What a great addition to the Chaumont dining scene! My hubs and I just stopped in here for the first time this evening and had some delicious food! They are doing a great job of keeping tables social distanced and servers wearing masks and gloves! Most important the food is delicious. My husband got the joe's burrito and got it made with steak and really enjoyed it and was fresh and flavorful. I got one of my Mexican standbys- chicken Flautas with flour tortillas. They were served with cheese, Pico, guacamole and lettuce. It also came with rice. All very good and fresh! Can't wait to go back and try some more of their dishes! read more

Stopped in for some Mexican food my daughters been asking for enchiladas best Mexican food in the area. She had her cheese enchiladas with red sauce and I had supreme enchiladas very tasty and we enjoyed it. We did try the cheese sauce with their chips not bad but I think it's a little over priced. Service was good prices were reasonable. The only negative we were looking for the Mexican white sauce that goes with the chips, my daughter was asking for that I realize not all Mexican restaurants serve it with chips. Your salsa with the chips was good. You may consider adding the white Mexican sauce with the chips. read more

We were up visiting our friends in point peninsula and decided on Mexican. Our friends went to this place several times and suggested we all go. Mind you it's a Monday night and most restaurants are closed. But José the owner decides to keep his restaurant open to service his clientele. Took a look at the specials and the menu, and there are quite a number of entries for you to pick from. But of course, first out came the chips and salsa. They look different to me and definitely were better tasting than the average chip. to find out that everything in this restaurant is homemade from scratch. We had four people in the party and each one of us had something different and I'm telling you some of the best Mexican food we ever had. I then was tempted to get the mango cheesecake. My wife got the lava cake and my friend got the caramel chocolate cheesecake. Well I didn't eat the others but I had the mango cheesecake and I've never tasted more delicious cheesecake in my tiger life. And my mom is a gourmet cook and cooks the best. New York style cheesecake in the world. Congratulations to this excellently run and quality food restaurant at a reasonable price. I definitely will be coming back to this restaurant for another great Mexican meal. If you get through chamount Bay heading up to 3 mile Bay or point Peninsula, you have to check this restaurant out. We have spent most our life on the Southern border and have been eating Mexican cuisine for 50 years. This was not. We have had more flavor in a bowl of cream of wheat cereal. I don't think there is an onion, chili or other spice in the whole kitchen. Tasteless, salsa was nothing more than crushed tomatoes. While the menu looks impressive (large) the food isn't. Service was also an issue. Only one person handling the floor, counter, and phone orders. 20 minutes to get a beer, another 20 to get our meal. BTW the restaurant was empty except for the two of us and one other table. Very disappointed. read more

Where can you find one of the finest Mexican cuisine restaurants in Northern New York State.....CHAMOUNT BAY, NY!! You will find one of the finest casual restaurants in the 1000 Islands area. Our dining experience began with excellent service. We had our appetizers quicker than we had our water last week at the restaurant across the street! The entrees came out in short time and we were eating our churros in no time. You want authentic Mexican food, this is the place. I am a fussy eater and I had a steak enchilada without veggies and it came out exactly how I ordered it! The steak was delicious and melted in my mouth. Last but not least the churros.....they were one of the highlights of our dinner. We had a great converstion with the owner/operator and he promised to have a Margarita with us when he gets the liquor license. That is the only thing missing but he said it is coming. We can't wait for Tuesday Tacos with a delicious original Margarita. You can not ask for anything else when you go out to dinner, quick service, excellent food, and a very hospitable atmosphere to dine. This is one of MY TOP 5 RESTAURANTS in the 1000 Island area. Normal Mexican food. Wasn't blown away. It was nice not to have to cook tho. A lot of food for 45$. Some tacos were soggy, but it wasn't a huge deal. All in all pretty much exactly what we expected. If you wanna do the work just make tacos urself. It's better than Taco Bell but it's no high end restaurant. read more

I'll be honest, I love most any Mexican food, but this is outstanding! Your meal is created in the kitchen just the way you ask and it comes out hot. Guacamole and salsa are homemade. Tacos, enchiladas, burritos, flautas, fajitas (sizzling hot) are all tasty! I am not a fan of the QR code for menus, but they have both (QR and written). I admire their effort. COVID has been brutal, and the ability to hire staff has been stunted by the extra unemployment pay people are receiving. On a Friday evening, ONE waitress was trying to cover the entire restaurant plus the register. No hit on her... but the service was slow as you can imagine. It took over an hour to get our food. Refills on beverages took an hour. As for the food, my Burrito Supremo had more salt in it than a snow covered road in January. Again... I think there was one employee in the kitchen. That's gotta be hard. The fact that they don't have their liquor license (as of 5/28/21) doesn't help their business. I know they're trying. I'm a vet, and support a vet owned business. But even with the summer visitors coming, I don't know how they will survive without more employees and a liquor license. read more

If you drive through Chaumont, don't blink because you will miss this great spot! My husband and I dined at Ticos on a Monday night. It was pretty steady but not crowded. One woman was taking care of all the tables and acting as hostess. She did an amazing job! She was very welcoming and kind. The food was very tasty and satisfied our craving for Mexican food. We were served the customary chips and salsa which were flavorful. As an appetizer, we ordered the bacon wrapped jalapeños. They were to die for! The bacon was crispy. The jalapeños were fresh and not over cooked (still slightly crunchy), and the cheese filling didn't explode out of the jalapeño after we bit into it. These jalapeños had just a touch of spice but not too much; I think our friends who are more sensitive to spice could have enjoyed them. My husband ordered a #10 and I ordered the enchiladas verde with chicken. Both meals were hot and delicious. We left the restaurant full and had leftover boxes. This restaurant is not fancy, and that is part of the charm. It is clean, comfortable, and humble in its decor. We felt at home and are eager to return again soon. Thank you!! read more

First, As a restaurant owner myself, it was impressive how spotless Tico's was. Not only was the service exceptional but the entire meal was spot on! We chose a large variety of meals as it was to hard to narrow down a choice. Again, everything was delicious, fresh and piping hot. My wife and I stopped here on Aug. 21. We had been craving good Mexican food for months. We got two take-outs: A green chili for her and a big sampler for me, so we covered a lot of items. I am sorry to say we were very disappointed. We threw away the green chili, the enchilada and most of our dinners. The only thing I completely finished was the tostado. In general, the food was bland and lacking in traditional spices. The chips were OK, but the salsa was disappointing. The only reason I give this the two stars is that I know I am particular about what I think is good Mexican food so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. I realize I am in upstate NY and good Mexican food is hard to find here, but it is rare that I actually throw $32 worth of food in the garbage can. My apology to the owner if I just caught you on a bad day. read more

My friend and I decided to stop here today for dinner. We ordered to go and went outside to wait in our vehicle, as we were told 10-15 minutes for our food. After about five minutes, the owner brought our food to us! The food was fantastic. You can definitely tell that the owner cares about their business and making sure customers are happy. read more

Tico's I recently dined at Tico's with three people who were born and raised in Mexico while two others of the group lived a significant portion of our lives in Mexico. Tico's is the real deal; it has very authentic Mexican cuisine. It was everyone's second or third dining experience at Tico's and this time we all ordered something different. I had the Chori-pollo which was a a medium thick chicken breast cutlet with melted cheese topped with excellent chorizo. My nephew had the green enchiladas which he rated at between 9.5 and 10. My husband ordered the menudo (tripe stew) which he loved. We had an energetic toddler with us who overturned his juice which our waitress cheerfully mopped up. We added a few items to take home and the kitchen pumped them out quickly. On an earlier visit, the service was a bit slow but this time all went very smoothly despite it being a Friday night at 6 pm. read more

I loved the food probably the best Mexican in New York. Good chips with great salsa. Clean restaurant bigger than what it looks like from the outside. My only complaint would be that it was confusing on parking at first. I tried the shredded chicken enchiladas with Queso on top with the beans and rice. Stopped here 2 times since it opened . Ordered tamales the first time . They were out and it was an hour after they opened ............. Second time stopped to get horchata . Again they were out / didn't have . If you want Mexican food you might wanna go somewhere they actually have some . Just my opinion. read more

We ordered takeout and were told it would be 40 minutes. We got there about 10 minutes early and it was ready. We live 7 minutes away. It was all cold. My son didn't get his chili and had to eat his (we're assuming) enchiladas that weren't even put together as a cohesive meal, with a fork. My chicken quesodilla barely had any chicken on it. Majority of it was lettuce, and it still wasn't much. The pictures below are of my son's "enchiladas" and my "suprema chicken quesodilla" that didn't even remotely fill the tortilla shell. None of it was seasoned or flavored at all. So we spent about $25 on a flavorless snack, pretty much. We're both still hungry, needless to say. We will continue to go to Chaumont's Blue Heron and Wise Guys, which are amazing!!! We were so hopeful to have a Mexican restaurant so close!! Unfortunately, that's not what we got. read more
