I went here for my anniversary dinner and definitely appreciate the ambiance and atmosphere of the classy restaurant. Both seating in and outdoors was convenient and the service was good. However I was underwhelmed when I ordered the steak w/ truffle fries as it was slightly over cooked for medium rare and the fries were mid and seemed over priced for the total dish to come out to $45 however the Fettuccine was excellent and I could taste the quality in the meats and pasta which saved the experience for me. Decided to go back the next day since I did enjoy the place and wanted to give it another shot. The Gorgonzola was very good and had great quality to having great creamy texture and taste! So overall I would recommend this place just not too much for the steaks lol Also forgot to mention we had the appetizers duck wontons and fried calamari. The wontons were delicious and crispy stuffed and hot which helped us wait on the quality entrees that were on the way but the calamari was a bit undercooked in my opinion but seasoned and layered very good! Mind you, the hostess was trying to help us but was being micromanaged the entire time by this lady. Thankfully, Kevin saved the experience by offering top notch service and was so kind and friendly and made sure our experience was nothing but perfect. We rented an Airbnb in Sackets Harbor for a week which was really nice. It's right on Main Street. The War of 1812 is a huge historical event that took place in Sackets Harbor and the battlefield nearby. My in-laws drove in from Rhose Island to dine with us, so I made a reservation a few weeks in advance. We had a nice table in the back room that is surrounded by glass garage doors. I really loved that room. Everything was great from beginning to end. I could live off the cheesy garlic bread, but we ordered that as an appetizer for our table. I tried to get my son to go one more time, but his new roommates cooked us an amazing home cooked meal that night. My husband and I split the Margherita pizza and a Caesar salad. We loved that. I liked their house cabernet. My son wasn't thrilled with the ravioli, so I am sure he won't order that again. Everyone else loved their meals and the service was great. read more

Not the prime option with Italian after a long hot day, but my son jumped on the opportunity as they had a gluten free pizza option. I had the calzone which was absolutely delicious. My son said the pizza was fantastic. And my husband got the ziti which he said was 'meh'. What a great find, for us. Taking a trip from Lake George through the Adirondack Mountains to Watertown, NY, we were left with nothing but chain restaurants to choose from. We decided we had enough time until 9/10pm, when everything closes, so we looked for our closest option by the water and that was Sackets Harbor. After looking at all of the choices, we chose Goodfellos, and took the risk to eat Italian food away from where we live (Long Island/NYC... home of Italian food). Well, Goodfellos was GREAT! THE chicken parm was just about the best I've ever had. It was a big thick juicy cutlet good perfectly inside and out. The sauce was great and they cheese was just enough... they didn't drown it, like most places do. Their side pasta w/vodka sauce was nice and light and delicious. My wife has their artichoke, shrimp, scallop, pasta dish, which was over good, but there was too much herb taste in the white sauce and they also served it where this dish was like a puddle. Still, the taste overall was good. Just need to layoff the "thyme" which we believe was the overpowering taste. Their Tiramisu was huge and fantastic. They also had a great and inexpensive bottle of red wine C&B Cab. Great experience, with wonderful service and great atmosphere. Dining in and out available and a full bar. Great Sinatra music playing in the background as well. If we are back in the area again, my go to place for sure. read more

Their menu offers a large variety of dishes that you rarely find in other local Italian restaurants. I typically try something I haven't had before and I have never been disappointed. The food is extremely expensive. Our bill was over 100.00 for pizza, bruschetta, salad, and drinks. The service is great. Ambiance is beyond awful. The restaurant is very crowded, noisy, and difficult to talk with the person you are with and the waiter. We left with our pizzas because we couldn't take it anymore. I think they need a section for adults only so couples can eat is peace with less loud noise. It would also help if the seats were further apart from each other instead of packed so tightly. It is pricey but the food is great. The food is really fresh and the service is great. Always an upbeat atmostphere but can get crowded on the weekends so make a reservation. Also, I typically get my meals customized because I have diabetes and high cholesterol, so I will get the Chicken Saltimboca without butter or pasta and its still delicious! We ordered fried calamari and bruschetta for appetizers. Calzone and the spicy pasta with calabrian chili peppers. the bruschetta was good, the pasta was good. The calzone was also good but the very small of oil and basil it came with wasn't pleasant and didn't have the consistency or taste of pesto. The Calamari was an insult to the table. a handful of barely breaded calamari rings on top of a bed of maybe fried zucchini and pepperoncini? It was hard to tell what it was. But the take away is that the plate mostly consisted of anything but calamari. Which is a different from the last time we visited and were actually served fried calamari and the plate only had calamari on it. tentacles and all. The 6$ Merlot (per glass) they have on their house menu was surprisingly good. It was Copper ridge Wineries. If you like Merlot, I do suggest it. My wife ordered an espresso martini that was really good Then we tried to order an aperol spritz. No.. not the aperol sour they have on the menu. Last time we came they made a spritz first us no problem. so we asked if we could order an aperol spritz. I said "an aperol spritz" while emphasizing the spritz part so there was no confusion on what drink we were asking for. She brings the wrong drink anyways. We don't correct it, we drink it anyways but we were not happy with it. I wanted a beer with my calzone so I asked what beers they have on tap and she said "well you can see them over there" while pointing across the room at an awkward angle. You couldn't read anything. So I asked if instead of me walking across the room if she could maybe just tell me what they had and she begrudgingly did. The beer was fine but was first served to the table next to us... which will come up again later in this review We also had their tiramisu which was actually, surprisingly, really good and authentic. Which leads to my next issue. Our bill was totally butchered wrong. Of all stuff I just mentioned that we ordered in this review, they basically started mixing orders from our table and the table next to us. . which.. odd thing to complain about right? was actually 5-10$ cheaper than what our bill should have been. What made me feel bad was we were trying to pay the correct amount and the lady told us that someone messed it up and it's cheaper for us so we should just be ok with it so the young girl who did it doesn't get in trouble. Fine. But the young couple on their first date sitting next to us that (maybe didn't look at the bill that much?) paid for some of our food and drinks. It doesn't sit right with me. Which is why days later, even overlooking the food inconsistencies, and the lack of attention to get our order correct (the drink issue) I am writing this review. Right when we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by numerous friendly waitresses who wanted to know if we were being helped. Because we were a party of 8, it took a few minutes for the staff to ready the table. Upon being seated, our drink and food order were taken down and placed. Even though the restaurant is a bit pricey, I decided to try a few different items. I ordered the Smoked Duck Wonton, Pork Milanese, and the Tiramisu. All three plates were very tasty. My husband and I visited Goodfellos for the first time in about 15 years. It seems that they know what they do well and keep adding more good things! The wood fired pizza is still a sure thing but the menu now features many classic Italian dishes. We weren't super hungry so we opted to share a salad (Pear & Rocket) and a pizza (Old School) and, of course, a bottle of chianti. The salad could have easily fed 3 people. Our waitress brought us fresh bread and dipping oil even though we ordered pizza rather than dinner entrées. She said, "bread goes so good with salad." She won us over right then and there. The pizza was perfection. The crust light and crispy and the toppings perfectly portioned. The only thing I'd change is the bench seating. It's a bit high off the floor. And the salad dressing needs something a little brighter added in or maybe just a lighter portion. Otherwise, it was relaxing, enjoyable and delicious. We were staying in Sacketts Harbor for a weekend getaway for the July 4th weekend and decided to try Goodfellos on a Friday night for dinner after seeing all the rave reviews. The restaurant had a weird smell when we entered, and there were fruit flies flying around everywhere inside. There's a fine bar area and cute little half booths running along the wall. The service was ok. While it was efficient, I didn't appreciate the waitress taking our app plate away while having a conversation with the next table. For apps we got the crab cakes. It was ok. It was not bad by any means, but really nothing mind blowing. The sauce was really good, it had a tangy flavor profile and really lifted the whole dish. The thing that brought the dish down was the size of the cakes relative to what we paid. We paid $16 for 2 crab cakes that are barely an inch thick and a little bigger than a quarter. For entree I got the featured duck dish which was 2 duck legs with an orange glaze and veggies. My bf got the Crostacei alla Good Fellos which consisted of sauteed jump shrimp, sea scallops and white win demi-glace service over cappellini pasta. The duck was ok. It was tender, but in a mushy way. There was no texture in the meat, was it old?? And where is the orange glaze? I didn't taste any of it?? Instead it was smothered in sort of gravy which was ultimately flat in flavor. The veggies were so boring I don't remember what they were until I looked at the pictures. The one thing was there was a lot of duck but for the price of $35+ I expected more flavor. My bf's pasta was even worse. He literally got 2 shrimps and 2 scallops! The scallops were the size of a quarter! There wasn't even that much pasta either. For $26, give the guy some more seafood please! To top off the price, the pasta tasted like nothing. The shrimp was cooked ok but by no means were they "jumbo" and the scallops were so overcooked they were not charred anymore, they just turned brown and had a stringy texture. The one redeeming thing was that the pasta was cooked correctly. We are more than willing to pay for quality food but the bill was way too much for what we got. I think we made wrong choices by not going for the pizzas but please don't call yourself an "Italian" bistro if your pasta dish tasted like nothing. read more

Also when we called out the errors, she became terse and less friendly. Food: Locals really hyped this place up but I'm glad I went in with low expectations. Honestly, this is probably the best you're going to get within a two-hr drive. I had the Crostacei allá Good Fellos as the server indicated this would be one of, if not the lightest pasta and it was described as a lemon in white wine Demi-glacé. The artichokes hearts were unacceptably hard, I literally couldn't bite through anything but the heart itself and had to forgo most of them. It was missing the sundried tomatoes entirely. It was definitely not a light lemon and wine sauce, it was more of a light Tuscan cream sauce with no hint of lemon. Was visiting Watertown after recently moving away. Goodfellos is ALWAYS a must as it never disappoints. We called in to be placed on the waitlist as the wait was about 45 minutes. Once we arrived, I checked in to let them know we were here and gave my number where they would contact me to let me know the table was ready. Inside was packed from wall to wall. The bar was full, barely any standing room for those waiting, and so the tables were full. They have outside dining when the weather is nice but it's January in the North Country so you know what that means. Once seated, our waiter was nice, accommodating, and very energetic. He brought waters for the table (party of 3). For starters we ordered, Classic Salad for 2 and Garlic Cheese Bread. Ordered my son kids cheese pizza, waiter gave him crackers for the wait which he demolished. The salad is always fresh and the dressing is light but just enough. The cheese bread is crispy crunchy but ooo sooooo gooey cheesey. They specialize in brick ovens so super plus. For dinner, I had the shrimp and garlic pizza with a white base sauce! I am bot a traditional pizza sauce pizza eater! Also got the Buffalo chicken supreme pizza! Listen these pizzas are to die for. The ingredients are fresh and the pizza crust is cooked to perfection. What a great gem of a restaurant! We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and enjoyed the AMAZING truffle fries with garlic aioli (truly delicious --we had to get extra sides of the garlic-rich aioli) as well as the Bianco, Bianco, Bianco pizza and a classic Margarita pizza. All were excellent . The crust was a bit different than what I'm used to from a wood-fired grill, but not in a bad way, The drinks were excellent: nice, strong Cosmos and a very tasty twist on an espresso martini (The Full Throttle). The food is always good, but you better come dressed to the nines. If you're not dressed to THEIR standards they seat you in a corner or away from places where you can be seen. I've worn nice dress shorts and a polo, I've been with people in nice sweaters and outfits. and no matter what we get seated out of the way and forgotten about. They are very discriminatory to you based on what you wear. As I stated before the food is good but the service is very bad unless you are dressed to their standards. A group of friends and I were getting together for our yearly birthday dinner...it was Friday June 9th...there were 5 of us and we sat on the patio. Prior, we wanted to have a couple drinks so we were early....the bar was busy as all the seats were taken as to be expected. I offered to grab the first round....as i tried to find an opening between 2 people which is awkward enough, i tried desparately to get the attention of either bartender...I understand it was busy but at the time the bartenders didnt seem to be actively serving anyone, so after standing there for about a minute with no acknowkedgement I raised my hand with my card to maybe get her attention and said " excuse me" now here is the kicker ....she was standing right in front of me.....she didn't even look up to see if anyone needed anything...but then turned around, fiddled with some wine glasses as she proceeded to chit chat with the other bartender who wasn't paying any attention either. At this point, I'm trying like hell to make eye contact with either of them, still kinda waving my hand up a little, watching them talk to eachother. I am certain I was annoying the hell out of the couple in front of me....I have been in the industry for 30 plus years so i know how not to be overly abnoxscious when trying to get the bartenders attention. Ten minutes went by and not 1 time did I recieve any acknowledgement....at that time, other than the people sitting at the bar I was litteraly the only person standing up needing a drink. I was very annoyed, finally I walked to the other end of the bar where the server station was ( which I know all staff hates) and asked the bartender for some drinks. 5 minutes later my other friend arrives and the sane thing happened when she tried. I would really advise the bartenders to pay attention to the surroundings and maybe do a little less talking to eachother. just moved back to the area and I had not been to sackets in years.....the food was great and our server was fantastic and I wish I could Remember her name but we were the group that had the custom cake that said " fabulous and 50".
