    Stone Mountain Vineyard

My brother and sister-in-law have membership in this vineyard. It is two hours from Alexandria, Virginia. Nestled in the Shenandoah Valley, the ride alone is worth the trip in the fall. We got to enjoy the annual members party throne by the Stonewall Vineyard yearly. Live music was fabulous. Really enjoyed the dancing. Wine tasting all day. They barbequed a pig and served with all the trimmings. Absolutely delicious!!! The staff was accomodating in every way. The Petit Verdot was one of my favorites.

Stone Mountain Vineyards is a true hidden gem! Great views, wine, and friendly owners! What more could you ask for!? If you haven't made the trip I cannot recommend enough. Kick in the four wheel drive and get yourself here!

Getting here is an adventure. This winery sits on top of what feels like a literal mountain in the Shenandoah. If you plan on going here, just know and plan to make sure that your vehicle can get up steep hills, round curves with steep ledges and no barriers, etc. The winery itself is great. Very nice people and staff. The wines are very good as well. The only food option they have are charcuterie and cheese boards. The views were absolutely stunning overlooking the valley (probably the best view I've ever seen at any Virginia winery). 4 stars only because getting into the winery could be tough for some others that are not equipped with the right vehicle.

There's very little better in this world than drinking delicious wines while taking in fantastic views of vineyards & countryside, just watching the world go by. Or sitting next to a roaring fire inside a log cabin and sipping on those same. You've got the option for both here. Absolutely gorgeous vistas of Virginia's wine country. Goes without saying. Wine flight or two is the move. Then pivot to a full bottle and enjoy. Everything in their white wine flight was phenomenal. PS - Good luck on the drive up. AWD + higher clearance vehicle is a necessity. Unless you just like to color outside the lines

By far the most beautiful winery we have ever been to. The views are breathtaking! The ride up there was a little scary at times, but by far worth it. The staff was kind and wine was very good. Highly recommend visiting!

STUNNING! I have been wanting to come visit since we moved to RVA in March. My mom came to visit so i decided this would be a great time for a visit. AMAZING Views, Super fun drive up the mountain to the vineyards, Adorable boxer puppies greeted us as we walked in :), Wine slushies and Wine flights, New Deck with mountain views and fresh mountain air, we had a wonderful time. One thing I would comment on - My mom and I are short women so when we were sitting at tables we could not see the mountains over the railings. I wish there was bar height seating to take in the views while seated :) Will definitely be backwith my husband next time!

This was the best view in the Shenandoah. So many reviews talked about the scary road to get there so I made sure to include photos - I found the ride there fun and part of the experience but wanted to include photos - I only passed one car and was at a curve with a pull-off. I cannot wait to go back!

This is our second time here and I love it each time! Absolutely obsessed with the view here. The wines are great too, obviously. I would've gotten married here if it's closer to DC and if the drive up and down the mountain isn't so scary (I sweat each time on the road to and from there!!) But always worth it, of course. Fantastic experience each time!

This was our first visit to Stone Mountain, and we were not disappointed. Four 3-oz. pours were offered as a flight for $18. When we visited on July 25th, we were treated to live music while we sat on the deck. Very nice wines & an unbeatable view = 4 stars.

Thank you fellow Yelpers that i read reviews before deciding which vineyard we were going to visit during our cousins weekend in Gordonsville. Please do not be scared away from the reviews regarding the drive up the mountain to get to the vineyard. Yes, it is a one lane dirt road with winding turns, what i recommend is that you DO NOT DRIVE UP THERE WITH A SEDAN... A SMALL SUV OR ANY SUV IS A MUST. We had a rental .... a Ford Excursion... yes the "bus", and we got up there without a hitch. there are two turns on the road that would be challenging if two vehicles are meeting up(coming up and down at the same time.... but that's it... just go slow. It is worth the drive, the Views from the top while sipping some delicious wine, is BREATHTAKING!. The staff... super friendly.... we ordered pizzas and a cheese platter... the pizza was actually very good. You can bring your own picnic and your dogs..... A MUST GO!!!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED

A group of three of us visited Stone Mountain Vineyards this past Sunday (5-14-2017). I followed the recommendation on their web site - of NOT attempting to input the address into my GPS or any Maps apps. The road up the mountain - is as others have stated - narrow and steep in places - and you need to pay careful attention to driving - as there are some steep drop offs with no guard rail. If you encounter a vehicle coming the other direction - there are some sections where backing up to find a place to allow the other vehicle to pass would be extremely difficult and challenging. We encountered this very scenario on our way down the mountain. Fortunately, the other car was very close to a wide spot and so he backed down a bit and pulled in to it - to allow my full size Ford F-150 4x4 to pass by. The tasting room is gorgeous! Lots of hardwoods and lots of space to sit and hang out! Upon entering the building - we were immediately greeted by Chance - a cute, friendly winery dog! We also met the owners who chatted with us and gave us a lot of background and history on the winery and the area. Very nice folks! We first did the entire wine tasting - then purchased a bottle of the Cab Franc to take out on the deck and enjoy with a picnic lunch we had brought. We asked first if it was permissible to bring our own food in - they told us no problem. While out on the deck, Chance visited constantly in order to inspect the area around our table for any food particles that had fallen, and then of course instantly hoover them into his bottomless gullet! The views from the deck were beautiful! At 1,780 feet above sea level - Stone Mountain is the second highest winery in Virginia - according to Jim - one of the owners. I will return some time soon! Fun place, some enjoyable wines, and amazing views. Need to get someone else to drive next time! #StoneMountainVineyards

While there was a thick layer of fog completely concealing the wonderful view that brought us here in the first place, I loved y experience here. The inside is socially distanced with a bunch of tables scattered around a beautiful wood-labeled interior. There was live music and the wines were delicious. They all had unique flavors with a common sweet and caramel undertone. Would love to visit again when the weather is better ;)

Snow may have covered the ground, but between the stunning aesthetic, incredible wine, and delicious food, I am officially SOLD. This spot has earned a place in my top 5 wineries! From the moment we arrived, the hostess and waitstaff were attentive, welcoming, and full of recommendations. I went with a wine flight (because variety is a must!), and every pour was a hit. As for the food? We indulged in pasta, sliders, short-rib grilled cheese, truffle fries, and a charcuterie board everything was absolutely mouthwatering. We ate, we sipped, and we were very merry! We particularly favored the cannon red and the Cabernet franc. Our food was excellent; a the dishes they were served upon were lovely! My hubby got the roasted Brussels sprouts, my daughter chose the tomato basil soup, and we all shared a well designed charcuterie board! We left nary a morsel behind! The manager was so kind and generous, asking us to return and sharing the best times to come! He gave us some background information on the area and gave us a mini tour!
