As NYC Steakhouses go, BLT Prime is up there with some of the best. We've been coming here lately…read morefor celebratory dinners and my son wanted to come here for his birthday, ever since we went to the BLT on 57th St for Restaurant Week. After ordering drinks and while you are perusing the menu, plates of crostini are served with tasty chicken paté. Some unique standout items that BLT serves besides their steaks is the Chimichurri thick-cut BACON and the Popovers! I love to shred a piece of the fresh baked popover bread, slather it with butter and sandwich in a piece of bacon. Yum! My son & I had the Côte de Boeuf for 2, which was only slightly larger than the bone-in Cowboy Ribeye and I did not think it was worth the $147 when we could have gotten 2 Cowboy Ribeyes instead. For some reason, they did not have the Porterhouse for 2 this time around. The boneless Delmonico Ribeye that my wife and BIL had would have been a good choice also. All steaks come with a roasted head of garlic & bone marrow along with a choice of side sauce: horseradish, chimichurri or tangy steak sauce. We tried all three. For sides, you can't go wrong with classic creamed spinach and roasted Brussels Sprouts (w/ bacon, of course), but my favorite is the Hen of the Woods mushrooms, which always complements the taste of of the steak. For dessert, most of us went light with the mango sorbet & chocolate gelato, but our godson wanted the Skyscraper chocolate cake and it was pretty massive. The mano sorbet was so good, I had to have a second scoop.

Since we had the restaurant week menu, we got pretty small portions (or at least the starters were small IMO) We got the tuna tartare, summer salad, chicken, filet fish, and for dessert chocolate cruch and peach pound cake desserts!

There was a big flat screen TV in the back of the dining room. I hope it was just for the World Cup and not a permanent feature. Jim Kramer's manic shenanigans in the background did not add to the vibe. Our waiter was lovely. He made our experience a lot more fun. The T Bar has a great restaurant week deal. The cocktails were excellent. The rosemary and olive breads are a treat. We mostly stuck to the restaurant week offerings. My wife had the angel wings. They were tasty but teeny. The hamachi crispy sushi was really good. The meatballs are also a reliable starter. My wife and I both had branzino. It's among one of the best versions in NYC. The apple cobbler was good. The only bummer is that I didn't get the Banana Parfait Mille Feuilles. It's one of my absolute favorite desserts and I was sorry not to get it. It's too bad that it's become a large format dessert. This is a more than solid choice for the UES and steak is really the least of it here.

The food was okay overall. The roasted beets were good, fresh, and nicely done. I got the chicken Milanese (without tomatoes), which was a good portion and nicely breaded, but honestly pretty flavorless. The apple tart for dessert was probably the highlight and pretty good. I didn't stay for happy hour, but I did get a small tonic water that was about $6, which felt a bit pricey for the size. It's a convenient spot if you're hungry and nearby, but I'm not in a rush to go back unless someone else wanted to try it. Also, it took forever to get my check, so if you're on a time crunch, definitely give your server a heads up.

The décor was inviting and the service was genuinely warm from the moment we walked in. We ordered the beet salad, grilled lamb, spinach pie, and octopus. The beet salad was delicious and came with almonds and a spread that tasted almost like hummus. The octopus was a generous portion and surprisingly tender -- my son ate more than half of it, which says everything. They also served bread and beans on the side, both of which were fantastic. The spinach pie came as huge triangles; it was decent, though not my personal favorite. The lamb arrived much later than the other dishes, but it was worth the wait. Thick‑cut, cooked medium rare, and served with grilled vegetables -- it was perfectly done and surprisingly good. Overall, the food was fantastic and the service matched it. We'd definitely come back.

My waitress was great, the bus boy came around and he had poured water with no ice. I remember that I had to ask my waitress for ice water and she came back with it. I was told by the Hostess that upstairs was only limited to private parties. I remember it was packed and they probably get a lot of foot traffic because it's right across the street from Bloomingdale's. They gave me free bread and looked like humus. The appetizer was grilled octopus, the only problem that I had was they had charged an additional $12 because this is Restaurant Week we are suppose to get a deal. The entrée was a Branzino served with saffron risotto. I always wanted to try risotto because of the reality show "Hell's Kitchen" they mess up on this dish numerous times. The dessert I had was a sorbet and it changes so you have to ask what kind they have when ordering. For the drink they had a sangria and it was delicious, I had ordered another one. They had special drinks on the menu for $10. I remember the place gave an old school feel of Greece with the design of the bricks inside the restaurant and the plates. The bathroom was just one that everyone had to wait on. The bathroom was clean, but small. I said that I never had Greek food before, I never had octopus before, I liked it. I never had risotto before, I liked it. The reason why I give this restaurant five stars because I can't remember if the bathroom had toilet seat covers or not because that's a plus for me. Would I go back here again? Heck yeah! The food was great! The service was great! I have now become a fan of octopus, risotto was delicious and so is that sangria, I had to order it twice. So come check out this East Side gem.

The room itself was spacious with great AV/lighting and privacy. Staff were nice and polite, but they were kinda awkward and accidentally hit me on the shoulder twice with the plates when they were reaching over to serve/clean up. They also messed up our steak orders so the guests had to change/trade ourselves. The caesar salad was pretty solid with fresh veggies and a good sauce ratio. The calamari was just fine with a thicker batter. The Canadian bacon had a good chewy yet tender texture and was nicely grilled. The filet mignon was more tender than the sirloin, but I liked the seasoning on the latter better. The spinach and mashed potato sides were pretty standard. For desserts, the cakes were suboptimal. They tasted like supermarket bought ones with artificial whipped cream. Since it was a corporate dinner, my experience does not reflect a regular dining experience but the dishes and steak I tried were only alright and the service/logistics did not help.
