7/31/21: Warmly welcomed by Susan at the door, we were glad to finally make it back to PMV after too many months away! Katie was our TRA and boy was she friendly!! (in the best way)! She gave us a tasting of the club selection Rose and let us swap out for the Viognier. She is super sweet and friendly! We came to take advantage of low 80 degree temps at the end of July in the Old Dominion. We also had a wine shipment so we figured we'd kill two birds. Excuse us but we have a glass to sit and sip. We'll be back soon!

Espresso Stout

We stopped in to try cider, beer and wine and the place is gorgeous inside! E had high hopes but as they say "you can't be good at any one thing if you try to do everything". This mantra is true here as we tried a red and white wine flight, cider flight and all of the brews on tap between the 4 of us and did not really enjoy any of them besides the espresso stout. They had live music of a guitarist and violinist/pianist and they were so wonderful to hear. The service at the brewery pub side was excellent as she let us try all 5 or so beers on tap before we decided on the stout. Maybe we'll try them again in some time. Good parking and tons of sitting areas inside for privacy or groups.

On our way out of the area we spotted the Prince Michel. While it wasn't impressive on the exterior, it seemed like a fun last stop. We were right. Here you can have your wine tasting or your cider flight or your beer flight - we opted for all of the above because nothing is worth doing half way and momma didn't raise no fool or something else to justify the splurge. The ladies from the Prince Michel team were very friendly and upbeat, which made it for for us and they answered my questions regarding the beer and cider tasting. It was very good and we moved on to the wine tasting area. There's a nice selection of wine so we ordered ours and sat in the comfy seats in front of the tasting area. They also have a wide (and kinda crazy) variety of things for you to buy as well. We didn't indulge, but we ran into an 80 year old gentleman (club member) celebrating his birthday so we bought him a bottle of wine (enjoy, Sir!). The wine was delicious and the team members in the wine area were just as great. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I just about wished I could have spent some time there sipping more wine. Prince Michel is definitely awesome and I'd love to return some time!

They go above and beyond in more than just their customer service. You really feel valued here. We met some family and friends (it was a good halfway point for us all), and not only was everything delicious and the atmosphere was so welcoming, but I was impressed that the bottled water was complimentary (I've never seen that before!) and the CEO came to our table to personally thank us for being there, gifting us some beautiful waxed Amaryllis bulbs! I was so impressed that we bought extra wine and plan to spread the word and return.

Peach, sangria, cotton candy, piña colada

Prince Michel has a lot going for it - tons of outdoor seating, wine, beer, slushees and food. Plus the Saturday we stopped by, they had a musician playing about 10 feet apart from anyone in the crowd. We got some snacks, a wine slushee, a blue raspberry cider and grabbed a seat outside. It was a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon! I had the wine slushees and they were good but the peach one was the best (others were sangria, cotton candy and piña colada). One thing I will say is it was a pretty busy place and while most were wearing masks, not all. They have indoor seating too and you can be eating/drinking at a table which is tricky when you have to walk by them to order at the bar. They should have better ordering protocols in place to avoid everyone crowding up at the bar. The seats outside were spaced pretty well apart but the people walking past to order inside weren't always spaced apart or wearing masks, which ruined the experience a bit.

They have a nice, open seating area with plenty of covered space. I highly recommend bringing your own snacks or food because there aren't many food options. This place is definitely pet-friendly, too. We saw many happy puppies running around and enjoying the day. As for the drinks, they offer standard flights, glasses, and bottles. We tried the XoXo, Gold Label, and a few of their red and white wines. Some of them had impressive flavors, although I think there is still room for improvement. The service was good, and the staff were friendly. However, my biggest issue and especially for the men, is that they only have one men's restroom. I honestly don't understand the concept. With so many visitors, they definitely need more restrooms for men. Otherwise, they might end up with some very unhappy customers! Overall, the atmosphere was relaxing, and it was nice to sit outside and enjoy the calm breeze. I would suggest turning the music down a little so people can enjoy some conversation. And, sorry to say, but the band wasn't exactly my favorite.

We went for quick beer flights and food. The staff was engaged and made sure we got our food reasonably quickly as they understood we were hungry. I was trying to find a favorite beer, but unfortunately, I liked them all, haha. We couldn't tell if the food tasted good or if we were influenced by our long hike, but we ate all of it quickly. The tall ceiling made the place look expansive. It's a bit of a drive for me to come back just for it, but if I'm ever on the way, I'm definitely stopping by for the beers.

Prior to…read moremoving (most reluctantly) back to DC from living in California for 15 years, I had access to some of the best wines in the country. The wineries in the DMV area are generally lovely. But the wines? Well, they can sometimes leave little to be desired. It was such a pleasant surprise to visit this spot and find such high quality wines. I came here with my family, which included my partner and 2 young kids. Wineries can be a little boring for kids but there is so much to entertain the younger ones. First, there is a nice store that has a wide range of toys. And on the weekend we visited, there was a live band that completely captivated them. My partner and I decided to do the wine tasting with 8 pours. He went with the white and I selected the reds so we could try all of the pours. The Cabernet Franc was fantastic, which is one of the varietals that flourishes in Virginia. With that said, I think this was one of the best I've had in the region. My partner reluctantly tasted the Pino Grio, a lower grade wine he typically skips. To his surprise, this was his favorite on the menu with its dry profile and smooth finish. Finally, we enjoyed that this spot had a self-guided tour where you can go at your own pace and read about the winery process. Taking any winery tour with kids is such a challenge these days. So this was a great option to tag team and where we could both explore separately while one of us watched the kids. We'll be back!

I enjoyed the Governor's Flight, and from the first pour, I knew this place was special. The wines were beautifully crafted, the presentation charming and eclectic, with each tasting served in unique vintage glassware that somehow feels elegant, fun, and completely unpretentious. The standout for me was the Village Estate Reserve. The aromatics immediately pulled me in, and the palate just kept evolving -- balanced, expressive, smooth, and revealing new layers of flavor with every sip. One of those wines that makes you stop mid-conversation just to appreciate what's happening in your glass. Beyond the wine, the owners are gracious, the grounds are beautiful, and yes... they welcome furry companions, which earns bonus points from me and the boys. Add in the stunning locally crafted furniture and thoughtful décor, and the entire experience feels warm, curated, and authentic. If you're near Culpeper, Charlottesville, or simply looking for a beautiful Virginia wine experience, Revalation is an absolute hidden gem. Highly recommend.

Wow.. I thought I posted my review a while ago but I don't see it here... so, here goes again…read more WAR Craft Brewery is the bomb! Brad does such an amazing job on his brews. I think he is one of the best home brewers I've tried yet. There is no funny after taste to his beers. He started making his own alcohol and is just waiting for the all ducks to get in a row so he can sell it. He did make his own white and red wines and I have to say his White wine rates up there as one of the BEST Chardonnays I have EVER had- he somehow got the best of oak and steel barrels in this formula. Otherwise they sell some Rapidan Winery wines; good product, but, if its' not his, I'll stick with my Commissar and Toasted Marshmallow syrup. That's the other thing... who ever would have thought to add flavored syrups to brews!!!?? Genius. His ciders are also really great too. the Aloha is the best one. As for the food, its light fare, but man is it awesome. Amanda, Brad's wife and her mom kick out the best Pimento Cheese dip around! They also started doing charcuterie boards and have crafted some very creative ones at that. The ambiance is one a Vet can appreciate. It is a small building, but there is lots of land and outside seating as well. There is a fire pit and they have lawn games people can play while there. Dogs are welcome! And often they will do a Pup of the week and post it on their FB page. We love supporting Brad and Amanda and recommend it as the go to craft brewery when you come to the area. From the moment we arrived, I was completely blown away. As we parked and walked toward the field--with gazebos and a dock with seating--I immediately noticed how kid-friendly the vineyard is. The playground setup was incredibly creative and perfect for sparking a child's imagination. I honestly wish I had known ahead of time because I would have brought my little one! The property itself is beautiful and very well maintained. There were horses roaming around, which added such a peaceful charm. As we explored, I kept noticing thoughtful and unique touches everywhere--from a stunning wine tree to large decorative clay pots, and even buildings designed to resemble a Greek town that house classic cars. It all made the experience feel extra special. There was a wedding taking place, so part of the property was closed off, but it was easy to see how perfect this venue would be for an intimate "I do." Inside the main building, they offered a great selection of food, an impressive wine list available by the glass, bottle, or flight, and hands down the best wine slush I've ever had. My only critique is that it seemed like the AC wasn't working inside, and I really felt for the bartenders who were working so hard as it got busier throughout the day. Overall, I absolutely loved this place. It's one of the few spots that truly caters to both adults and children, and I'll definitely be back.
