BBQ Chicken Pizza slice and Spicy Pepperoni Pizza slice with a side of Ranch (obviously)
Kyle M.

Prime Pizza deserves 4.5 stars but since Yelp doesn't do half stars, we'll go with a strong four. This is just solid, normal pizza done well. It's nothing too spectacular or crazy, but they've got all the NY-style classics including both square and round pies, gluten-free and vegan options, and all your favorite toppings. What makes Prime Pizza stand out to me is their RANCH (some of my favorite anywhere and yes, they sell it by the bottle) and the crispy, spicy pepperoni. I also love that you can get a lot of things by the slice if you order in-store. This location in particular has a great patio and dining area with plenty of seating and TVs and the service is always quick and friendly. Whether you want to do takeout or eat here with your family or friends, there's something for everyone!

Prime Pizza is so good, and their prices are incredibly reasonable. I stopped in and got two slices one Margherita and one pepperoni. The Margherita was my favorite, maybe because I haven't been eating much meat lately, but either way, it was fantastic. Their slices are a great deal and based on how many orders I saw going out, one was for 20 pizzas it's clear this spot is in high demand. The crust was so good it had that high-quality east coast flavor. I wouldn't be surprised if they used imported water or had ovens designed to replicate an authentic Italian-style ovens. The place is located right across the street from Santa Monica College, so it definitely gets busy. Parking can be a little tricky especially if you're going east on Pico, since left turns can be restricted. I recommend turning before the shop to find street parking, or using the lot in the back or along the side of the building. They also have a great sitting area behind their building as well as inside, but the seating outside has two TVs and it's picnic style benching I didn't eat outside that day because it was pretty cold, but I would definitely sit out there and watch a basketball game because I think they had sports on when I was picking up food. The staff is really kind and friendly and even the bathroom was super clean and well stocked. Honestly, I'd absolutely recommend Prime Pizza to anyone craving a quality slice at a reasonable price.

The best pizza I've had in the area. It was $110 after all fees for two larges and a rectangle deep dish. Not cheap. But the quality was great. Crisp and chewy crust, well-seasoned sauce. We will be getting it again. Not sure why they have less than 4 stars, the pizza was genuinely delicious.

Came here after camping and craving pizza. Some friends that live near by recommended this spot and it was a good one. We ordered a slice of grandma, Sicilian, bbq chicken and pepperoni. We also got a side of meatballs and garlic knots with a chopped salad. Food was good, pizza dough was thin with the perfect amount of crisp. The meatballs were nice and tender and I love garlic knots so those were solid and the chopped salad was there to bring everything together. Service was good staff was friendly and helpful which is what you'd expect. Ambiance was cool nice art and decor up. I liked the maps of LA and dodger items. Would we come back. Yes, it's a solid pizza spot whether you want a slice or whole pie.

Cheese slice

Pros -solid New York style pizza -the crust is crispy Cons -pizza didn't taste the freshest -sauce and cheese ratio could be better Rating 6.5/10

Cheese Pizza

The following location had accessible parking. It was later in the night so it wasn't difficult to find a spot, but I noticed it was across a community college so it could be tougher during the day. When I entered the store it was kind of empty, there was like two customers and five employees. I liked the place it was very white and filled with cool baseball art. I simply was in the mood for a slice and I have heard of the place before. The guy who helped me out was friendly and brought me the box while I was sitting. The cheese slice came out pretty quick and was 10/10. Nothing crazy, just a plain cheese pizza that was not greasy and had excellent undercarriage. I will for sure come back!

Summer tomato thick slice

4++ of the locations that I've been to, this place feels a little larger. There's seems to be a good amount of seating inside and has a more open footprint than the other locations that I've seen. When I first walked in, I was greeted by some very friendly people and helped right away. I was also lucky because I think I've beat the late lunch or early dinner crowd. There was a good selection of slices available and I end up getting the staple which is the spicy pepperoni, but I also wanted to try the summer tomato pizza. It just looked really good! The thick slices had a nice crunch and weren't overly chewy. You could easily eat them without using utensils and just biting directly into them spicy pepperoni always a favorite here but that summer tomato should not be slept on. Just consistently good pizza no matter what location that you find yourself at.

As a lifelong pizza nerd who grew up in Brooklyn and NJ and lived in the heart of NYC until 2006, I've developed a pretty unforgiving radar for anything claiming to be "New York-style" pizza. Since moving to Orange County, I've been chasing a slice that actually tastes like home. A few months back, I posted some pics of pies from Brooklyn City Pizza in Laguna Niguel--hands down the best NY-style pizza I've had since moving here. No surprise: the owners are fellow Brooklyn expats. When I chatted with one of the staff, they mentioned they were scouting for a second location. So when I heard a new pizzeria was going in at the Target plaza on Alicia Parkway, I got excited. I assumed--hoped--it was another Brooklyn City outpost. Nope. Instead, it's Prime Pizza, a spot out of L.A. that claims to serve "New York-style" slices and has apparently earned some positive press. Never heard of them, but I figured I'd give them a fair shake. While up in Santa Monica today for meetings, I spotted a Prime Pizza location nearby and decided to try it out--consider it recon before their Mission Viejo spot opens. First impressions: The pies on the counter looked decent. I was pleasantly surprised to see Italian ices on the menu--a rare find out here, and a total throwback to Bay Ridge summers with my grandparents. Nothing beats a proper Italian ice on a hot day. Then came the slices. I ordered one cheese and one pepperoni. Both were paper thin. Not "classic NY foldable thin"--I mean almost transparent thin. Foldable, yes, but dry and overly crunchy, like they'd been sitting under a heat lamp since yesterday. This was at 11:45 a.m.--prime pizza hour (no pun intended). The sauce was unbalanced and aggressively acidic, with no depth or sweetness to cut it that had me wishing I had some Tums for the ride back. Still hopeful, I tried a few bites of one of their Sicilian slices. It looked promising in the pan behind the glass. What I got was cafeteria-core: dry, stiff, ridiculously thin and flavorless, like a matzoh had a baby with a sheet of cardboard. The kind of square slice that gives "Grandma pizza" a bad name. And here's the thing--Prime isn't a franchise, which means there's no excuse. What I ate is exactly what they intended to serve. So unless the Mission Viejo crew completely reinvents the pizza wheel, I'm not expecting much. In a county already drowning in pizza mediocrity, this one isn't tossing in another lifeline--it's tossing in a cracker of dough.

I like that the pizza is balanced with not so much bread and perfect amount of toppings. I looooove their pizza I want it everyday if I could. It is so delicious! - Paz (8) My first time at this pizzeria and the food was amazing, I got to try a slice and I swear you can't get this kind of pizza just anywhere. It took me back to a slice I had in NY, what kind of pizza unlocks memories like that?! The team here is amazing too, the pizza and service is unmatched. DeMarcus you are a gem!!!!

Kimo E.

One of my favorite spots in LA. Crispy, thin, good sauce, small cup pepperonis... 9/10 for sure!!! DO NOT SLEEP ON THE RANCH EITHER (as good as wing stop). Matt was very friendly and warm when I picked up my last Togo order...

Meat lovers Square pizza!
Art G.

Fantastic pizza! I ordered the meat lovers square pie. It was pretty big 12" x 16" or so. About a third bigger than most places. And twice as big as Emmy Squared Pizza. All the toppings tasted fantastic and the sauce was on point. The service is great unlike Joe's pizza which hires the unhappiest personnel. The ambiance is clean and for the first time I noticed they have a back patio. It was too cold to sit outside so I'll have to check it out next time. I definitely recommend Prime Pizza!

The pasta was easily some of the best we've had outside of Italy -- simple, authentic, and executed at a very high level. It genuinely felt like being transported back to Italy. Every dish was balanced, fresh, and memorable. Our server, Kiara, delivered exceptional hospitality. She made us feel welcome, relaxed, and genuinely taken care of the entire evening. She's a great example of how service should be done. We enjoyed it so much that we were recommending the restaurant to people on our way out. There was a situation during our visit that concerned me at the time. I won't go into details here, but what matters most is how it was handled. Shortly after, I was contacted directly by the regional manager. He had already reviewed the situation internally and addressed it promptly. Our conversation was thoughtful, professional, and focused on doing the right thing. What stood out most is their philosophy: they're not just in the business of serving pasta -- they're in the business of taking care of people. That clearly extends to both their guests and their team. That level of accountability and leadership is rare, and it turned a great experience into one that I respect even more. Kiara absolutely represents the standard they aim for, and we'll definitely be back.

I came here on a Friday evening and was able to find metered street parking fairly easily. My friends and I were fortunate enough to be seated in the gorgeous back patio, and the multiple heaters kept us toasty warm despite the chilly winter evening. I participated in the DineLA menu, which was priced at $45 for 3 courses - not bad for LA, especially Santa Monica. I started with the octopus salad and was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion size. The octopus had a nice char and tasted pretty tender, though I'd say it was cooked just a tiny bit too long for my liking. For my entree, I was in the mood for a cheesy bowl of carbs, so I opted for the Pici Guanciale e Cipolla, which essentially tasted like a carbonara. I loved that the housemate pici noodles were cooked perfectly al dente and had a delightfully chewy texture, and the parmesan fondue coated each bite of noodles with velvety goodness. For dessert, my weakness for chocolate took over, and I had to try the Tronchetto. Though I was initially a bit underwhelmed by the small portion size, it ended up being the perfect amount given how rich and decadent the chocolate mousse was. Throughout the evening, our servers were knowledgeable, welcoming, and attentive - almost a little too attentive, as they tried to clear my plates before I finished eating on a few occasions. However, they profusely apologized and I acknowledged that there was only one bite left each time (I was really trying to lick the plates clean), so we had a good laugh about it. I'm really glad I was able to try out Piccolo's DineLA menu, and I loved the romantic and intimate ambiance. This would be a perfect date night spot!

Our favorite table when dining with friends is the one immediately to the left when you enter- it's more tucked away from the rest of the restaurant, making it cozy, more intimate, and easier to have conversations. Dinner typically requires a reservation unless you arrive early, and it's much livelier than lunchtime. The Chef's Negroni is a soothing, smoky and somewhat sweet cocktail that starts with cathedral mezcal. I loved it. We ordered a several dishes - and let's start by saying you must try the ricotta. 'Whipped cheese, sea salt' does not do it justice, but it's wonderful and perfect to share. The Beef Tartare is another winner, served with crispy potato and parm. It's pretty huge, and rich, and conveniently cut into pieces for easy sharing. The crunch potato chips on top are a nice finish. A creative take on a classic, purists might wonder what's going on, until they taste it. The Caesar is huge and great to share, too, as well as the Crispy Rhode Island Calamari. These are more in the department of comfortable staples, but are delicious crowdpleasers, nonetheless. Of the entrees we ordered, everyone seemed to like mine the most: Malloreddus (bbef cheek, ragu napoletano, thyme, toscano). It sounded a bit quirky, but inviting. The server gave it a bit thumbs up, so I'm glad to have ventured this way. Served over the small pasta pieces that you can watch being made closer to the front of the restaurant. The Lemon Tagliolini features lobster 'fry diavolo', basil and pistachio. Not too spicy, and the lobster and pasta were perfectly cooked. The cannelloni was perhaps the one entree that, while good, did not rise above 'just fine'. Perhaps the flavors were a bit toned down that night, or maybe overwhelmed by the gorgeous Sorrentina blanket of mozzarella, tomato sauce and basil.
