The food is delicious, the new restaurant is very nice, lots of seating and clean and fresh. The background music is a little loud and blaring, so it makes people talk loud to hear each other, so the atmosphere is a bit chaotic. The young "boy" we had as a waiter didn't know what he was doing at all, he was friendly and smiled, but he did not come to our table hardly at all, we had to flag him down when we needed drinks and we asked for extra napkins, he never brought them, we had to flag him down again. When he finally came at the end of our meal he asked if we needed anything else, so we ordered two flan. We waited and waited and waited some more, we didn't even see him at all, then finally I stood up searched for him, then finally he came asked if everything was alright, we were so worn out from waiting and tracking him down, I just said could we have our check, we paid and hurried out, we were so done, we never got the flan. Wow! This place is amazing!! So happy my husband and I decided to come here for dinner when visiting for the weekend. The place was pretty busy but we still got a spot right away. The ambiance is super cool, lots of wood carvings throughout - on the chairs, tables, walls, etc. The authenticity of the restaurant is real and so vibrant. Our waiter was very nice and pleasant. Went out of his way to ensure we were happy with everything- from food, to drinks to the cleanliness of everything. He was very nice and accommodating. The food was extremely good too. I decided on the shrimp, chicken and beef fajitas that also came with avocado, beans, rice, sour cream and salsa. It was a lot of food!! Stopped in for lunch even though I know better than to have Mexican food outside of Texas. The chips were fine. The "salsa" was basically just tomato sauce. When I asked for something with heat, I was told they charge extra for that salsa. (I've been here before and they haven't charged for the HOT salsa). Decided on the tacos pollo asado but was really disappointed they were absolutely covered in cilantro. Cilantro is one of this ingredients people either love or hate. If the plate is going to be covered in cilantro, the menu should indicate that. The rice tasted fine as did the beans, although the beans appeared to be from a can. The disappointing part was when the waiter left the rice & beans on the table while the kitchen made fresh tacos without the cilantro. Cold beans & rice aren't my favorite. Everything we tried was delicious, but I am going to have to recommend the Philly cheesesteak burrito! I have never seen a Philly cheesesteak burrito on the menu at a Mexican restaurant before, so I decided to give it a try, and it was fantastic. The cheese sauce that covered the burrito was some of the best I have ever had. They also have a really good peach margarita. If you happen to be in the area and you love Mexican food, I recommend that you stop here. read more

Another wonderful meal at Carlos Cantina. Tonight I had the Tres Maria's. Three enchiladas, one cheese, chicken and beef. Each enchilada has its own sauce; verde, red, and cheese. The red sauce is the hero of this plate. One of the most flavorful red enchilada sauces I have had. The verde was mild, and if you have read any of my other reviews, you know I love the queso. The enchiladas are served with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, guacamole, and rice. The chicken enchilada was shredded. I would say this is authentic, but next time, I will ask for the other chicken. It is soooo good. The beef one was ground beef. I was expecting shredded, but this was ok. Overall very pleased with the food selection tonight. The oddest thing about tonight was that I felt rushed, which is usually not the case here. Food was very fast, and hot, but as soon as I seemed to be done, my server removed my plate. Again, not the norm for this restaurant. However, I can appreciate efficiency, so maybe he thought he is doing the right thing. I just like to linger when eating alone. read more

Terrible service, OK food. Ive literally had Mexican food all over the world. This is average. Walked in and the sign said wait to be seated. Ok. There was no one in front of us. Servers kept walking by, there was no one to help us.I looked around and saw dirty tables everywhere. Even at the bar, every space had empty dirty plates. Right in front of us was an empty clean booth. 10 MINUTES LATER... yes, 10, someone finally greeted us. Asked how many people and it was just me and my husband. The only place i saw that was clean was the booth so i asked if we could have the booth. Guy said sure and said it would be a few more minutes. I then watched him go and pick up a spray bottle to clean other tables and then come back and seat us at the booth right in front of us. (Another 5 minutes). Very strange. If you are wondering if its because of social distancing, its not. They dont seem to be practicing that. Also, everyone was wearing masks .. on their chins. If i already wasnt fully vaccinated i would have left. So FYI on that. So after we were sat, it was another 12 minutes before the server came. Yes, we were checking at this point cause it was crazy. He brought us chips and what seemed like bottled salsa. No waters were offered. We ordered everything at once since we didnt know if a server would ever be back. 1 corona, 1 diet coke, beef fajitas, and a ranchero quesadilla. Beer in the bottle came JUST cold. Ehh. Food came really fast. RED FLAG! Food was just OK.. average. Nothing special really. Flavored well tho. Both dishes were really messy to eat. Couldnt find a server if our life depended on it to ask for napkins. Also, additional drinks ($) were not offered at all. I could have used another beer half way through, but their loss i guess.
