I heard good things about this salon so I decided to give it a shot. The salon is quite small and the parking lot is even smaller. They only take walk-ins on Saturday's which I found odd, but nothing beats a failure but a try. You have to wait in line at the door, and even if you're the first person there, other customers will try to get in front of you, so be prepared for that. I walked in, signed in, a stylist asked what I wanted done to my hair. I advised them a wanted a trim, and a blowout. They started my hair about 10 minutes after I walked in, so I was still pretty optimistic at that point. It was all down hill from there. The person who washed and roller set my hair was nice, (different stylist than the one who asked first) and she asked what I wanted done. Since I'm not familiar with their process, I figured the roller set that came with the blowout was just their way of doing things. After the roller set, you sit under the dryer for 20-30 minutes. After sitting under the dryer, a different stylist (the third one) started to blow dry my hair straight. She never asked what I wanted done, so I figured the wash and set stylist had let her know. She started to flat iron my hair, or so I thought. My back was to the mirror so I couldn't see what she was doing. I realized shortly after that she was curling my hair. I wanted my hair straightened not curled. I asked why she was curling my hair, that I wanted it straight, and that I wanted my hair trimmed and had told two stylist before her that's what I wanted. She stated that she couldn't cut my hair at that point because she had already started curling it, even though I had never told anyone that I wanted my hair curled, nor did she ask before she started curling. The absolute cherry on top was that as she was finishing the front, she burned the side of my head with the flat iron. She was pretty apathetic about it and stated that she was just trying to get my baby hair to lay down straight. This place is nothing short of terrible. Poor communication, and what seems to be a total lack of concern for their customers needs or requests. I will never darken their doorway again. read more

With all due respect, i don't know how people with kinky/ natural African American hair go to this salon bc clearly this is not something they specialize in. I went for the 1st time on 4/17 and it will be my last. I've been to plenty of salons and never have i shed tears when getting shampooed. I don't know the girls name, bc nobody except the "receptionist" said a word to me until an hour and a half into my appointment!!!!! Anyway, i have 4c, very tight thick hair. Instead of using the proper tool, she was using a rat tail comb to detangle my hair. I literally felt her ripping chunks of my hair out. I said something to the young lady and she would only say sorry but continued to yank, pull and break off my hair.....Finally after my ears were nearly fried off from being under a hot ass dryer for an hour, some other girl sits me in her chair and blow drys my hair using what, a rat tail comb. 1 thing to be aware of is that THEY USE EXCESSIVE HEATwith only CHI heat protectant, no oils, NOTHING! . She threw some curls in, that took no more than 15 minutes and i was out the door. To say the least i hate my style, it wasn't flattering and i pray that my curl pattern returns. Furthermore it's a day later and the smell of burnt hair still lingers in my car, and on me even after a shower.. It's that strong. There was nothing about my experience that made me feel welcomed to ever book a future appointment. The stylists weren't friendly at all. I didn't expect to become best friends but damn, I'm spending my money in your establishment at least attempt to make casual conversation with your customers. Lastly I truly don't believe that they are properly trained to do black peoples hair. If I'm wrong, then i apologize but from my experience and seeing them do others during my visit, they fry your hair and get you up outta there. read more

I just came to this location today Saturday Sept 4 2021. I did not have an appointment and eventhough they were busy they were able to fit me in no problem 1-2-3 and I was out. I am an afro latina and it is very hard to find anyone that knows how to handle my hair. I love the way it smells and it looks flawless. I am definitely going out and showing off tonight. Courtney is hands down the best Esthetician! I have been coming to Courtney for almost 5 years now. I live in Pennsylvania now and make the 1.5 hour drive just to get waxed by her. Eyebrows are sacred to me and she always shapes my eyebrows perfect, I don't even need to look in the mirror when she's done because I know they're perfect. I never break out after a wax with her too which is SO hard to come by. Before finding Courtney every time I'd get a wax if break out, not with Courtney! read more

Okay, so I've been on the hunt for a reasonably priced salon that can do my hair in the healthiest way allowing it to grow faster without chemically processing it. Well, the buck stops here at Primo. This past Saturday, I decided to drop in for a visit because I've heard so many good things about Dominican salons. Well, I walked in the door and it was jammed packed (good sign). The owner, Antonio?, greeted me asking what I needed done. He was so extremely polite and it really took me off guard. The salon was clean, inviting and everyone was nice to me. It means a lot when I can walk out of a salon feeling good about the overall experience. I will be back and I'm spreading the word. I hope they can expand one day. read more

I'm so proud of myself for finding this place. Even though I was treading on unfamiliar territory, I found this great salon that did a great blowout. They left my hair in silky smooth condition and really took their time to get everything perfect. It would have been only $35 if I used the rollers but I didn't have time for that so they did a traditional blow out which was $45. Still cheaper than here. Another no-frills Dominican salon but they served up exactly what I was seeking. My hair looked great and felt great when I left. They were friendly yet intense. The only reason this review is not five stars is that I felt customers were not finished in order of arrival. Acknowledging, I was still in and out within a reasonable time. I'm in town for the Cowboys/Steelers game and didn't have time to get my hair down before leaving home. I searched Dominican salons in the area and found Primo Hair Studio and read the reviews and was concerned but I took a chance. I'm really glad I decided to experience this salon myself instead of just going by the negative reviews. I had a great experience. Antonio was very pleasant and personable when checking in and through the entire visit. I was assigned to Candys who did an excellent job on blowing out and trimming my natural hair. She is a professional who takes pride in her work. My suggestion to anyone is to consider the nature of the business and each persons individual experience when deciding to visit a business. However, remember we are all different so my experience or someone else experience may not be the same as your experience. Thanks Primo Hair Studio for a great job!!!! Walked in, staff member watching television. Told a stylist to take me. She washed hair, conditioned, put me under hairdryer. I did not need deep conditioning but thought ok, if that's how they do it. Sat under dryer for about 15 minutes. The stylist working on me then proceeded to get her hair washed by another stylist. Giant Rip-off. Not sure if it's because I was white and they knew I did not usually go there, and yes lesson learned on my part to ask questions first, but they charged me $50 to have them wash and blow dry my hair. They saw me coming a mile away. Expensive lesson for me to learn but I have no respect for businesses that rip people off like that. read more
