The lugnuts were so tight, I couldn't budge them, and I am usually pretty strong and self-sufficient. The owner of Crystal Waters Resort not only pulled over to make sure I was ok, he even loosened the lugnuts for me so I could change my tire. He even waited and blocked off the street so I would be safe while doing so. This type of hospitality helping a stranger, I can only imagine how much above and beyond he would go for his guest. I have a lot of family in the area and visit often, I will be recommending this property to everyone I know. Thank you for your help!

We have dishes, linens...including plush bath towels, outdoor seating and a grill (as do the other cabins from what I have seen). The back porch overlooking the River is my favorite. My son has been able to fish off shore in front of our cabin, from the dock and we took a cruise south in one of the resort boats. Carley & Dan run a clean, organized and family friendly resort and have recommendations for fun activities in the area. This week we plan to fish, rent kayaks and maybe even go rafting.

This place is definitely dog friendly. The cabin was just what we needed. Everything was clean, the beds were comfortable, the A/C kept it cool despite temps in the upper 80s, the kitchen along with the charcoal grill met our dining needs. The only thing that I would have changed is a little more space in the bathroom - it is tiny. Loved waking up and enjoying my morning coffee overlooking the river. We'll definitely come back next time we are in Iron Mountain.

The motel doesn't offer any ice. The breakfast consisted of multiple types of breakfast bars, bagged muffins and juice. The motel was convenient to the snowmobile trail. Parking for snowmobile trailers & trucks would be a little limited. Fuel isn't close by. The owner was friendly and offered two great dinner recommendations. We went with Hardwood Steakhouse and it was great. We would stay here again.

Bob was friendly and efficient with check in. Nicole then took us to our room and showed us around. Room exceeded our expectations. Later Bob and his son came down to make sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. Bob runs the groomer for snowmobile trails from the resort. We have a beautiful view overlooking the frozen snow covered lake michigammie.

My family has been customers of the Michi-Aho resort for over 50 years…read more Different owners put a different emphasis on their time and energy, to build up the business. I've just returned from my most recent visit, and am very impressed and pleased. The current owners, Pat and Judy Hingos, are definitely putting time and effort into building the resort into a great family location. They have remodeled (and plan to do more over the coming months) inside and out. My wife's observation was "you can tell there is a woman's touch here" in reference to the presence of books to read in a basket by the reading light next to the couch, or the ceramic bass salt and pepper shaker holder, or even the presence of a toaster in the kitchenette. Pat admitted he might not have thought a toaster as a kitchen necessity, but Judy got them and made sure they were in each room. We were there to celebrate our 35th anniversary (which is appropriate as I chose the Michi-Aho as our honeymoon motel 35 years ago, but that's another story). We took a day trip to Mackinac Island. Pat shared with me he and Judy celebrated their anniversary at Pictured Rocks, and I think that will make a great trip for another visit. The fishing was a little slow. Over 50 years, I've seen it be slow occasionally. Even for the fishing being slow, I managed to lose the biggest fish I've ever caught (a pike) at the edge of the boat, and land enough fish for a terrific dinner (and could have brought 2-3 meals worth of fish home, if I'd wanted). On a particularly hot day, we went swimming at Bewabic State Park. We planned other activities and could not get it all in. The weekend we arrived was during the Crystal Falls Fungus Fest. When I was on the water, and the fish were not biting, I enjoyed the wildlife, including beavers, deer, and an amazing assortment of birds. I saw a Common Loon, Canadian Geese, ducks, jays, crows, Great Blue Herons, vultures, and of course the Bald Eagle family with their nest just at the water's edge. I managed to see all those birds on one trip down the river. Pat and Judy are building a family vacation destination, and I think they are succeeding. The price of a full week's vacation is extremely affordable. Whether you are an avid fisherman, who wants to launch your boat in the lagoon and get to Peavy Pond to chase your own trophy pike, walleye, or smallmouth (and they have musky roaming around there, too) or you are looking for a family memory, teaching the kids to fish, seeing amazing natural beauty and starting your own 50 years of tradition, this is the place to seek out in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to start your adventure. If you need anything, Pat will make your stay as pleasant as possible.

This year I returned to Kopf's Way Dam Resort for the first time since the Apollo moon landing…read more The Michigamee Resevoir is where I learned to fish. Back then my family camped in tents and we paddled over to Kopf's for bait ... and watching the moon landing. I stayed in a cabin that was modest in every way. Still, Pam made sure it was ready. Team Kopf's deserves kudos. So fifty years since the last time I was here the fishing is different in that the perch were almost completely replaced by rock bass. The walleyes barely made it over 14", yet the smallies were abundant. The camp site I stayed at from way back then was populated by great big RV campers. While I walked in towards the beach, I was attacked by dogs. I was bitten, and though the wound healed in 3 weeks, I was grateful I didn't get rabies. Every fishing boat I saw was equipped with sonar/electronics/electric trolling motors that made each fisherman an underwater/anti-submarine professional. Hence, the changes in fishing. There were flags on boats proclaiming support for those that would align with those choosing to subvert the defense and protection of the constitution. That was beyond disgusting.

Pictured rocks and Marquette are a short drive away, but my kids would have been happy just staying there too. We are already trying to plan a trip to come back again.

Let's start with a fully-furnished house. Add lawn and snow removal service. A generator if the power goes out. Excellent WIFI. A quiet lake with views and everything you need to enjoy it like a fire pit, grill and kayaks. A location that's convenient to so many UP attractions. But mostly it's Jeff and Angie and their customer service mindset. They personally answer every call and text and respond immediately. All the cottages are meticulously maintained and upgraded. It's a great place to stay whether you are here for work, fun, or both.
