Each group was socially distanced outside with Adirondack chairs (made from old wine barrels). The tasting started with generous pours in really cute crystal glasses. The scenery is beautiful. All of the wines were drinkable and a few were quite good. You see the vineyards and mountains in the background. The owner even stopped by our group for a chat. She mentioned that their winemaker came from King Family, one of my favorites in Virginia.

This place was so cute and had a great view of the mountains. The owner was super friendly and chatted to us about the area. We did stop on a Monday and were the only ones there. They do require reservations on most days, though we did call ahead and asked if we could drop in which they said yes! Wine is dry and fantastic. If you aren't a dry wine drinker this may not be your place, though I think you may still like one or two of their options.

Such a beautiful find out in Madison County. Found this thanks to their mention on the Getaway House DC site. If you're driving west from DC on Rte 29 and see the sign for Revalation, definitely make time for it! They're apparently planning to build a much larger space; right now it's an adorable small house with 13 distanced outdoor tables. Really enjoyed the wine and got a bottle of the Mélange a Quatre (2017) to bring home.

An absolutely delightful experience. The setting is lovely with socially distanced groupings of Adirondack chairs (made from old wine barrels) giving a refreshing view of vineyards and mountains. More importantly, the wines offered for tasting atypically good for US wineries. The wines are generous pours (for a tasting) served in decorative glass/crystal glasses, making for a nice presentation. And the tasting notes provide perhaps excessive details about what you might smell, taste, and feel. My only criticism might be that the decorative glassware they use makes it nearly impossible to pretensioulsy swirl your wine. While making her rounds the owner stopped by our group for a chat and mentioned her winemaker came from King Family. That immediately explained the superior quality of what they served. During our stay in the area we also stopped at Early Mountain and DuCard. I'm posting separate reviews for these places and can save you the trip to them, the wineries or reviews, go here and avoid there.

Revalation has a very cozy tasting room and darn good wine. It's not far from several other wineries, so you can easily make this part of a day trip. I even had the good fortune of speaking with the co-owners, who were pouring for their opening weekend. The winery has 7 acres (the vineyard is a few miles away) and all their wines are 100% estate. They have your usual assortment of Cab Franc, Chardonnay, Viognier, but they also have some Tannat (which is bottled but likely won't be ready till 2019 at the earliest) and Cabernet Sauvignon (which is currently on the tasting menu). Their wine maker is Matthieu Finot, who makes wine for King Family and also won the prestigious Governor's Cup in 2018. Estate grapes + great wine maker + cute tasting room = a great place to visit. I had a long chat with the co-owners (he's from Northern Ireland, she's from Belgium, both are former academics), who are in theory 'retired' but decided to open a winery anyway. The tasting building is a TINY log cabin; the fire gave it a warm vibe but it's not a place for parties. Fortunately they have a patio and chairs for sipping outside. I wouldn't recommend this place for large groups, but if you like intimate surroundings you'd definitely want to visit. What I tried: 2016 Vidal Blanc: Semi-sweet, but only barely (it's more the grape you taste than actual sugar). Melange de blanc: Blend of mostly Viognier and other whites. I don't often like Viongier but really enjoyed the complexity here. 2016 Quatre Blancs: White blend heavy on Petit Manseng, some Sauv Blanc and Pinot Gris. HIGH acidity. I had a hard time if I liked this more than the Melange; both were good. 2016 Rouge Red: Mostly Cab Sauv but some Cab Franc. Made in a light, Beaujolais style. 2015 Village (100% Cabernet Sauvignon): Fruit forward, plumb notes, low on tannins. Not a steak wine but I bet it would be good with pork or lamb. Bought a bottle (although mom will probably get it).

We spent the weekend at Getaway to go hiking and Revelation was highly recommended and it didn't disappoint. The view was absolutely beautiful, the staff were so kind and helpful and the food and wine were perfect. My partner kept saying how he felt like we weren't in the US but like the country side of Italy. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Shenandoah. Definitely worth the stop.

Today was our second trip to Revalation Vineyards. We were enthralled today as the first trip and on this trip we had the opportunity to enjoy Revalation's beauty with two dear friends. There is not much indoor space to this venue, it is all about the rustic charm of the relocated log cabin and the breathtakingly beautiful views of the blue ridge mountains. The owners are from Belgium and Ireland and bring their own unique touch to a Virginia winery. The grounds are dotted with a socially distanced grouping of barrel stave Adirondack chairs and tables seated around fire pits and tables for four that is cast iron and wood with swing-out stools. Today we had the privilege of being served by Tiffany. Tiffany was the perfect hostess for our birthday celebration with friends we have not been able to get together with for 1 1/2 years! Three hours blew by (and not just because of the substantial wind!) as we caught up over our different wine choices. A bottle of Merlot for our friends, a white flight for my wife, and a red for me. As Tiffany seated us she offered to help us with the food we were carrying in and didn't bother showing us their food menus - but went straight to the wine. She checked in with us enough to know we were cared for but not too much as to be intrusive, though she would've been a welcome guest at our table if she didn't have to be serving others. One thing that sets Revalation apart from all the others is their glasses. They serve their flights and glasses in an eclectic mix of vintage glasses that are brought to you in a metal tub. So cute, beautiful and fun. And the views. This is the living postcard for Virginia's Blue Ridge mountains.

After driving on Rt29 and seeing the signs for this new winery many times, we were given the opportunity to stop in on a beautiful Saturday. They were rather busy when we got there, but were immediately greeted. We chose to split a single tasting between the two of us, something we usually do, but definitey wanted to do as they charge wayyy too much for their tasting here (considering this isn't the best wine VA has to offer) at $15 per person. Their wines were decent, nothing spectacular, nothing I found to bring home, and definitely nothing that's worth the very high prices they charge for their wines. But I can see coming back to by a cheap bottle and sit & sip and enjoy the beauty of their patio. The lady giving us our tasting told us that the owners here have been growing grapes since 2006, which is quite impressive, as they have been around since well before the VA wine popularity spike, but the wines we tasted didn't seem to impress us as others with the similarly aged vines has. Also, she told us the winemaker is the same as from another very popular and amazing Central VA winery, one that does a really nice job with reds (specifically Meritage)... but the notes we tasted didn't remind us of that. The one thing we found incredible was their tasting room... It's beautiful!!! It's an 1830's log cabin which was taken down and transported here and rebuilt and they did an amazing job with it... great attention to detail!! (timberframing and wine just happen to be two things we're extremely familiar with) Great job with their welding skills and their uses of rebar too! Again, we'd return to enjoy the beauty of the building!

Beautiful scenery, delicious wine and wonderful service! We stopped by for a tasting on the way to another vineyard and wish we stayed longer. Highly recommend a visit!

It was my third time doing it but the first time for most of them. All of us were blown away from start to finish. They are so incredibly accommodating and all of the wines were exceptional. The food menu is just as fantastic as their wines. Grab lunch while you're there! The new elevation tasting format is wonderful. They pair small bites with each wine in the tasting. It's a beautiful setting, well maintained, and feels more like a destination than just a winery. Inside, the tasting room is clean, modern, and comfortable. They've also got private rooms and event spaces, and you can tell this place is set up well for weddings and group events. The outdoor patio is a great spot too, especially with the views, and it's dog-friendly, which was nice to see. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and everything moved along smoothly. We ordered two wine flights, a cheese plate (added salmon), and two half-baguettes (basically one full). The food was good and nicely presented, no complaints there. That said, at about $180 total after tip, it felt a little pricey for what we got--especially the cheese plate, which was on the lighter side for the cost. The wine was enjoyable, just didn't quite stand out for us personally. With how nice everything else is, it feels like it has the potential to really shine. The outdoor experience was a little mixed. There were quite a few bees around, and while they weren't aggressive, they were definitely a nuisance, and it was enough that a couple nearby tables moved inside because they couldn't really relax. Also, deliveries and service activity happen within view of the patio, which takes away a bit from the otherwise nice setting. Overall, it's definitely worth the visit. The property is beautiful, the setup is impressive, and it's an easy place to spend a relaxed afternoon. It feels really close to being something special.

The wineries in the DMV area are generally lovely. But the wines? Well, they can sometimes leave little to be desired. It was such a pleasant surprise to visit this spot and find such high quality wines. I came here with my family, which included my partner and 2 young kids. Wineries can be a little boring for kids but there is so much to entertain the younger ones. First, there is a nice store that has a wide range of toys. And on the weekend we visited, there was a live band that completely captivated them. My partner and I decided to do the wine tasting with 8 pours. He went with the white and I selected the reds so we could try all of the pours. The Cabernet Franc was fantastic, which is one of the varietals that flourishes in Virginia. With that said, I think this was one of the best I've had in the region. My partner reluctantly tasted the Pino Grio, a lower grade wine he typically skips. To his surprise, this was his favorite on the menu with its dry profile and smooth finish. Finally, we enjoyed that this spot had a self-guided tour where you can go at your own pace and read about the winery process. Taking any winery tour with kids is such a challenge these days. So this was a great option to tag team and where we could both explore separately while one of us watched the kids. We'll be back!
