My bestie and I visited here on a Saturday - July 12th around 4pm for a very late lunch. They had a pretty good crowd setting up on the inside, looked like a big birthday party was happening soon! We chose to sit out on the patio, hoping to find a good table so we could enjoy Lake Ray Hubbard and weren't disappointed. We sat right next to the railing and enjoyed the view while we chatted away, catching up on things. Our server, Ross was polite, friendly & punctual, no complaints there. We both ordered the shrimp al Mesquite $25, with sodas and a side of guacamole. I would have loved an 'adult beverage', ha but I was going in to work. They have a full bar just inside and there were a few people there. The Shrimp Al Mesquite was so good! We're talking 6 large shrimp atop a cheese-topped bed of rice. The shrimp was very fresh and cooked perfectly and so was the rice. I opted for charro beans - so good. The chips and salsa were good. I usually try to skip them these days but I was hungry and they were fresh and crunchy! I can't wait to go back in the evening and really enjoy the ambiance. Like most patios, they do have birds looking for treats - just don't feed them and they'll leave you alone, lol.

Food is great. But your chips are stale. Warm them up or something. Salsa could not overcome stale chips. Chips are not primo

Food is OK but you can get way better quality food somewhere else. The view is quite lovely though.

As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted, seated and brought chips and salsa which I devoured. For starters, we had the guacamole salad and queso. We had to stop eating the queso and guacamole to save room for the main course because it was that good. My wife ordered the ground beef and shredded chicken enchiladas with all the fixings. They were very good with the red sauce and Spanish rice. The beef had a very good seasoning and the chicken had a taste like it had been marinated for a few hours. I had the beef fajitas. The beef was tender, succulent and seasoned well. The only thing that I didn't like was that the fajitas had a sweet taste to it. I believe the sweet taste was from sweet bell peppers or sweet onions, nevertheless, it was too sweet for my taste buds. We enjoyed ourselves, enjoyed the margaritas and the starters, but next time, I'll try some shrimp nachos. I give Ernesto's Mexican Restaurant three out of five drinks. Cheers!

We were very pleasantly surprised. It's even better in my opinion. The people are very warm and friendly. The food is really delicious. I love that they bring not only good salsa with their fresh hot chips, but also a tomatillo sauce and a black bean dip. We've now eaten there several times. The taco meat has a nicely charred flavor. The tamales were very good. (I'm picky about my tamales. I've tried their ranchero sauce, chili con carne, and sour cream sauce. None of them disappoint. Their rice isn't dry like it is at many other Tex-Mex places. And their $5.00 all day frozen margaritas are worth it. We usually go for the lunch specials that run until 4:00. They don't have mole on the menu, yet. I'm looking forward to their future specials. In this day and age where it's hard to keep a restaurant open, I really hope this one survives. It's not fancy, but the food and service make it worth it. And I'm a picky person when it comes to spending money on food I don't make myself.

The poblano sauce was creamy cheesy and delicious. There was a nice spiced shredded chicken super tasty. Overall a fantastic restaurant with great service too !

There was a 45-minute wait, due to how many people were crammed into downtown, trying to find places to eat. I had wanted to come here for a while, and suggested coming here to my girlfriend, who admittedly, "doesn't like Tex-Mex" (I know, I know), and after encouraging her to give it a try, we were pleasantly treated to some very high quality food in a nice environment. Despite being woefully understaffed, to the point that they were out of bowls for the salsa and started serving it in to-go containers, the staff was friendly and helpful, with the manager still making the rounds to introduce himself and check on people's experiences. I really liked the chips & salsa, and so did my girlfriend who is very spice sensitive. We had the, "Julio's Tilapia", which was, "Pan-seared tilapia topped with fresh sautéed baby spinach and jumbo grilled shrimp, finished with a silky spicy chipotle cream sauce. Served with rice and a crisp side salad." and the "GUIS-Ohhhhhh!", which was, "Traditional Mexican beef stew. Served with avocado slices, tomatoes, lettuce, & tortillas". The food was delicious, and I really thought the jumbo shrimp was great, and the Guisoooo (carne guisada) was deeply flavored, and very rich in a way I haven't had before. My girlfriend made sure to flag down the manager to point out what an exceptional meal she thought it was, and mentioned several times how blown away she was, and I quote her as saying, "I was expecting one thing, but I did not expect a foodie experience!". We sat at the bar area, which while not large, has taller tables which is helpful for me. The restaurant handled the huge volume of people well, and the food quality was great. I will return whenever an opportunity presents itself

We also ordered a cup of Queso Blanco - they say it was blanco but it didn't look white to me. ‍ I ordered it the appetizer Brochette Shrimp for my entree and this is where the magic happened - this dish was amazing. Veggies well caramelized, bacon crispy - these shrimp were perfection! I will dream of these shrimp and will absolutely return to have them again.
