I expect a decent meal at a pub, not a great one. But for a pub, this is rather upscale in ambiance, and there were more pescatarian options than usual, so we had a very nice dinner overlooking the beautiful lake (but indoors on a very hot day, comfy in the A.C. but not freezing). My husband and one of the other couple each had a glass of wine. The other half of that couple and I shared a Guinness ( he was driving, and I'm just a lightweight drinker!) - a full pint was served (draught, perfect pour) with an extra glass as requested and I did a good job pouring without spilling any! The 4 of us shared a goat cheese flatbread to start. It came cut into 4 pieces, helpfully, but they were quite unevenly split, fwiw. We were fine, but got a chuckle out of 1 large piece and one really small piece, with the other two more or less the same. Anyway, it was tasty. One had the brisket sandwich and he was very pleased with it. His wife had a veggie burger with tater tot's; I had to taste one (shades of my much younger years!), still perfectly salty and crunchy. My husband had the veggie burger with sweet potato fries, and of course I snatched a couple of those as well, yum! I really liked my shrimp tacos; I thought each one (2 to the serving) had ample shrimp well-seasoned. I chose a side salad instead of fries and it was a good-size portion with dressing on the side as requested. Service was very good, food and atmosphere lovely. This was our first visit to Prime Pub, so we weren't familiar with how they do things. I appreciated the variety of gluten-free options, which made it easy to enjoy dinner with my family. We had a reservation for five at 6:00 p.m. on a Friday. Be prepared to order drinks and entrees almost immediately after being seated, before you've really had a chance to look over the menu or hear the specials. It felt rushed. The ambiance was very nice. If you're hoping for a table overlooking the lake, keep in mind those are reserved for parties of four or fewer. The portions were generous, but they do charge a fee to split meals. We shared the Four Cheese Pub Nachos, but they weren't ideal for sharing. The melted cheese made them difficult to divide, there wasn't a serving utensil, and the chips were soggy. The RI Crispy Calamari was a hit with those in our group who could eat gluten. The biggest disappointment was the steaks. We ordered a NY Strip and a Filet Mignon, both medium leaning toward rare, but both arrived badly burned on the outside and not cooked as ordered. Our waitress was friendly and offered to remake my steak or bring me something else, but by then everyone else was nearly finished eating, so either option would have meant dining alone. I appreciated that they removed my steak from the bill without any argument. I came here after a work-related trip to the area, hungry and a little jet lagged. Came here for an early Valentines Day Dinner. Our server was incredible and gave good recs. The restaurant itself is large and spaced out enough that it didn't get too loud. We split three appetizers. The best in show was the smoked pork belly it was incredible. I split a steak sandwich with my mom but unfortunately the steak was chewy and tough to eat. Yesterday changed drastically due to an unforgivably dry Cuban sandwich, a cheese and tasty chili starved order of nachos, burnt Naked Wings and (except for the yummy bacon) a depraved Chicken BLT. I had some kind of steak bowl which had either poorly made risotto or white rice -- I'm still not sure! Either way, the dish was just okay as the aforementioned base wasn't 'right' and cold to-boot! The menu was definitely a bit pricey. I paid $11 for a very poorly poured glass of house red wine, but thoroughly enjoyed the fried banana cheesecake w/ vanilla ice cream for dessert. What a pretty restaurant! We went for lunch and were not disappointed. We started off with curried mussels. I ordered the 75/25 burger and my friend ordered the French dip. The mussels were good, but could've been great! They needed a lot more curry flavor and maybe some coconut cream. The sandwiches, on the other hand, were excellent! My burger was really tasty with crispy bacon on a nice soft brioche roll. The French dip was also quite delicious. From the moment we walked in, she made us feel welcomed and taken care of. You can immediately tell they lead by example being professional, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure everything runs smoothly. My sister had the organic half roasted chicken and it was simply jam packed with rosemary flavors. My other sister loved the lemon chicken and said it was "scrumptious." We have been to Prime Pub a few times now to have drinks at the bar. To start, the only reason I am giving this review 5 stars is because of Dooreen. The drinks the first few times we went were from two other bartenders that were not great. We go mainly for the drinks so for them to not even taste good was a disappointment. This last time we met Dooreen and it was a much better experience. Drinks were great and service was great. We will be back and hope she is bartending next time read more

I always liked the Prime Pub in Danbury and was thrilled when they took over the lovely location of the Chinese restaurant that overlooks the pond. They physical plant is beautiful and the views are great. The food has been uneven. Dropping my favorite from the Danbury location, hanger steak frites, didn't help. Generally the food is blander in Somers. The beef stroganoff had a peculiar taste, the NY strip was a tad tough and a medium not the ordered rare twice, the braised short rib was not the almost falling off the bone tenderness I'm used to and the Chilean sea bass disappointed as well. Service is spotty at lunch and on weekends. I enjoy most of my meals but each has had its disappointments as well. More consistency is required from the kitchen and professionalism from the wait staff. Danbury definitely better. Recommended with reservations. read more

The configuration and decor are open and spacious, and the picturesque view of the lake serves greatly as a backdrop. During our visit, the servers and bus staff were friendly and accommodating, and the food was fresh and well-prepared. There were a variety of offerings, from small appetizers to steaks, but my son and I were content with the Prime Kobe Patty Melt and the 25/75 Burger. Everything was cooked to order and satisfying. Update: The owner called. Not to apologize but to air his waitress's dirty laundry making excuses - "she has been fired before" " I don't like how she dressed today" . The brunch was weird but this situation is now beyond bizarre... -- What just happened?! 6 of us went for Sunday brunch for moms birthday. The restaurant was at most 10% full. Placed our order and then ... 45 min later still no food or staff. We had last seen the waitress about 10 min after placing the order. So we got up to ask another waitress and she went to check on the order. We didn't hear back from her nor the original waitress. Our food came out about an hour after we ordered but was an incomplete. 3 dishes came with a side of hash browns- no hash browns came and no acknowledgement that they were missing. One egg dish was completely cold and the short rib hash was salt-bombed. When we finally found the missing waitress she became incredibly defensive and accusatory. No apology. No acknowledgement of the time that was taken and the incompleteness of the order. There's was no manager, but the chef and 5 waitresses huddled around the terminal to do something with the bill. The solution? "We'd like to offer you free coffee and we took the short rib hash off the bill" Except they hadn't taken that dish off the bill...and we don't want coffee at 2pm. read more

The service is good, however they make you order your whole meal at once instead of drinks and appetizers and then order the main course after the appetizers. My last visit was a disaster, my mussels appetizer were absolutely disgusting, ( overcooked, old, stringy with no business being on any plate) had to send back. I find it hard to believe that who ever prepared that dish thought that they were good enough to be brought out to a customer. This is the third time I have been to Prime Pub and honestly it just gets better and better. We were a party of 4. Our friends got there first so they went to the bar. I was told that the bartender Ashley was making some awesome drinks!! And yes she did!! Now we're ready to get seated. We got a beautiful table by the window. Overlooking the pond. Very nice!! We had appetizers that were delicious!! I have to say we had the best waitress in the place, Doreen. She took her time with us and explained what ever we asked. Very thorough and very friendly. My kind of waitress. Our entrees were awesome. Me and my husband had the pork chop. Cooked perfect. My niece had the strip steak and it looked great and her husband had the Orecchiette pasta that he said was amazing. So now we order the lava cake to share. Me and my niece order a chocolate martin. Before you know it, Ashley the bartender comes to ask us questions about our martinis. So sweet. Never had that happen So everything was so very good. If you haven't tried it yet.
