas carry that bag and she gave us quite a bit of attitude saying she physically can't look this information up for us (a different associate at a different Prada was happy to oblige). This review is specifically for the bridal department. I made an appointment to try on dresses because I thought that I would be able to try a number of designers at a large department store like Printemps. Unfortunately, that is not the case. They carry only Pronuptia and they didn't have several of the dresses that I wanted to try after reviewing the book. The service was also lacking. My appointment started late and the woman who was helping me and my mother did not seem very interested or very competent. She tried to put a dress over my head that clearly I should have been stepping into and when the multiple skirts kept getting bunched up, she got very impatient. And when I asked her if there were dresses that she though might look good on me that I hadn't yet tried she kind of shrugged and told me to try what I like. Gee thanks. After I was finished trying on the dresses, she asked if we were ready to "order now." Maybe things were a little lost in translation, but I was a bit taken aback by that question. I had told her it was only my second bridal appointment, so obviously I wasn't going to be placing an order that moment. Lastly, when we were leaving, I spotted another dress that I wanted to try. She refused to let me because she said there was no more time (even though there was no one waiting). read more

The Chinese lady at the detax office seemed to be trying to dissuade us from getting our refund in cash, but we persisted and she relented. After you get the proper forms upstairs, you go downstairs to get your cash. Efficient workers but just wished there were more of them to handle the long lines due to the Korean and Chinese tourists that come en masse on the huge buses. Goyard was small and not helpful. We came in and one staff was helping a customer. The other staff that was not doing anything didn't offer even a hello. We left after browsing a bit. read more

Printemps for Home Decor: Very pricey and a small selection of luxury mass market brands. I just signed my first apartment in Paris and am on the look out for classic, well-priced, quality home goods. Printemps was one of my first stops, as I knew "Printemps Maison" has several stories dedicated to the kitchen, dining, bath and decor. However, I found it disappointing that there were not much variety in the brands. Very generic luxury brands only. However, if you have your eyes set on the LVMH of home decor and only want goods from there, then this is your store. I, however, enjoy little things that I can collect for the home, instead of buying branded products that cost a fortune. Tip: There is Printemps Mode (for clothes and handbags), and further down the street (away from Galeries/Opera), is Printemps Beaute & Maison (beauty and home). read more

I was there in the spring but just remembered (how could I forget?) what the most memorable part of this store was - the women's restroom. Yes, there is a line, but while you are waiting in line you are in the boutique that sells not only the most creative variety of toilet tissue I have ever seen in my life, but seat covers of every description and color as well as state-of-the-art designer toilets...absolutely mesmerizing and just as expensive as the rest of the store...and it's probably the least expensive cuz all you needed to do was tip the poor person who makes a living at making sure the restrooms are clean at all times...and FYI, each stall had a different designer toilet. Gotta love it!! Printemps is definitely a must-see when you're in Paris. It's like being in the surrealness of what you see in the ads and fashion layouts of all the women's magazines you skim through - amazingly beautiful and out of reach for the average shopper in this most ultimate of upscale shops. Love it but I found smaller places around Paris that were a bit more affordable. Of course I would go back - to browse some more and have lunch at the Laduree inside the store and people watch. read more

The store is every shopping addict's dream. It's a large oversized Saks Fifth Avenue or Neiman Marcus. It takes up a good block of Paris with a special section for home, mens, and womens. A lot of the items are the same high-ends that you would find at a luxury department store here at home. There is a good selection of jewelry and accessories on the bottom/premiere etage. They had both the high fine jewelry and low priced custom jewelry. The high point was the contemporary clothing, shoes, and handbags. I wasn't too crazy with the selection of designer clothing- limited and not quite the style I was looking for. I found many pieces in the contemporary lines. They had an entire floor devoted to shoes and they were AMAZINGLY comfortable. However, no Christian Louboutin so I didn't get any shoes either, only clothes. The store also has a la Duree- the most DELICIOUS macaroons.. if you need a few refreshments after all the shopping ;) or a cafe on the premiere etage if you don't fancy la Duree. I was a bit disappointed though that the store didn't carry a Christian Louboutin line or Hermes within the store. The Swiss concierge was really nice in helping us locate the Christian Louboutin and the Hermes store as well. I really loved how they offered a conversion for you at a 3% rate in dollars or you can swipe your credit card in euros if the card rate is lower. Also, if you are a foreigner you can get a discount card for 10%-12% off tax free- but you have to show your passport. Bottom line: It's an experience that every person must experience once in their lifetime/ during your trip to Paris, especially the shopaholics/fashionistas.. you have never seen such a large luxury department store. read more

I don't usually like big department stores. But I happened to have a day off on the first day of Sales in Paris and thought I'd stop by just to have a look. I expected hassle, noise, and messy stands. I found none of that! The store has been massively redone recently and looks amazing. Brands are more high-end and the overall shopping experience is seamless. And you can have a nice little break at the store's restaurant on the top floor - great food, friendly service and gorgeous setting - talk about icing on the cake! The only reason this store is receiving three stars is because of the convenience of having so many brands in one place: Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Moncler... But everything else about this store is a nightmare. It almost feels like an outlet with impersonal service, long lines to get in the stores and security guards looking through your bags. Trying to detax my purchase was a nightmare and I ended up having to come back two days later. As Ina L said, Le Bon Marche is a far superior and high end shopping experience. Perfect place to purchase clothing from a French designer. Some were for myself and the rest as gifts. The recipients tend to appreciate them more than the usual shirt/sweatshirt souvenir. Ever since we switched to this option when picking up gifts in a country we're visiting, we've noticed the clothing we buy them actually get worn. Should you need a break, stop by Ladurée for high tea. Printemps only gets four stars because when the temperature starts to drop, they crank the heat all the way up. Last December , 12 I went to Printemps store in Paris. I was searching for a perfume and then I saw the Frederic Malle kiosk. When I was getting closer to the balcony, I noticed the blond sales attendant was talking in her smartphone and a the same time attending two guys Who were together. She was undecided if she answered to the phone or she attended the guys. Even before I asked or tried something, I was surprised by her. She started yelling at me ordering me to go to the other side of the balcony. I was scared and constrained in fron of other customers, who looked at me surprised too. I was going to buy Dans Tes Bras and another perfume I was yet to choose, but decided to buy in another place. I'm very polite and I didn't even said or done anything that could justify her awful behavior. I didn't even touch the perfumes. I tried to find her manager to make a complain, but no one of the staff wanted to tell me who was the manager. Then I made a formal complaint in the Printemps website (customer services) and they never cared to give a feedback. I'm not sure wheter it is the brand (Frederic Malle) or Printemps itself that is responsible for this empolyee. But the whole situation was absurd. Who they think they are to yeall at a customer???  For our luck, Galeries Lafayette is quite next to it. read more

This is a great department store and in my opinion better than galleries Lafayette although to be fair both places are great. The choice of brands is amazing from Gaultier, Pucci, Chanel, APC, zadig&Voltaire, Dolce&Gabbana to name a few, this is shopping heaven. Watch out for discount vouchers which come free with guides, its usually a standard 10% off which is better than nothing although some high end departments (Chanel) don't take part in this. The ninth floor terrace restaurant is great and not too pricy, you can have a coffee with macaroons or a club sandwich and the service is swift. It is really worth popping in even just to have a look out on the terrace which has some amazing views. read more

Another big Parisian department store with a very wide variety of high end products at quite pricey prices. I really like looking around for gifts, but I'm too stingy to buy for myself there. I spent about £30 on a candle that my wife wanted, £200 on a bracelet in Tiffany's and £20 on a toy monkey for my (as of then) unborn son. I really like the home department, and also its worth visiting in the christmas shopping period as the decorations and mood is really nice. Service was excellent and the staff are all polite and welcoming. I'd shop there for everything if I was made of money. read more

Setting is nice with a high domed ceiling made of stained glass; some of the panes are broken. I wonder about the cleanliness as we saw lots of mice scurrying between the bar in the center of the space and the tables circling the bar. Started with fresh mozzarella and tomato tartar. That was only OK at best. Then had the lamb confit, which was pretty good but really more like braised or stewed lamb. Service was polite though most of the time we were ignored and had to wait long times -- as much as 25 minutes or more in some cases -- to order another round of drinks or order meals. They weren't busy and had plenty of wait staff. Like the prior reviewer, this did remind me somewhat of a Nordstrom Cafe though not nearly up to Nordstrom's standards in terms of building maintenance, cleanliness or customer service. read more

I went to this location for the Christian Louboutin store! It was smaller than I expected but I found what I was looking for! Michel, my salesperson was beyond professional! He was very attentive and helpful and gave me such great tips and explained everything in order to cherish my pair of Louboutin! He is an exemplary employee and I think I will go to him whenever I shop in Paris now! I went a few days after my purchase to buy another pair, and he was helpful in selecting another model. As for the whole store Printemps itself, it was very nice if you are looking to buy some designer brands! Very wide selection. Don't forget your Detax when you go! It's a must! So after giving a review of De Bijenkorf in Amsterdam, this is pretty much the same deal, high end luxury department store like Saks. But this is so big where you will get lost. My sis and I spent about 3 ish hour in there and with about 40 minutes being lost / trying to find the VAT refund station. Okay so Im going to break this down into four sections: 1) Longchamp, like De Bijenkorf in Amsterdam, there are two different Long champ store. which I went to the small one and bought the Eiffel Tower medium Tote for $80usd ( still didnt count in the discount of VAT). Then we realize there is a BIGGER Longchamp store located in the bottom floor!! GRR! Whatever I already bought it so I just browse and left. 2) Chanel: there was a line for 30 minutes, feels like Disneyland. We went to a regular boutique and there is no waiting line. IDK why they have to create this hype. So we waited. While we were inside we realize that they have such limited collection, where once you get in, there is a "personal shopper assistant" who is there to help you shop. So its kind of like somewhat pressuring you to buy something.. I mean you asked all these questions and you dont buy??? So TIPS for WINDOW SHOPPER OR BROWSER... this Chanel is NOT the place to do that with.. bc either you will leave out of embarrassment bc you realized you need to save up couple more paychecks, or you pressure into buying something that You cannot return ( you are in Paris not USA) or you have an option like my sister, which is asking billions of questions of pricing and finally get the small Chanel that you can somewhat afford after saving months of paychecks. I got to tell you its really cute classic Chanel. Anyhow, the lady was nice enough to help us through all the different options, after I told her that our budget was about $1500 max and she pulled out different choices for my sister to pick. So she went home with one. Whats good about Chanel is that you can always bring to any Chanel and having cleaning and repair done for free! Ladies remember to get your VAT refund!! My sister was able to save about $130 usd. 3) VAT refund, omg do yourself a favor and go down to the automatic machines. The ladies at the windows are b*tches with attitude. After waiting for like 15 minutes, I gave her the receipt she was like" where is your form? " I was like" what form? You need the form? " Shes like: "downstair, you get the form and come back" WTH!! after 15 minutes of waiting, NO SIGNS tell you that you need a form?? GOD!! So when we went downstairs trying to hunt for that form, we accidently found the automatic machine which we got everything done within 5 minutes!! So all we need to do is show that to the Custom that day when we leave Europe. TAKE THAT LADY AT THE WINDOW!!!!! 4) Bathroom!!! The only bathroom there is ( in the entire mall) is charging you $3 EUROS.... PEOPLE, do you understand that is like $5usd to use a freaking bathroom???? I mean sure the decor is spa like, they play relaxing music so you can go smoothly and they have two people constantly refilling toilet papers and they have seat warmer and a butt sprayer.. but come on!!! are you really gonna use all that in a public bathroom at a mall???? geez.. I cant believe its $5 admission fee to the bathroom... ITS FREE IN THE US!!! we might not have the luxury seat warmer or the butt cleaner but you do that in the shower at home not a public mall... totally pointless to me... AND being 10 weeks pregnant where you gotta use the restroom 10 times/ hr, this really made a hole in my wallet... For $5 admission, I would prolly expect some sort of mouthwash or toothbrush or hairspray, perfume or something.. nope.. nothing. Had the worst shopping experience of my life in Printemps Homme today. I'm not exaggerating, and I've shopped in department stores the world over. I went to the Chemise/shirts department on the 5th floor with my parents to help my father look for a shirt and tie for my sister's wedding in Bordeaux next week, and found one I liked by Paul Smith. I asked the sales person for help to find his size, and her response was "trop slim" or "too slim". He is not by any means overweight, he is a 42/16 around the neck. I said that was ok, and would just like help finding a size that would fit, no matter the actual size number, and she WALKED AWAY. I then asked another sales person for help finding his size in this shirt and she said "i don't know", to which I replied "It's hanging on the rack as a sample, can you please show me where the shirts are?" (as there was just one of each available shirt hanging on the rack) and she replied "I'M TOO BUSY". The rude, couldn't-care-less attitude was frustrating and unhelpful to say the least, so I set about looking for the actual shirts. I pulled open a drawer below the shirts on display and immediately found the exact shirt in several sizes, and pulled two out. They were in their plastic packages in his actual size and one above and gave them to him to try on. He found the fitting room and set about taking the shirts out of the plastic sleeves and removing the collar stays etc, tried both on, and decided he liked the smaller one which fit well. He got dressed and brought both shirts out, and gave them to the second sales person saying he'd take one, and APOLOGISED for taking the shirts out of their packaging We really didn't want to stay around but he needed to find a tie, so we found some hanging and chose one that worked. It was tucked near the back of the rack, and the sales person came by and GLARED AT US. At which point my mother who was upset said, "excuse me, could you help us extricate this tie please?" and she tried to remove it. I then said a few choice words to her, saying that her service, attitide and manner were offensive and that I didn't understand why this kind of treatment and attitude was necessary. My parents also said they didn't know why they were being treated like this, and that we'd like to speak to a manager. The sales people from the shoe department in the surrounding area came over to the shirt department and told us "DOUCEMENT" or "softly", and that "this is France, no problem, it's ok" and I said "Terrible service and attitude is not ok and this is not my problem that you think I'm speaking loudly" to which he said "yes it is your problem" and I said "it's your problem when your colleague is treating customers poorly and upsetting them". We really didn't want to give them our business but we are short on time before the wedding and really needed the goods, so my father set about purchasing. The sales lady asked if the items were a gift, he said no, and she put the shirt directly in the bag. I asked if she could at least WRAP IT IN SOME TISSUE. This was a 150 Euro shirt. We then spoke to a manager who came down after a while and was sympathetic and apologised profusely and listened to what I said, was there anything he could do, did we need anything else, etc etc to which I said no, we're done, we're not returning to your store, your employees are rude and offensive and store employee training needs to improve. He said he'd email his director, though who knows if that'll actually happen, but it was all in all a terrible experience and a shocking indication of CLEAR AND OBVIOUS RACISM. My parents are South Korean and have lived in Sydney, Australia for almost 40 years. I was born there and have lived in the US for the past 15 years. We were dressed well and did not look slovenly/dishevelled/unkempt/unclean. I even said to the manager that this was where I was from and I felt like I'd been treated like I was invisible, second class citizen etc and he said "oh no, this is not why, we have a policy of treating out international clients very well" to which I replied, "well that was not in practise today, and do you think if I looked like the two sales people who I'd spoken to I would have been treated the same way? I don't think so." Horrible, marginalising experience. Never going back.
