Delicious! Stopped here on way way home from Charlotte. This place looks kinda ran down from the outside, but it's very neat and clean inside. The wait staff are very friendly and the food is great. I had the chicken and rice soup for appetizer and it was light and refreshing, and full of flavor. For dinner I had the red curry with chicken. The spicy coconut based broth was amazing. Looking for Thai generally, and only the best will do? Do not go here. This is not some undiscovered gem that deserves a road trip out of the city. Looking for good Thai food because 21 and main is remodeling again and the fancy place at the winery is booked until sometime in 2016? Well, yes, this is a good spot -- and better than the fried fish, mediocre Italian or chain food I usually run into in the Elkin Jonesville metropolitan area. I had the Thai Iced coffee (lovely) and a "hot" chicken dish that had some spice and some onions. My mom had the red chicken curry which she was ok with, but more peppers and onions than she wanted. All in all -- very ok, better than anything else around, until 21 and main opens up again. Is it worth a detour off 77? Depends what time it is. If Charlotte is out of range for dinner, go for it. Today I had not much choice as there were none of the chain restaurants I normally go to so I headed to Yelp and to Prime Thai. Really? Good Thai food in Elkin NC. The answer is YES! I started with basil rolls (all veg). YUM! The order was 2 and they were great. Nice and crunchy with good basil flavor. The dipping sauce was great also. My only comment is I wanted more! Main course was yellow curry with chicken. Great flavor with plenty of onions, potatoes and carrots along with just enough chicken. The sauce was just right. It's casual with quick, friendly service. We started with spring rolls - watch out they are piping hot! I ordered the green curry w/ vegetables and Thai iced tea. It was amazing! Delicious side of the road restaurant found while traveling from DC to NC. The service was quick and responsive to our needs. I had a bowl of Lemon Grass soup which was so fresh tasting and satisfying with it I ordered vegetarian basil rolls with peanut dipping sauce. It was yummy. My groom had pork fried rice dinner that was a huge portion and full of flavor, he chose a heat of 2 for his and it was appropriately seasoned. We will come back. I usually eat at Chang Thai in Clemmons, but I was in Elkin for the day so I stopped here for a Togo order of Basil scallops. Let's just say they not only put very hot food into a styrofoam tray which melted the styrofoam but it also leaked. This is highly toxic to have melted styrofoam with your food. When I got home I found the styrofoam had leaked a lot of the contents into the bag. The flavor of what I had left what ok. I would try this place again if I was going to eat inside. The food was great and arrived in a timely manner despite them being short handed. We had never had Thai food before, so a picture menu would have been helpful for us. A surprisingly good find in an area dominated by fast food chains and bland American joints. We stopped during a trip to hike Stone Mountain and visit some wineries in the Yadkin Valley. The pad thai was authentically flavored, if a little sweet, and the panang curry had a hint of complexity. The basil rolls were the least interesting part of the meal, just iceberg lettuce and one Thai basil leaf rolled up in rice paper. Overall, the food is more like what you would expect to find in a big city Thai restaurant than in a tiny town in the southeastern part of the country. read more

When we drove into Elkin, travel weary and hungry, we were so excited to see a Thai place with 4 and a half stars! 6 hungry people and a well reviewed restaurant? Sounds good! We ordered, and waited. After we got our food to the hotel, we were extremely disappointed with what we received. Noodles that were solid with the sauce, to the point that stabbing at them didn't remove them from the foam container, and soggy, cold vegetables.
