She ripped my hair out the entire service due to rushing, and my hair felt SOOO dry after when my hair was super healthy prior. Her work is not "lived in", as described. I had stripey highlights all the way to my ROOT that I had to go the very next day to get fixed, and I was very clear that I wanted a NATURAL at booking and when she got started on it in the chair. 0/10 Jess. Do not book here. AND on top of that? She's nasty and rude! You've been warned. The photos say it all.... also, I knew she wouldn't be able to get me platinum, I was more concened about the natural root blending, and I was very clear about that. I am absolutely FURIOUS!! I wish I had a name to give. I have been a loyal customer for easily 4+ years at this salon. In December I left my hair service carrying $1,000 in Aveda Products as Christmas gifts. I last had my hair done in April; I was having a major surgery in March. I did NOT schedule another appointment; I didn't know what recovery would be like. Well long short short; life has been extremely hard on me and my family with serious health issues on my end, my almost 2 year old daughter in and out of the hospital, a traumatic loss of my grandfather in my husbands arms, and now I have my daughters second birthday coming up. You spend your time building a relationship with your stylist, talking etc. I always enjoyed going to this location hence why I was a client for so long. I am a business owner myself- and if an employee of mine acted like I was just treated today- they'd be fired on the spot! I simply called to schedule before my daughter's big 2nd birthday party. The moment the phone got picked up it was like I was a total inconvenience even calling. I gave my name, and said I'd like to schedule for color, foils, cut; and gave my stylist name, and asked what her availability was like. I was immediately and RUDELY told "we can't book a service for you" confused I said oh is she really booked up? And I was told "no we aren't offering services to you because of you canceling appointments. A) a client is allowed to cancel!! I am a business owner; if happens all the time- people have lives. BUT I never canceled anything since I was last in.. because nothing was scheduled!! I explained this on the phone- and was told "yeah like I said in your profile I'm not allowed to book a service for you" I said okay. I never scheduled anything. I have my texts and there was no upcoming appointment etc since I was last in. I asked her to please give me the dates she's speaking of, and if she had the correct person pulled up. I got met with the rudest attitude and told "yeah I don't feel like giving any dates and I don't have to because we aren't booking anymore with you". I have dealt with massive surgery, a major loss to the family, a sick 23 month old struggling in and out of the hospital, and running a business- I am so sick of the snobby desk people. They have ALWAHS been rude- at 6 months pregnant I called and said I was 5 minutes away and would just be 10 minutes late and it's okay if we can't even do the cut because of me being 10 whole minutes late. I was told it was being rescheduled; rude like always!!! 6 months pregnant with a high risk pregnancy I turned around and drove 45 minutes back home and had it rescheduled on their end. The 24 hour thing is even laughable!! Over the years the service has just been absolute crap!! It's not the vibe you deserve from anyone especially paying what you pay there. So they just lost a loyal client, it's sad when you build a history with a stylist- but it's their loss.. doesn't sound like I'm the only one from the reviews. I absolutely at the end of being treated like crap, refusal to give me an explanation or even this made up date I canceled on- guess what? Clients cancel. But nothing was booked since I was last in- so explain that one? It's their loss!! I will happily take my money to another Aveda Salon, that actually had PROFESSIONAL people at the desk, and treat you like it's a luxury to have your hair done at that price. They make you feel like you matter! My mom has gone to this other salon for 15 years- I will happily give my next 15 years worth of money; and my yearly $1,000+ product buying to them instead!!! Absolutely disgusting behavior and I just feel bad for the stylist that is losing clients over the desk... it's a pattern because I just saw the reviews. I'm not the first.. and it's a theme here it seems. I've always felt the desk was a 1 star. 1 star and absolutely disgusting business behavior!! Do better!!! Since moving to Pittsburgh I have spent a lot of time trying to find a salon for a haircut and color which (1) Had a good stylist (2) was close to home (3) not too pricey. I chanced upon Capretti & Co while on a shopping spree at Settlers Ridge. After months of research,I selected Renee as the stylist I would trust with my tress. Fingers crossed and praying that I would not leave with a bad hair job I entered the salon. I was immediately greeted by the receptionists who quickly relieved me of my coat and offered a beverage and mixed nuts. The pampering continued once I met my stylist Renee who, started off my session with a wonderful head massage and then went on to wow me with her coloring, sniping and styling skills. If I had to describe Renee in a word, I would call her a PERFECTIONIST. Her attention to detail and the care and single minded focus with which she tackled my hair blew me away. I loved the fact that for the entire 3 hours that I got my hair colored and cut she concentrated only on ME. There were no other clients scheduled or "squeezed-in" while I was waiting for my color to set...something that I commonly experienced while in Boston. What I personally am most excited about...the color and the cut was EXACTLY what I wanted and in sync with the pre-cut/color discussion which again was a pleasant surprise. Another positive is, being an Aveda salon, the products used were gentle on the hair and without any harsh chemicals. I also loved the ambiance of the salon on the whole. All the stylists share a wonderful rapport with each other and their clients making the atmosphere on the whole a happy and comfortable one. My mom who had accompanied me, got a pedicure while waiting and could only rave about Sara's (her pedicurist) leg massaging skills. Guys who are looking to find a new salon/stylist and are ready to shell out some $$ I would recommend Capretti & Co. After experimenting with stylists and salons from Great Cuts, Super Cuts and the non-significant ones, I was hooked on to a more "fancy" salon in Boston. Since then my standards have risen and once I reached Pittsburgh, I found Capretti & Co to be close to home and with a couple of good reviews on Google. Here I am filing the void on Yelp. This is definitely a fancy salon - they offer massages, manicures and pedicures in addition to hair treatments and cuts and a lot of their clientele are women. However, do not let this hold you back as they do cater to guys and some stylists are better than the others for men's haircuts. You can call and ask about the stylists and they will let you know who they recommend. My first stylist was Jill, who was great and patiently listened to what I wanted and checked in with me multiple times to make sure I was happy with the progress. The second time around, I decided to try Renee who I felt was more experienced (and I believe she is the owner). She also was attentive to what I wanted done with my hair and made sure she delivered. Notable things about my experience at Capretti & Co have been the preciseness with which they cut your hair (to make sure both sides are equal length - i.e. attention to detail) and the focus they give to the client. Both times, I never felt that my stylist was rushing through the cut or that they were distracted. The haircuts range from a 25-35 for guys depending on the stylist and include a shampoo along with the cut (and a head massage to begin with). They do use products that are gentle on the hair (as I was told). For now, I have found a place that I can got o get my hair cut safely without worrying about repercussions later on, except on my wallet. I recommend Capretti & Co without a doubt. read more

The stylist I had. I wish I remembered her name! She gave me what should have been a long bob back in 2020 into a butchered pixie cut. I cried in my car after the appointment. I asked for a refund for the $100 I spent literally for the stylist to just shave my head and no one reached back to me for a full refund. I cried for months because I felt so ugly. I told the stylist what I wanted and she didn't make sure I got exactly what I wanted. And when she saw how upset I was about my hair cut all she said was "Well I think it's cute! You shouldn't be upset about it." And acted as if everything was fine while she saw me almost break down in tears while I was leaving. I had the absolute worst experience there. All of the staff seem catty and rude as well. The owner is horrible at managing their staff and the professionalism of their team clearly. The salon looks professional and luxurious at first glace, but there will be no professional and friendly service from the staff. DO NOT GO HERE unless you want to have a terrible experience. I've been coming here for at least 7 or 8 years and I consistently get fantastic service. The front desk attendants are always friendly and the owner or manager is always here, which is a good sign. I always come to see Jess. I've never gotten a better cut and color from anyone else. She knows exactly what I want even when I can't put it into words and I value her advice. She always knows what would look best on my face shape, skin tone, and style. Personally, she is a very sweet lady as well! The interior is stylized to look luxurious and glamorous... and you definitely feel pampered when you come here. Capretti & Co. is by far my favorite salon in the Pittsburgh area! I've used both locations at Settlers Ridge in Robinson and Crafton. Both locations have a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. You are always offered a cappuccino or coffee as you walk in the door. And the salon offers every service you may need: manicures, pedicures, waxing, massage and Aveda products. I have never had to wait for my appointment and have never been dissatisfied with any services I've received! Renee has been my stylist for close to 10 years and is excellent at making me look my best for everyday life and special events like my son's wedding!! The Vibe: It really has more of a "spa" feel than other places I've been to - it's very beautiful inside, has relaxing music, lovely scents, snacks, tea, coffee, peppermint oil neck massages, etc. When I go there I feel calm and pampered, so though it's a little pricey, I feel like I'm getting spa treatment on top of hair treatment. The Service: Everyone there is very polite and friendly, which is great for a place that has such an upscale feel (i.e. it's not snobby at all). Erin is my stylist and I LOVE her - she is an artist with color. My hair is very long and has been every natural color under the sun (blonde, brown, black, reddish, etc.), and it has never looked better than when Erin has done it. She has given me exactly what I've asked for every time, and she really knows her stuff: she is really smart and has a great eye for color - this is a huge advantage when someone is putting chemicals on your hair. She's friendly and fun, too! The Price: It's definitely pricier, but you get what you pay for. I'm always extremely happy when I leave this salon - it's worth every penny to know that my hair will look gorgeous and feel healthy when I leave! The Look: I'm not sure if they do this on purpose, but everyone who works at / goes to this salon has a classier, more "natural" look. In other words, this isn't the type of place where you would typically go to get a blue mohawk. I mean, I'm sure they would give you a blue mohawk if you asked for one, but that doesn't seem to be the modus operandi of this place. I had never been to this salon but needed a cut badly. I was nervous since I've been going to the same person for years. I was able to schedule an appointment by text (which I loved) and they were very fast to respond. They scheduled me with McKenzie so I looked her up on their site. It said she was a junior stylist who specialized in men's cuts so I immediately became nervous thinking that I needed someone with more experience with women's cuts for my hair. Long story short - I kept the appointment with McKenzie and I am glad that I did. She is very sweet but also professional. She listened to what I wanted and the cut was perfect. After moving to carnegie, I was a bit weary of finding someone who could cut my hair as well as my old salon did back in my home town. I am a male with shoulder length hair that can look quite odd (think big 80's hair) if not cut right. Although the price of a men's hair cut was a tad more than I am used to, I made an appointment here with a girl named Jamie. Let me tell you, she gave me the greatest haircut I have ever had, even better than the ladies at the salon in my hometown. I specifically ask for her when making appointments now, something I never used to do. she is very friendly, professional, and definitely knows her stuff. I am a fan of this place! I am a newbie to the area and was really nervous about getting my haircut. I got set up with Erica and she was so great! She made me feel really comfortable. I didn't want anything crazy, and she completely understood that I just needed a trim. I was really happy with the price and the service I received! She started off with some aromatherapy head/shoulder massage, then washed my hair. After she cut my hair, she blow dried it and did a dry cut to check to make sure it was even. Thankfully I was aware and thoughtful enough to reach out to confirm my appointment was in fact canceled. Good thing I hadn't gone out of my way to take time off work or anything for it. I reached out to reschedule, because they were not thoughtful enough to reach out to those who had appointments unexpectedly canceled due to covid, and the earliest appointment they could offer me was mid-July. Clearly they didn't care about prioritizing people who had appointments canceled on them or regular customers. If I'm going to spend $150-$200 to get my hair done, I'm going somewhere they actually care. read more

If you want to get your nails done, please do not go here, or at least learn from my mistake. I had a 9AM appointment to get my nails done for a wedding next weekend. They have minimal color selection for polish (first mistake; shouldn't have assumed a salon would have variety of pink colors) and don't do gel (second mistake; should have asked, since I wanted gel). The woman who did my nails also made it clear my manicure won't last a week and that I would need a new manicure before the wedding--for the amount of money they ask, I would hope a manicure would last seven days, but we shall see. The nail tech's hands were shaking so much she ended up cutting me and cleaning it up with hydrogen peroxide...and then continued to use that wipe on my other nails. She also made a comment about "not expecting to have all that dead skin". I had to ask her to refile my nails more than once cause the edges and corners were not done well. I just went in to get my roots done, because I get my hair highlighted, it was time for another round. This women, did my roots totally different shade, leaving horizontal strikes in my hair. How professional is this? I go back to get me hair toned down and ask her if she can fix the strikes in my hair, end up not being able to fix, my hair is severally dry, and the strike is still visible. On top of all that she gives me an attitude. Like it's my fault. Ridiculous place. Please don't ever go here, unless you don't mind frying your hair.
