Weird hours. Food was very salty and greasy. But is better than most Mexican food around the county. Sit down is better than take out. Also tried the mall locationIt was less flavorful than the natural bridges location. They also charge a 2 dollar kitchen fee. Whatever that means. They put sour cream on my street tacos .... Couldn't change since I picked up to go. Quesadilla had barely any meat. They have taco Thursday. 2 tacos for 5

Totally worth the drive from Watertown! Cute decor, great food, and stellar service. The burritos are absolutely GINORMOUS and the prices are very fair considering how stuffed they are. Looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes.

What a gem! This little tiny restaurant open Fri-Sun from 11a-7p is so delicious. Having just moved from the west coast, we took the drive out to try this. The service was wonderful. The food was made fresh to order and piping hot. The tacos were exactly as you'd dream of! I loved the decor of the restaurant as well. My lost star is because: -Parking was hard to find -Nothing was spicy here and I love spice -This place hits your pocketbook. ($42 for 2 people to eat) Regardless, I'll be back!

Wow, just wow! I can barely breathe after eating so much food, but it was totally worth it! I had almost written off all of the Yelp reviewers in the Fort Drum area after y'all recommended whack ass La Hacienda restaurant that has lettuce and cheddar cheese as their default topping and charged me extra to get onions and cilantros on my taco as the good Lord intended tacos to be served. Anywho, y'all really came through on this one!! The carne asada fries are AMAZING! Mango margarita was delish, tacos were delish too! Excellent service as well! A little bit out of the way, however, it was most definitely worth the drive and I WILL be coming back. Actual authentic Mexican food unlike the other place . In the words of the other reviewer on here "this place smacks!!" 5/5 most definitely recommend

Best Mexican food you will find here. Everything is made fresh, and no matter what you pick off the menu, you can't go wrong. Its all absolutely delicious and will have you wanting to come back for more every weekend. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, they make you feel right at home. The restaurant itself is so clean, colorful, and we'll decorated. This place is definitely a hidden gem.

Paloma, fresh corn chips, pico de gallo

I had been wanting to try this restaurant for quite sometime. Beautiful day and Mexican food, why not? From the outside, the building looks inconspicuous, but then enter into a bright, festive dining area, fully energized by authentic Mexican dance music! Co-owned and staffed by an active duty soldier and her husband. I happened to be greeted outside by Stephanie, as she was bringing a curbside order out to a customer. Both she and Jess waitress, Jose, husband, coowner, and cook, came out to greet customers and check on how all were enjoying their meals. I arrived at the perfect time, Saturday, a bit after noon. Authentic food and adjacent to Fort Drum, the tables began filling up fast! I started with a basket of fresh corn chips and a small bowl of seasoned pico de gallo. Freshly made, it contained chopped tomatoes, onion, garlic, pepper, cilantro, lime, and other seasonings. With this, and at Jess's suggestion, I ordered a Paloma meaning "Dove". Paloma is somewhat margarita, but not as sweet, with added carbonation. Served in a tagin rimmed, terracotta goblet, it was most refreshing on this sunny Spring day. Recently licensed to serve alcohol, El Gran Patron has a full walk up bar, as well as a stocked walkup cooler of Mexican brews and sodas served in glass bottles, and other canned beverages. In addition, El Gran Patron sells select Mexican confections, peppers and select grocery items. If not familar with Mexican fare, Jess is most willing to give guidance and make recommendations. For the main, she recommended a house wet burrito, stuffed with seasoned house ground pork, rice, whole brown beans, ladled with a house recognized green sauce and a dopple of sour cream. Surely amazing! For dessert, I could not decide, so I ordered all three, Fresca con crema, egg custard flan, and a white cake topped with half and half, whipped cream, and a strawberry. Spoonfuls of each were delicious, but the one which did not last from the table to the car was the Strawberry Fresca con crema!!! Fresh slices of fruit bathed in fresh yogurt and half and half! Out of this world! Handicapped accessible, parking, and zero touch friendly billing, a definite do not miss!

I had called the day before to get a reservation & was confirmed that they were busy but that they could seat us at 7 pm, which was perfect. We showed up at 6:50 & told the hostess we had a reservation to which she said she couldn't find us. When I told her we were confirmed to sit on the patio she again said she couldn't find us. I told her I didn't know what happened but we should have one, so she said, "Just a minute", walked to the back, then all of a sudden we were led outside to the patio at a table for 5. Strange. Our waitress didn't come over for about 5-10 minutes after that. When she came over, she took our order & then left. About 10 minutes later a new server came out & delivered drinks, spilling the beer at our table. This is fine, but he said, "Oh I'm new" & didn't clean it up. We then waited about 45 minutes for our food to come out. About 30 minutes in we asked the new server where the food was & he said, "I'll check but I'm new", then proceeded to not come back to our table. The food finally came out, but as this point our waters were empty. We never got refills until after we got our check when I asked for more water & then a pitcher was brought out & left at our table. Food was marginal. The chips & salsa you get with your entree only comes with like 6 chips, & overall food was just okay. Half our party liked it, half didn't. I understand if places are short staffed, but warning/notice/service letting customers know about it would be nice. Also I feel like refilling water is a bare minimum expectation at any restaurant. Giving three stars because I do think they have a good menu that feeds many types of eaters, & we had a good experience last year so this could have been a one off situation. Verdict's out on if we'd try this place next year when we come back.

The staff is very friendly but since the restaurant isn't huge, I would come early, especially if you have a large group, and put your name down since they get verrryyy busy on weekends/peak times. Their back patio is beautiful, they have umbrellas at tables too to block the shade, so if it is nice outside, I would try to sit here.

I had the chille poblanos, the portion was big, the chilles were nicely spiced, filled with cheese, covered in a tasty sauce. It came with yellow rice, refried beans and warm tortillas. Friends invited my wife and I out to El Mezquite over the weekend, so we gave them a shot. First off, did not realize until we got there that the place in inside of a hotel, so that was an interesting discovery. We were sat immediately, given menus, had our order taken & food brought to us in a timely fashion. My wife ordered chile relleno while I ordered tacos de diablas - three tacos with steak, chorizo, and a spicy red sauce. Most of my party was happy with their food. Mine was fine, although the meat was a bit rubbery and the red sauce wasn't very spicy, but I suppose my problem with El Mezquite is the same as most of the Mexican restaurants in the same area - I'm convinced they all just order the exact same stuff from the same place. El Mezquite's menu is the exact same as most other Mexican restaurants in the area, same offerings, even the rice tastes exactly the same in all these places, so I'm becoming less and less convinced there's any authenticity for most of the places in CNY. That said, the food was fine, our service was fine as well, but I don't believe we'd return for the simple fact that we can find the exact same dishes at other, closer establishments.
