Stopped by this cafe-coffee house with the intent of ordering a hot mocha to taste test and compare…read moreit to Contrast Coffee's mocha. Well, we felt over-caffeinated and hungry so plans cha fed and we decided to order lunch instead. After finishing our delicious meal, we ordered dinner to carry out. This cafe is a local gem. Totally different vibe than Contrast Coffee's which was modern, sleek and seemed to attract lots of younger folks. Contrast seemed more to be the place one might choose with just coffee. A sweet treat or something light with coffee. MJC has a very up-north, laid back, comfy feel. It beckons you to grab a table or comfy chair and stay a while. Its vibe might resonate with families, friend groups, seniors, artists and health conscious foodies. The menu offered so many choices: soup, salad, wraps, paninis and pizzas. Many choices in each category, all with the freshest of ingredients, combined creatively, focused on flavor and presented really well for such a casual place. It had a farm-to-table feel. Confident the sauces and dressings were made from scratch. We ordered two wraps and a salad to share and were warned that it might be too much food for two. It definitely would have been. Thankful for this tip. We shared a summer special Mad Hatter panini with chicken, mushrooms and provolone. It was amazing. The mushrooms were perfection. We also shared a Central salad which was so full of delightful add-in like cranberries and cashews. The salad dressing was wonderful. As an after thought, we decided to share a bowl of the soup of the day: chicken and dumplings. So full of chicken, veggies and small dumplings. Delish. We took home a cold club wrap for dinner and the Lynne Lu salad. The dishes were wrapped with such care. We really appreciated the friendly and knowledgeable staff. If we lived here, MJC would be a go-to spot for breakfast and brunch. The homemade desserts looked fabulous. Will need to return on another trip to this area to try them with a mocha which brought us to MJC's

Oh, man. No? Nobody? Just me? Damnit. The silver lining? A wonderful breakfast meal and cheap to boot! Since I realized I'm part idiot (and not the good part), I decided to eat breakfast at my accidental restaurant. Mostly because I was already sitting in the booth and did NOT want to admit defeat. And boy howdy, am I glad I did! I ordered the French toast, eggs, and bacon. Two toasts, two eggs, and about three bacons. And a breakfast Coke (which is normal coke, but in the morning). First off, the eggs. I only eat scrambled eggs because I'm a child. Salt and pepper, then into my mouth. I don't like creamy scrambled eggs and I don't like scrambled eggs that get that weird skin on them for cooking too long. These ones were perfect. I garbled them down. My trick is to heavily salt and pepper them THEN cut them up and mix them together to disperse the seasoning. Eggs 10/10 The French toast? Perfect. Good size slices, a ball of butter on top (thankfully enough to spread over all four triangles), and a ramekin of syrup. They were the perfect portions. The FT (French toast) had the best sponginess and fluffiness. French Toast (FT) 10/10 Finally. The bacon. Look. I am a huss for bacon. I'll do some shady sh** for some good bacon. But I ain't going back to prison. I always ALWAYS request my bacon be floppy. Some places call it limp. I call mine floppy. Because I'm a professional. A lot of places struggle on what floppy should look like. I've had floppy bacon I could put through a plate glass window. I've broken a piece of floppy bacon on a table edge and shanked somebody (see prior prison comment). But here? This place? Sweetie pie, I could tie my shoes with this bacon it's so floppy. I could lasso a baby calf with this floppy a** bacon. If you don't believe me, I attached a photo of what floppy bacon should look like. Professional Floppy Bacon 12/10. I would also like to mention the Coke this place served was top tier. It's like it's chilled prior to coming out the fountain dispenser. It just went down SO smooth. Drink some. Also. It's a medium-quiet place. Family friendly. Has that down home look and feel.

A true diner in every capacity and the portion sizes were HUGE - enough to feed two people for every meal. The food was good as well and we experienced good service. We will definitely be stopping again on our next trip!

We prefer bar service over dining service, seem to be generally more attentive and the two staff work as a team. Brandon is waiting on us. He's friendly and good at customer service. Ordered the whitefish dip, baba Ghanouj, superior whitefish tater tots, tabouli salad, superior whitefish chowder, superior whitefish tacos with black pepper fries and a spicy crispy chicken sandwich and cabbage slaw. $111 They do charge a 4% transparency fund: employee retention, living wages, staff happiness. Written on the bottom of your bill. The dishes are scratch made, in house. Nice! The tabouli is too, has some mixed greens in it. There is something sweet in the dressing or the buckwheat, not my thing at all. Rest of the salad is good though. The baba ghanouj on its own is quite garlicky, slight Smokey flavor to it. It doesn't work with the pita crackers. Not loving this at all. The whitish dip is good. My hubby liked the sweet pickled for watermelon rind garnish, I didn't like them much. The spicy chicken sandwich on the brioche bun is really good. The chicken is super crispy. It's quite good. The whitish tacos are good. The whitefish seems to be blackened, really nicely. The fish is light and perfectly cooked. The whitefish chowder is so good! The tater tots are so delicious. No slouch here. Crunchy and so yummy! Food was so unique and quiet food. The side pepper fries are and slaw ate both a bit blah, compared to the majority of our flavorful meals Service is top notch.

When I have to pay 23.00 for a burger it better be good. With that, I have the give this an 8.5 out of 10. It was truly a very good burger with perfectly seasoned fries cooked to perfection. With reference to the wife's curry all I can say is nothing but positive adjectives to describe what she was eating finalizing with one of the top three Curry Dishes she has ever had. Ambiance was fine. Large Movie screen on wall. Interesting and fitting, you could say trendy. Nothing special, nothing lacking. Service was fine. A three primarily due to price for value but both dish options we tried were above average for taste.
