GOOD RESTAURANT CLOSE TO FORT DRUM ==================================== We were flying out of Syracuse in the afternoon and met my son for lunch as he was nearby working at Fort Drum. You can tell the service people and others like this place because it's close to the base. I got a tostada with chicken. I wasn't really thrilled with the chicken, but I ate everything else. My husband liked his shredded beef burrito. My son liked his burrito as well. This business is owned by an Army veteran too which is nice. read more

Kind of disappointed. I've been going for years, and slowly things have gotten worse. Went in for dinner on Tuesday, right around 6:00. I honestly didn't know if they were open at first because there was no one there. Went inside and was seated. There was one other table of people eating and no one else in the dining area. Also another table completely covered and not bussed. We waited for 15 minutes after being seated before anyone even came to the table to ask about drinks. Took our drink and appetizer order. 5 minutes later, server returns with no drinks and lets us know that neither options for appetizers were available. Needless to say, we left. read more

We have been visiting the Tico's restaurant in CHAUMONT. The owners own this restaurant as well and offer up in Italian cuisine as well. My friend ordered the chicken Parm and I ordered a seafood pasta dish. Wanted to try the Italian side since we know they're Mexican. Food is five star. We were not disappointed great flavors good food. The spaghetti was done properly and the sauce was not too sweet. Plenty of shrimp and scallops. I would recommend this place and most likely will visit them again. I will say, though that the Mexican Tico's in CHAUMONT is still my favorite. The shrimp tequila is to die for. I'm in town for work and I stopped by for lunch. I got the ground beef burrito supreme, which had great flavor and the toppings were fresh. It even came with chips and salsa included for under $10! The gentleman that took my order was also very nice and hospitable. I'll be back! read more

Placed a pickup order. Only two items that were ridiculously overpriced for what they were. My husband picked up the order while I was on the phone, and the worker he spoke with was extremely verbally abusive to him, ignorant, and rude. He was confused about our order and then blamed my husband for the mistake. Only after several minutes did he realize he was wrong and get our order. The following week I decided to make my own tacos birria at home in the instant pot. They were 4x as good and the ingredients cost me 1/3 of the price. But by all means if you want to be overcharged for mediocre food and treated poorly, then order here. read more

Walked in for a late lunch. None of the tables had been bussed from earlier in the day. The place was absolutely trashed. Waited for about 10 minutes to be seated, which was kind of weird because we were the only ones in there. The food was mediocre at best. The kicker though was the GIANT RAT we encountered behind the counter on our way out. Won't be returning. read more

Granted, we had a large group. But we waited for 2.5 hours before getting our food. I got some tacos and flan. The flan was delicious! Probably the only redeeming quality about this place. I found a fly in my taco, which absolutely ruined my appetite. When I told the waitress. She replied "well.. it is north country." stellar. response. never going there again. read more

I have vowed to no longer go back. Food is good but owner lacks basic customer service skills. I took a friend for lunch who just got to the area. He asked the owner if he had any munch specials and he completely went bizerk. He proceeded with, "I don't know why people keep asking for the lunch special, we don't do that." Like bro if people keep asking why not offer it. I ordered the lunch steer tacos (not a special) and asked for just the tacos no sides, he charged me more than what it would've cost with the sides. I mean at least let me know it's going to be more. Decent food, horrible attitude. read more

This is usually one of my favorite stops,but Saturday evening was a different experience. It was a warm day so I decided to forgo my usual entree and ordered the taco salad. Huge mistake, and major disapointment. The taco bowl was beautiful, but it all stopped there. The bowl was about half full of ingredients, most of it being diced wilted lettuce. I'd ordered shredded beef for the meat, and there may have been a tablespoon full of meat but not much more. Several little pieces of diced tomato,and a dollop each of soft cheese and guacamole. With the price being 12+ dollars,I left feeling really ripped off. My wife's Italian entree looked good, and we will no doubt go back again,but I'll sure as heck pass on the taco salad. read more

This review is for their pastries and desserts. We have only ever eaten in the Mexican section which has some pretty good food. The owner is nice too and the complimentary chips are a traditional touch. The only problem we have here is that their waitress is always sick. She coughs all over the place and we've watched her holding plates while coughing over her shoulder. It is worrisome especially when we hear her coughing in the kitchen, I'm sure she's added her own seasonings to our meals. Usually after we eat at Tico's, one of us falls ill with a cold which is why we have not come here in a while. Maybe they should consider hiring more staff so the poor woman can take a day and rejuvenate her health. read more

Absolute GARBAGE food & service. Should've known better when arriving at noon with no other customers. No table service, order food at the register, pay in advance & the miserable cerote brings it to your table. Chips served in a brown lunch bag. All around the worst! Stay away! Wasted over 1 1/2 hours for our food, waitress said they had lots of orders ahead of ours, we dined In, 1 of 3 other tables. Dine in should have priority over takeout. The food was microwaved, guacamole was watered down and tasted tangy, the shrimp tacos were not what you would expect for the prices they charge, 3 shrimp, barley anything else, the enchiladas were rubber and we didn't get any of the add-ons we ordered, but We were charged for them. Over 100.000 later and still hungry and tired, this isn't a restaurant I could recommend for good service or good quality of food. read more

Okay, I admit we haven't eaten here until now because I was skeptical that one place could do justice to Italian and Mexican food. The owner explained to us how they bought all of Primo's recipes when they bought the building. The free chips and salsa set things off on a good start. We love bruschetta so we ordered Tico's. A good tip is to order it without the cheese topping. It was fantastic. I ordered the shrimp fajitas. They came out on a sizzle platter hot and delicious. My wife ordered the chicken parmesan and it too was tasty. Just when we thought we were stuffed, we gave into the temptation of a freshly baked cannoli cheesecake. Oooh, yeah. If you're coming to Tico's, remember that the food is prepared fresh and can take little time. read more

So, as I'm reading through these reviews, I felt the need to seriously back this place up. I think the ppl who are giving this place negative reviews have never had real Authentic Mexican food. Being from Texas and having in laws that live across the border and actually going to to Mexico to eat, I feel that I can say that I know what real Mexican food is. This place is legit. Pricey, but you get what you pay for people. It's a sit down restaurant so if you expect to get your food super fast and you want to eat shit then don't go here. Missing Mexican food from ACTUAL Mexico, I think I can say that I found my go to place!!! The family who owns it is super friendly as well! Had a 30 minute conversation with him. Now all he needs to get is the barbacoa ;-)!!! Haven't tried the Italian menu, but when I get tired of munching in Mexican food then I will! read more

I tried to give them another chance after having awful service and food the last time, but I will never return after waiting 45 minutes for cold tacos that tasted and smelled like dog food. I live not even five minutes down the road, and literally they didn't even try to warm up the meat before shoving them into my tacos and enchiladaS. Didn't think you could mess up the all beef special, but you surprised me once again. read more

Our business specializes in two different cuisines Mexican and Italian. That is why we consider ourselves MexItaly - the only one around this part of the North Country. We have been in business as Tico's Mex Mex Grill for over 8 yrs and in September of last year, we took up the challenge of this new menu. With a few minor glitches at the beginning, like any other business, we overcame them and continue to enjoy cooking for our customers. We have been told many times by our costumers how they feel "right at home" and I guess that is a specialty too. To make you feel welcomed and at home. And enjoy a fresh homemade style meal is a plus! You can also find us under Primos de Tico's on Facebook! You'll be able to see many reviews and pictures of our dishes. History

Established in 2008.

We were established on September 19, 2008 as Tico's Mex Mex Grill at The Square in Watertown, NY. While my husband was deployed, my mother-in-law and I decided to risk our retirement and embarked in this adventure. We found ourselves doing what we love, cooking. When my husband retired in 2009, he was quick to catch on and we have worked side by side ever since. When we moved into our new location on September 2016, we acquired an Italian menu. One of my favorite Holiday ambiance's I had the pleasure of enjoying this season! The Holiday Ornament Martini was presented in a decorative ornament bedazzled with gold sugar. The pomegranate flavor was as lovely as the presentation! It was a Wednesday evening, Pasta Night. Pick your own pasta, sauce, with choice of toppings. I chose angel hair pasta, vodka sauce, topped with shrimp and scallops. Absolutely delish! I had a second martini and selected the Porn Star that comes with a side of Prosecco , another unique presentation. Love the upscale city vibe of the Lounge! Friendly and efficient bartender as well, definitely stop in your next visit to Clayton!

That's just the weirds stuff that I like... the FOCACCIA -- they're baking it right there! There's only two sandwiches. This is a GOOD THING... meat or veggie. Apart from amazing -- small detail: romaine, crispy, super fresh... the meats and veggie patty: great recipe. This all before mentioning their namesake dish... pasta... six feet away from the baking, a lady pulling noodles out of a pasta machine, which I'll have to experience next time.

But they also have nearly peerless homemade pastas (of which the smoked paprika linguine is my favourite, though they often only make it by request), spectacular prepared sauces, and regular specials on essentials that will get you things like premium olive oil or balsamic vinegar* at supermarket prices. * Genova is one of the few places I've regularly found a variety of pure, aged balsamic vinegar free from sulphites. AWESOME. So, here's some tips: 1) They ONLY TAKE CASH, no exceptions. I once witnessed a woman curse them out for this fact and declare she'd tell all her friends not to shop there; when she left, everyone in the tiny shop, myself included, burst out laughing, and one of the guys declared "we can barely keep up with the customers we have, we don't need her!". Very jovial, and they took her bitch-fest so perfectly in-stride they could give lessons on how to turn the other cheek. 2) If you need a quick lunch, pick up a focaccia sandwich -- they're about $4 if memory serves, with salami, lettuce, tomato, and mustard, and they're fantastic! If you want to suddenly realize you're hungry, walk down Wellington around 11:00am for the wafting glory of baking focaccia and just try to resist the pull. 3) When ordering pasta instead of ordering by weight, order by serving size. Say things like "I'm having a dinner party for six, four big eaters and two regular", and they'll give you an incredibly accurate amount of what you need, plus a little extra (because people WILL want seconds, believe me!). 4) Their homemade calabrese olives are out of this world good. They use a puree of oil-marinated chilis, oregano, fennel (I think), and oil, and very, very good sun cured olives... and damn, these things are so good I eat them until I hurt. 5) Ask what's on special, or if they have any leftovers. I've scored half servings of pasta, day old (but still delicious) focaccia, and nearly expired but still awesome cheese for cheap. Finally, I'll also mention that the staff here are fabulous -- very nice people who greet with a smile, always bid a good day, and work diligently to help provide you with exactly what you need to hit a homerun with whatever it is you're cooking. Only downside: Toronto Maple Leaf fans. Egads!

We went early at 5pm. Hostess gave me a hard time when I wanted a better table for my husbands birthday and refused. Fortunately the food was good but the charges on the bill were more than the menu prices and the prices on the website!
